Last training at Casey for 09

Still Waiting

Clearly very few people from the central suburbs made the trip.It was very much a local promotion

Don't you think that is the object of the exercise?

Well I thought the exercise had a dual purpose - but it was in realty a function for Casey Demons. There was a stand selling local produce - and Chris Connolly took the opportunity to buy several week's supply of veges!

I did expect to see more people there = but perhaps my expectations were unrealistic for a Friday evening just before Xmas.

For I W-S, I note that Col Garland worked out with Watts and co and looked quite comfortable. It was also good to see Strauss out there - working hard despite a wrist brace.

I can't think of anybody who wasn't on the field doing something except Healy who ran a few laps and didn't look happy. Bruce was with the group on the modified program - but he looked a bit proppy. Others in the modified group were Fitzpatrick,PJ, Meeson, Newton and McNamara

I'm sure its just a calculated move to stop him from over-training.
i went to training yesterday at casey, he was in the rehab group, i asked the trainer and he said there concentrating on beefing him up, hes not injured, hes doin major weight sessions.

So what happens for the next 4 weeks? They finished training at Casey last friday. There's a camp in Mansfield this week and i believe they have 2 weeks off over christmas. If training resumes early in January then they have 6 weeks to get fit before a possible intra club match at Casey Fields on Saturday Feb 13.

Maybe it wasn't a bad time for Aussie Wonna to do his hamstring. He can rest an recuperate for 4-5 weeks and still get a few weeks of training and match play prior to the first NAB cup match at Freo on 21 Feb.

I agree regarding Wonaeamirri. But still, it is an interruption for him personally, he could do without. Let's hope it is nothing too serious (ie.6-8 weeks). It would be great to see him up & running in all the drills mid January and ready for a NAB Cup to his return to senior footy.

Watts did not train with the main group at all.... which I found disappointing. He was with the group returning from injury - so was Scully - mainly doing handball drills. They also did reflex work with a tennis ball. Matched against Gawn he certainly didn't look like a big man - but he was energetic and enthusiastic throughout - and he pulled in some blinders when Kelly O'Donnell smashed a tennis ball anywhere near him!

Got to have soft hands when doing reflex work with a tennis ball.

Missed you at Casey, do you have the numbers to storm the board yet?

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
