  1. RIP Jimmy. Thanks for everything you have given to our great club, and our wider community. You will NEVER be forgotten!
  2. Agreed, our tackling in the last 2 weeks has been far below where it needs to be.
  3. Add Scott West to our list, he was a brilliant player!
  4. I'll have a crack too! 1. Tom Scully 2. Jack Trengove 11. Aaron Black 18. Jordan Gysberts 34. Max Gawn 50. Mitch Thorpe PSD1. Joel Macdonald Not too much different to most of you guys I know, but I would be most pleased if something like this transpired.
  5. If he's still there, the club would take Butcher in a heart beat! I've seen him up close a few times this year, and am more than impressed with what he can do. If available, he would be a huge asset for the club. Black would be my second pick, as I still think that we need another tall down forward to develop along side Watts and Jurrah to provide that potent forward combo that I have been waiting so long for! Bring on the draft!
  6. After seeing him linked to the club in the draft predictions this week, I am a little excited as to what he could bring to the club. Having the potential to develop two very mobile tall forwards (Watts and Black) to complement the mid sized Bate and Jurrah and the smalls like Maric and Wonneamirri, plus the support rotations like Green, Sylvia, Martin etc, could be just the formula to really kick start things in the forward half of our set up. The more I think about it, the more I like it.
  7. While I don't think that Thorpe is a more exciting prospect than Ball, I do believe that the club should and will do their due dilligence on Thorpe in the PSD. Looking at the predicted first round of the National Draft in the Herald Sun and Inside Footy this week, both have most of the quality talls (Butcher, Black, Carlisle and Talia), all being picked up in the first round, which could well leave our pick at 18 without a real standout KPF, especially if there is quality in other positions still available, ie more mids or ruck prospects. Personal issues may be able to be dealt with, and I think that we would be foolish not to see if the footy package he posesses would be a good fit for our club. I'll back the clubs judgement to view whether or not he would be worth the gamble.
  8. There is a lot to like about this bloke. Love his athleticism, and looks like his frame would fill out nicely at AFL level. Impressive to see him picking the ball up off the deck while running at full tilt, how many of the other 190cm+ players could do that at such pace? Also not too bad in contested situations. Haven't seen him live, but really like the look of what I see here. Wonder how he'd fair aginst the bigger bodies?
  9. Have just watched this footage. This guy has an amazing set shot. Didn't show much other than goal kicking though.
  10. Last night was the second time I have seen Temel play this year, and he has really come on since my first viewing about 2 months ago. He seems to have increased workrate and is really learning how to use his body. His kicking was on last night, think he finished with 5.1, and he has a great set of hands on him. As has been stated, he is a big boy. his body kind of reminds me of a young Tom Hawkins, a big lump of kid that will need to put in quite a few hours in the gym over the next few years to turn the mass into muscle. I think that this will also help his pace and agility. There is something about his bloke that I really like, and with a bit of guidance on diet and weights, coupled with game time against men, he could develop into a seriously difficult player to match up on. He could very well be the powerhouse key forward that we have been looking for.... That being said, he may not be as well, but I think that he could be worth the gamble.
  11. Totally agree, and I have noticed this happening all year. The Melbourne Football Club now seems to be a strong, united and very proud club with a bright future on and off the field. As a result this will extend to the playing group giving them even more incentive to play for the pride of the jumper. Young blokes who come into this team need to feel like they are part of the next generation of this great club, a club with real promise and a great all round culture. I tend to think that this will be evident to all new draftees, most of which just want to play at this level, irrespective of club or location. Once they become a part of the club, form friendships within the playing group, and begin the next phase of their life as a professional footballer, 9 times out of 10 they will feel a sense of loyalty and belonging that will drive them in working towards reaching the ultimate success with THEIR club. While few wish to go home, most will not, and if they feel that they are a part of something truly great, they won't be going anywhere. I think the culture that our club is now fostering, will be the major drawcard in retaining and attracting players in the future.
  12. Great game Nathan! I thought that he has progressed really well all year. Lots of grunt and now seems to be finding a lot more space through increased work rate. Hitting targets confidently and with beutiful low delivery, his kicking has really rounded out his game. As our midfield continues to get stronger, I expect Nathan Jones' game to go up to another level. Exciting times ahead.
  13. I don't expect magic everytime the ball goes near him, it just happens! Gotta love it, what a sublime talent. Great recruiting MFC and well deserved praise for Liam Jurrah.
  14. No new info here, just a general reinforcement post. I saw Tom Scully play today. even in the wet this kid is all class. As we all know his hands are amazing, but his kicking was also very good. Low bullet stab passes and penetrating longer kicks, this guy will definitely be a star! Also, his work rate is amazing, he played off a wing all day and just kept running. Solid all round performance. I can't wait to see him in a demon jumper!
  15. TAC Cup had a bye this week. 3 rounds to go until finals.
