Position 8, That is what the Club as a whole should be aiming for.

Our team will still be under valued & to some degree & unknown to the other 15 sides.

Early Foxtel games will help us to stay just under that Radar-that is a real Bonus.

You're right. None of the other AFL clubs will know anything about us because they don't have Foxtel and so will never see our games. ;)

Now, if we could only cancel their newspaper deliveries.........

They've probably all got Merv Hughes as forward scout.

I voted 8th

11 wins for the seasons

After Bails put games into the young blokes last year I am expecting a lot more. No more testing players out in different positions I want (and expect) more wins from a much more experienced side. I believe we will be about as good as the Essendon of last year. With all players fit I think our forwards should be able to kick more goals and our defense will consolidate to be stronger each week(we were becoming much better by the end of last year). As with many of you I feel our midfield is a little weak, Sylvia was playing great but really was the only one.

With more wins comes more confidence I dont think 8th position is a great stretch.

13th - top of the bottom four slops bracket but much improved.

(Any of Freo, Port, Richmond and North to be 12th and 14-16)

It's 4.47am. I can't sleep. I'm watching the replay of the Melbourne - Freo match at the 'g - 2008. Oh God we are awful. With 4 minutes to go in the 2nd Q we are 50 points down. The really sad thing is the number of turnovers on the ground and the lack of turnovers on the list. I think there's only 5 players who are no longer with the club.

The 4 guys who are supposed to be the future of our backline - Frawley, Rivers, Garland, and Warnock. There are all there.

The midfield and the kids who will will be on our list in 3-5 years - Jones, Moloney, Morton, Wanna, Davey. All there.

The 3 wise men - Macca, Bruce and Green.

And Bate and Jamar. I know we see a lot of potential in these players, but le's not get ahead of ourselves.

13th.

I would be expecting 8 wins in 2010 which should put us at around 11-12. Any more will be a bonus. The team is still young and they will tire during a long season. The beltings should be fewer but the performances should be better across the Board

But the numbers of wins would be a truer reflection of how we will see the year going because ladder position depends on 15 other teams' wins and losses. Not too difficult to understand.

I'm expecting around 8-9 wins, which I assume would be around the 10th-12th mark.

Agree with the 45's view on number of wins.

The are some fantasy's out there.

14th Would be a steady improvement, anything better would be a surpise.

14th would be an underachievement IMHO

I've surprised by the increase that some people expect next year.

Whilst the club will definitely improve, it's a big ask to expect us to make finals next year.

I think we'll finish 13th, with 10th being the absolute best result I can realistically see.

well to be fair only 14% have tipped a finals berth, and that includes a few heroes who are just too hardcore to let a poll tell them what to do and be honest

you'd have to say 11th is about the average... which is 9.4 wins on average the last 5 years (8,10,10,9,10)

the other thread has the overwhelmingly majority saying 7-10 wins

I don't think these numbers are getting too carried away when you consider we won 4 last year but lost 5 matches by 3 goals or less, had some bad injury luck and this year a better fixture with some new talent coming in and a host of young guns (and a young coach) bound to improve, not to mention our intent to win might be a little higher if you know what I mean

If we can turn 3 of those 5 into wins, then it's a good result. I'd love to see 10 wins, but I think that's wishful thinking.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
