Carrot for MCC Members?

Tricky

Recommended Posts

Last I was aware, there are loads of MCC members who are MFC supporters but still not members.

Is enough being done to try and rectify this? I know the club offers the token $50 membership, information for which is sent out with the MCC renewal every year (which is good). But why are so many still not taking this up?

Would any MCC/MFC members out there be willing to spread a survey or the like around to all those present in the members area wearing melbourne colours at games to find out? Or perhaps some MCC members not signed offer their feedback here...

Also - regarding the "Premium MFC/MCC" membership offering - how about including a real incentive? Entry to 11 games is a lay down misere for them anyway. OK the kids membership is one reasonable inclusion but hardly worth the $160. How about a sweetener like access to the social club? This would unite MFC members from both sides of the G something the club claims is important. Not sure how many would be interested but I for one have discussed this with a handful who ALL would be. Currently they part with the $50 but not the additional $110. When I catch up with them at games, we buy guest passes ($20 a pop or close enough) which gives them social club access but obviously the ongoing financial commitment to the club would be a far superior option...

Anyone have any ideas?

How about a membership card that allows you entry into the General Admission gates so you don't have to walk around to the MCC and back through if you want to sit with your mates who aren't MCC.

I'm not an MCC member but I go to the footy with one and it would make it a lot easier if this was an option with the add-on.

Slightly off-topic, but I think the MCC should allocate a whack of GF tickets to members who have allocated either of the competing teams on their membership form.

Currently there is no real incentive for MCC members to become MFC members, except for those who want to financially support the club. Maybe for Premium MFC/MCC (Full Members) there could be a guaranteed Grand Final seat should the MFC compete?

i don't think thats the biggest issue facing memebers, its not hard to walk to gate 2 and then back out once in

As an MCC/MFC member one thing i would love to see included is entry to an MFC away game.

Allowing entry to a Docklands away game would actually be a real benefit for mcc members.

MFC/MCC premium members ($160) get this already.

As for incentives, I don't know that there's much else the club can do, apart from promote the warm, fuzzy feeling that you get by donating to the club.

Re: access to MFC away games or home games at Docklands - the club did that for MFC/MCC members many moons ago. It was a good setup, but I'm unsure why it was discontinued. You got two away games at Docklands as part of your MFC/MCC membership, but it might have cost a bit less.

excellent point mate. spot on.

i do it anyway, but if they offered entry into any vic home etihad games if applicable or one etihad away game then you would get a significant lift in new MCC/MFC members (the $50 one - which is officially counted as a membership now)

That'd be good. I sign up anyway, but that would probably mean I would go to the Docklands games.

I think a social Club Membership along with MFC/MCC membership would be great.

I didn't even know we had a social club so please give me details....

WYL - i was referring to the Hassett room at the G, available during home games - players, board members are available and is a great atmosphere.

I think it's only available to premium (Trident, Redleg & Presidents) members...

Ok, The Hassett Room is that in the Great Southern (I have never been over that side of the Ground!!!) But there are many times after a win i would love 17 beers with a few hundred Demon Supporters.

It is what this club needs more than anything. A Home for us all to meet after Games. There are small gatherings around the 'G, But we need one Central location for all.

Suits & T Shirts, everyone.....

Further to your point WYL, we need a place we can all meet in the city...anywhere!

Anyone who has ever been to the Napier will know what I'm talking about - their light fittings are all decked out in Fitzroy colours still! If we won a premiership, we'd have no place to celebrate as a whole (apart from everywhere obviously). I'd just love a Demon pub to drink at

The club has spoken about creating an 'MFC area' in the Olympic Room and Jim Stynes room area. This is right next to the MCC, where the presidents club members sit and where the Presidents lunch is held so would be perfect way to get everyone together. At the moment it is open to anyone to buy tickets in that area but it would be fantastic if we could lock it down.

Anyone know what the Jim Stynes room is used for on game day?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
