Excellent news!

Frog is out of contract next year. It is a well known fact that the two Davey brothers are desperate to play together. I understand Melbourne will now make a play for Frog this year and if that fails will go again next year when his contract is complete.

Now lets put our logic cap on. Say you are Essendon and you know how desperately these guys want to play together. If you are Essendon when Melbourne approaches in regards to Arwyn do you:

a: dismiss the approach and back yourself to resign Arwyn next year when Melbourne will not have the run of the mill as far as picks etc.

b: take the conservative road. Except that there is a high likelihood that Arron will try and push Arwyn to Melbourne at the end of next season when his contract is up. At that time Melbourne will not have the riches to offer Essendon due to GC. Thus it is in Essendon's interest to deal this year.

The pendulum has swung in our direction. Don't be surprised if Frog is a Dee next year. Now we have signed Arron to 4 years it would be in Essendon's best interest.

It's Aaron and Alwyn.

So he's staying.

He'd better become an A grader then.

He will.

Scully will make him look better than he is.

But I'm OK with that.

I reckon you're one of the few people on this site who isn't thrilled with the news.

Personally I was warming to the prospect of a great trade however I'm just as happy that he's stayed with us. Marketing wise it was important for the club and our supporter base (well, mainly the supporter base)

Now, let's go after Hurley.

yeah, like he wants to play for Melbourne.

Pick a realistic target perhaps.

Maybe have another crack at Alwyn.

Absolutely brilliant news, no doubt about it. Glad this saga is over and now we can look forward to the draft.

very good player but 4 years was too much. I thought 3 years was in his favour but he had a strong argument.

No doubt he ticks other boxes, probably the best example of any aboriginal in his approach and preparation, but 4 years is for the elite players like Hodge. He is not elite. He is just Melbournes best at present.

Glad he is staying but Essendon have pushed up his contract here. Some over on the Essendon website are saying just deserts as we did the same thing re:Aalwyn last year.

Anyway, we lose our slowest player to Carlton, and keep our fastest. bring on 2010.

PJ might have something to say about this

Scratch that Hurley revenge:

CamSchwab By the way, Essendon never made an offer to Aaron Davey. Focus was securing Aaron and his family's future beyond his playing career.

Yeah, you're right. Hurley fits into Essendon's culture very, very well, perhaps a little too well

What the hell does that mean? Are we puting him up in a business?

Absolutely rapt that he has resigned. I was very worried. As late as tonight I was listening to the radio ( McGuire et. al.) and it was mentioned that Davey was attracting interest from other teams.

4 years is a great outcome.

We've paid over the odds for him but I guess we are lucky that it came at the right time when we had the room to move. Happy to have kept him but not happy the way the club was held to ransom by him. He should never be made captain now. The next captain should be somebody that puts the club 1st.

Agreed. I dont resent him at all for what he has done but definately he is no longer captain material.

Might be buying him some real estate, or some shares.

Think laterally Mono.

I don't want to bring the mood down, but IMO Davey has played the best year of his football career and has cashed in. Not that he doesn't deserve a show of faith, but as far as I'm concerned 4 years is a mistake for just about any club with just about any player. I'm glad he's still at the club, but 4 years is just a huge show of faith. Too huge really.

We do have the opportunity to front-end his contract though, which I guess could work in our favour.

I was referring to the length of the contract but I am sure that the $$$'s would be pretty close to what Essendon was offering.

Hey DanDEEman... you out there?

you can admit you were wrong and i was right any time mate... fool!

Not very gracious in victory are we? Get over yourself mate. Just post the bit where I was wrong?

What I posted were facts ie:

-your recent predictions hadn't come to fruition and

-that second hand info from journos that they won't print is unreliable and shouldnt be trusted. First hand info from journos is unreliable enough.

I admit you were right with the four years........ so one from three is not bad but still not reliable.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
