Burgoyne meeting with Davey & Bails

Just heard on SEN Burgoyne is meeting with Davey and Bailey in Collins st.

What do we do?

Offer Jamar + another player for him. Port woud give us Pick 9 or 10 for him anyway.

Or PSD?

I would prefer PSD myself. Put him a similar contract to Davey.

Would Port really givepick 9/10 for Jamar? seems way over the odds to me.

I want to know from all fans, do we want Burgoyne? simple yes or no. i am undecided. if the majority is yes, then pick 18 and Jamar for him maybe?

I'd be happy to get Burgoyne but i'd rather get our hands on PA's pick 8 or 9 (whichever one it is) in exchange for Jamar and pick 18.

No way. Tim Harrington would have the papers signed before the ink had dried if that were put on the table.

I disagree. I think Tim would be that excited that he wouldn't be able to stop shaking and get a clean signature away.

Anyone who seriously thinks we are going to get a first round pick for Jamar is smoking the good stuff. If he had of played 22 games this season rather than 7 and peformed all season as he did in those 7 maybe.............. but he did not.

Jamar is worth more to us than anyone else.

As for Burgoyne, I consider him about as good as Yze pre 2007. Would be great to get hold of but at what cost? It is unlikely Burgoyne will get to us via the PSD as he will also nominate for the National Draft where you would expect Hawthon to pick him at 9. If he nominated for the PSD he want to come to us.

Can't see us getting him.

I would like to see us play this week very cool. With all of the activity there is a good chance that a player of some quality will be available to us in the PSD.

yeah PSD for me i have a feeling this is the player that has been talked about melbourne trying to lure....

I would'nt be so keen on trading too much for him maybe Jamar, Bell and our late ND pick would be good for us and port have no legs to stand on if they want to deal with us he is not a need but would be a good get

Burgoyne = Yes for mine.

We will need a top midfielder to get the number 1 tag while our boys are developing. Imagine Cameron Ling tagging Scully, Trengove or Grimes. Throw PB in the guts and it will free up those kids. He will be 27 at Round 1 next year, still has 3 big years, then maybe 1-2 years as a HFF that can still have an impact (ie Shane Crawford last year).

Offering Jamar as a trade = not for me. He is 26, showed improvement this year (kicked 5 goals in a game), and should be our No 1 ruck for the next 3 years until our next ruck has developed.

I'd be happy to get Burgoyne but i'd rather get our hands on PA's pick 8 or 9 (whichever one it is) in exchange for Jamar and pick 18.

agree -I feel we have many midfielder types now- however prefer to get him through the PSD. I have also heard re Adam White's twitter that Jamar was offered a two year contract from us late yesterday.

Yes I do believe Jamar is worth Ports second first round pick if they have it! That would be Pick 9 or 10.

Would possibly have to add another player though. McNamara, Valenti, Dunn, Newton, Miller, Bell etc.

I would rather keep Pick 18.

Jamar+18 or PSD! :)

Come on Davey, work your magic!

Jamar + 18 is probably about fair. But I really would like an unfair deal.

I agree about an unfair deal we don't need him but would be a good get for a bargain price don't wanna give much away

I'm smoking the good stuff and still relise we wouldnt get close to a first round pick for Jamar. For Burgoyne I'd offer pick 18 and Jamar.. We shouldnt even consider giving up pick 11. 1,2 and 11 all off the table.

I would not give up any of our first 4 picks for Burgoyne. Yep, not even 18, as i believe 11 and 18 need to be used on drafting KPF's, as that is an area that is needed to be addressed significantly more than getting Burgoyne.

If we were to get him through the PSD then i'm all for it. As for the Jamar situation, he will not command a pick 8 or 9 from Port (we got pick 11 for McLean, there's no way we can work 2 miracles in a week) and he is worth more than a second rounder IMO. He's now, what Sylvia was last year, more valuable to us if we kept him than traded him.

Jamar is our #1 ruck atm, PJ seems to be enjoying going backwards on his roller coaster career, Meesen is an unknown (3 decent games is not a good indicator) and Spencer will need to improve out of sight (he is a dud and a liability on the field atm, and will only turn out to be as good as Blake of Geelong, at best)

Sounds like Port and Hawthorn are at a genuine stalemate now, Burgoyne would probably be getting very frustrated with this. If he ends up going to Melbourne it has to be PSD IMO which he may be more open to now.

PSD it is then.

If Port are knocking back Hawthorns offer of pick 9 and a player, I really doubt pick 18 and an ordinary run of the mill player like Jamar will ticky their fancy.

I still can't see Burgoyne going anywhere except Hawthorn.

There's no way Jamar should be put on to the table. Not even for pick 9. Who are we going to put into the middle..Spencer?

I say we have a little whisper in the ear of Burgoyne and pick him up at pick #1 PSD. That my friends would be ideal.

I thought it was Hawthorn knocking back pick 9, not Port??

If Port are saying no to pick 9 they will probably lose him for nothing, because nobody will give them much more than that. He may be a good player but at 27 and with a dodgy knee, 9 is a very very good deal.

No they are not knocking back pick 9 they are happy with this but they require a qlty player also and hawthorn arn't prepared (at this stage) to give them the type of player they are after

Which sounds to me like Port want pick 11 and jamar from us then, or am I reading too much into this.

He won't get to Hawthorn in the National Draft, he would have to nominate a contract length and price which to go to Hawthorn has to be about 450K a year, which is well below is market value and would get picked up by most teams after pick 5... He can't nominate 600K because Hawthorn cannot get him under the cap and the AFL doesn't allow a club to change the deal after the draft as it is consider tampering.... He will have to be traded to Hawthorn or Essendon as he won't get there in the draft

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
