thought I have ago at this ,

1or 2 Scully , Trengove

11 ...

18. Ball LOCK IT in ( if he hasnt already been picked )

PSD : Joel MacDonald - deal has been done and will be a Dee .

Scully

Trengove

Bastinac or Tapscott

Vardy

Thorp

Gawn

PSD = McDonald

I could see that happening. Though maybe not Gawn... but still, worser things have happened.

1 & 2. Scully & Trengove

11. Black

18. Carlisle or Bastinac

34. Patrick

50. Grimes, Daw or best available in that order

The Demons could have traded for another top 20 pick off loading a 2 players to achieve this. That would get us a top 20 pick and the opportunity to use Pick 66 or another pick in the PSD. Bastinac will be a great player! Drafting him aswell as not missing out on 2 KP in the top 20 would have been super.

I'll have a crack too!

1. Tom Scully

2. Jack Trengove

11. Aaron Black

18. Jordan Gysberts

34. Max Gawn

50. Mitch Thorpe

PSD1. Joel Macdonald

Not too much different to most of you guys I know, but I would be most pleased if something like this transpired.

Hi All ... this is my first post on the boards. I thought I'd give nearest the pin a crack ...

1. Scully

2. Trengove

11. Talia

18. Melksham

34. Gawn

50. Thorp

Picks 1 and 2 are sorted so it's really 11 and 18 that will be most interesting. I went the U/18 carnival to watch a lot of these kids and Talia was a real standout from where I sat. Classy tall with great decision making and poise. Can play both CHB and CHF and will develop into a quality AFL player. I hope we don't pick Ball when it comes to the crunch at 18. He doesn't want to play for us and I believe there should still be an excellent prospect available who will become a long term gun player for the Dees. I like Jake Melksham if he's available - the guy is a Dal Santo clone with equally sublime skills. At 34 I think we should take a punt on a young ruckman and of those available I like the look of Gawn. Could become the next Sandliands tapping the ball down to Scully, Moloney and co. Lastly at pick 50, I reckon we give Mitch Thorp a second life at AFL as I think he's a genuine talent and would work well in a Watts-Thorpe-Jurrah forward line if he can get himself fully fit. He's only 23 and by all reports is training with hunger at passion down at the junction.

That's it then from me. Only 4 days to go!!

1 Trengove

2 Scully

11 Black

18 Ball

34 Gawn

50 Thorpe

Nothing outrageous here, just the way it will be!

1 Jack Trengove

2 Tom Scully

18 Luke Ball

34 Mitch Thorpe

50 Brock McCauley (although wouldn't mind seeing Patrick or Grimes drafted here, although expect us to take a ruckman considering the interest in Meeson)

PSD Joel Macdonald

End result is 3 mids, 2 young KPP's and 1 running defender and 1 ruckman

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
