At the risk of being shot down in flames, I have had it on good authority that there is a big announcement from the MFC next week.

At this stage, that's all I've got - I'm sorry. So, because of that, does anyone have any SERIOUS thoughts on what this could be. I have been told it has nothing to do with players, it is considerably higher up than that.

Sorry folks, it's all I can get. I've never been the rumor-starting type, just thought I'd pass on "something" that I have heard. Can't even name the source. Sounds like a bullsh!t thread, but we'll see what happens.

Sorry belzebub59, if you re-read my post it clearly states that it is higher up than player management, so that will eliminate the "cost of a pie" question and the draft & players concern. If you also re-read my post, I state that what I have put in the original post is all that I have. This is a quote from the email that I have received...

"Have you heard anything about the MFC? Something is going on. A fella came in today - very up on the club - and said there is something huge happening but he wouldn't tell me what!! Sworn to secrecy. Said that all would be known within the week."

While my post has minimal substance, I did ask if anyone had any SERIOUS opinions on what it could be. Again, I'm happy to apologise for wasting peoples time if nothing is announced, but thought I'd share it with you all anyway. Atleast if there is news, I can say you heard "it" from me first - just a shame I can't tell you what "it" is!!!

im melbournes number 1 draft pick folks! you heard it here first ;)

If the mods could please delete this thread, as it is going to clog up this site.

If I receive any further news with more substance, I will happily post it to keep all informed. I aologise for wasting everyone's time regarding this matter.

That will depend on how you play for the combined Demon websites team on Sunday mate.

Sorry to put you under pressure but I believe that several recruiting scouts from a number of AFL clubs will be there to watch the game.

I would suggest that's why this story is in the "news pending" box until after the weekend.

Cheers,

WJ

PS: That applies to the rest of you blokes (and the lady in the team)!

PPS: Have you nominated for the draft yet?

I heard something about some kind of social event or something a few weeks ago from someone who works at the club. They said it was going to be an EPIC club event and hopefully not too expensive for the average Jo Blow.

Whether this is the same thing or not I have no idea.

Well sponsorship is tied up for another year so it's not that.

Something happening down at Casey?

Has Ball seen the light?

News on Jim?

...could be anything

is it ?? Can always bring on board more money...at some level.. Someone walks up and says heres 3 mill or such...you turn your back?

Something happening down at Casey?

Has Ball seen the light?
that light is the Mack Trucks headlights at end of tunnel

News on Jim?
actually was my first thoughts.. ..i'll just leave it there

...could be anything
and probably is ;)

I heard a really good joke recently.

There's this bloke, pretty sure it was a bloke but might have been a chick.

Anyway, he had this really funny interaction with a second party, I can't remember the details.

It was quite humorous though!

I thought that might appeal to the original poster. ;)

.....

What, you mean the club might actually tell us something?

Actually put an article on our website that keeps us informed??

Nah.. ;)

Sounds to me like a sincere attempt to give us "some information". If we were in the pub - we'd probably be thanking you.

Put your money on the announcement being the jumper. If all of a sudden there is a cleanout of 2009 Jumpers with 2 new sponsors on board in their first year then it must mean we are going to see the traditional Melbourne jumper come back and not that shocking orange and dark purple thing we are wearing these days. If you go look at the merchandise on the melbournefc website you will see that the adult long sleeve and the kids gurnseys are on special but not the adult sleeveless...why is that so?

The only time that other adult jumpers were on special was if we switched sponsors or suppliers..

Expect a press conference out the front of the MCC with Jack Watts wearing the new (well actually its old) jumper i say...you heard it first!

So you have it on "good authority" and that authority according to your next post is an email you got from someone who said someone else came in and said something will be announced.

Well that is about as good an "authority" as there is.

Is it going to be announced that Hoopla is to run the MFC?

He's certainly good enough despite the hilarity of his posts, the man knows his football and is a better supporter of the club than Coxy!

I have heard a rumour through a usually reliable source, but I doubt what I have heard is what the OP is referring to, and similarly doubt its truth because if there were some truth to it, I would have thought it would have been mentioned here by somebody already.

Thanks Hoopla. Goes to show the level of some people on this site. In my post it quite clearly stated that I had no idea what the news is going to be, and was searching for someone else that might be closer to the Club than I to maybe give us a hint, but it still managed to bring out the idiots. For a minute I thought I actually posted it on the Magpies website.

Redleg - In regards to the "good authority", not once did I mention that I spoke directly to the person, but to put your tiny little mind at ease, the email was from my mother, and it was her (who is also a Melbourne member) that was speaking to this "good authority".

I have learned the hard way that if you put up peanuts, you will definitley attract monkeys.

Thanks for the personal abuse Billy it always amuses me when people resort to it instead of providing an intelligent answer.

By the way, lets also not let the facts get in the way of your abuse and incorrect recounting of my post. If you read my post (#17) again you will note that I acknowledged that you received an email and "never" said that you "spoke" to anyone.

My post was directed to your "good authority" who is the person who spoke to the person who emailed you and who is "up on the club" whatever that means.

A new logo perhaps? Bringing back the Demon....

That was my thoughts Harry.

Gotta be better than the crap that Brisbane Lions released.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
