Ball was good enough to be included on GF day. Which means StKilda rate him In there best side. I find It hard to believe you would choose Jones and Moloney ANYDAY over Ball. Considering we took out the spoon I dont think our midfield Is looking that good. Scully and Trengove will take a couple of years at least to start hitting there straps and Ball will be a perfect fit to lead and teach the young kids.

Correct. Collingwood also rate him. All being well, he is a former Captain who would also fill a void for interim leadership at Melbourne. Jesse Smith is also interesting. I haven't seen alot of him to be honest but what i have is good.

Whilst not wanting to tip a bucket on anyones enthusiasm for Jurrah & Watts is anyone else concerned about their physical size at the moment to play these key positions

Posted

Watts is still a few pre-seasons away from really asserting himself on any backline IMHO.... As one would expect....

But Jurrah is a bit different.... He has the ability to totally freak out any defender and pulls off the unthinkable.... His biggest asset is his X-Factor and his leap..... Body size is neither here nor there with Jurrah....

The team listed above looks great. The 'any of' IC list shows that we would be able to cover injured on-ballers pretty well. I agree with the size issue up forward and for this reason I hope we take a punt on Temel. Anyone have any idea if we would be safe (i.e. he won't already be taken) to pick him up with pick 18?

Also, does anyone know how Garland's foot is coming along? Wonna's hammy? I really hope those two are up and about for the preseason.

How dare you not put Moloney in the 22! He had a great year will come 2nd in the B+F. I don't know why he is so underrated - he performs, provides some grunt and along with his presence on the field, his role offfield is important as a senior figure and big clubman. He will be one of the first picked every week in 2010 for sure.

You should also have

VALENTI

BARTRAM

DUNN

JETTA

CHENEY

MARTIN

MILLER

BUCKLEY

SPENCER

MEESEN

BELL

P.JOHNSON

There are some good ones in that group

Fair bit of wishful thinking there. The hardest part about these exercises is fitting everyone in. You've omitted several walk-up starts, including the captain, have no 2nd ruck and a third of the list on the I/C ;)

Not sure if I like the idea of Jurrah played up the ground, he is so damaging near goal. And the opposite for Watts, in the future they'll be wanting to use his marking power & athleticism up the ground, I think you'll see him rotating through a forward flank or a wing, they certainly won't be playing him full forward without another mature body out there for support, Miller, possibly Martin with Jamar rotating through, Garland even... I like Green down there though.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
