Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mine:

-shane woewoeful.... widely recognized as the worst brownlow medalist ever but the DVD attempts to make him a hero

-we;ve just had one of the worst seasons of all time, but the Brisbane game was a turning point? Cmon we lost all our games after that too

Just the absolute optimism of the dvd is so incredible it distorts the reality

-suffers badly from litte, photos, video available from the our glory period in the 50's

-nothing I hadn't already seen or knew about norm smith

-god that purple color from the 80;s was horrible wasnt it?

-didn't realize how bad barassi was when he came back to coach in the 80's

-um yeah. I agree 100% with what I read on here not long ago for a long time we have had no genuine superstars, just very good players Neitz a gun but lets face it he wasnt an Ablett or a Dunstall for that matter. Same with Flower who despite being amazing couldnt get us in finals

lets hope watts and scully change this?

I find the optimism in the DVD far more palatable than ignorant and uniformed slags at players who wore the red and blue proudly from alleged supporters.

While not being the greatest footballer in the world, Woewodin was an absloute credit to himself in the way he prepared and applied himself for AFL and he got the most out of his game. A good lesson to all young footballers. His B'low is a wonderful reward for player who did have a very good season. I just cant see the need to slag him as one of the worst winners ever. Why should he be criticised for winning the B'low for FFS? For guy picked up in the PSD in 1997 and three years later win the B'low ...of course he should be celebrated as a hero.

Its good you know so much about Norm Smith. You clearly have not got a clue about Robbie Flower. Best footballer I have ever seen in 40 years of watching MFC. Its indicative of how bad MFC was that Flower could not get us to the finals before 1987. God knows he did more than enough. In his final year he was pivotal and important to MFC finally getting in the finals for the first time in 23 years. And played brilliantly in the first two finals. If Flower had played in a top team he would have been picked for team of the century ahead of the front running Keith Greig.

RR i agree with every word you say here, Woewodin did a brilliant job from '97 to 2000, his application was flawless. He got the most out of his body. Flower was just a complete Legend who played in very poor sides.

But always busted his gut for the team he trully loved.

Never Bag Robbie around here Mr DVD watcher......

Starting tomorrow we're going to be running a series on the History of the Melbourne Football Club by the Professor. Hopefully, it might help correct some of the misconceptions some people have about our club and its past.

We ran the series a while ago but there's so much interest in the club among supporters these days that we're doing it again in revised form thanks to the efforts of the Professor and our Demonland writers. Hopefully, it will lead in to a new chapter in the club's history and we manage to see a new golden era for the club ...

The fact that Television did not occur in Melbourne until 1956 is a problem that is not the fault of the MFC, & your post almost disrespects the players of that era...almost.

I suggest you read the RED FOX again, and remember that other clubs have only won one flag in 150 years.

Mate, if you don't think Flower was a champion or superstar, you are an absolute disgrace.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
