Yeah, chill out man

Dude, I'm like just leaning to the Tren, but think Mora is way worthy of like being on our list. And I like them both cos like I've seen them like live.

I feel like i am reading the script to "The Big Lebowski"

Mannnn, like, you're making me crave a white russian...

Like, soooooooo craving.

In response to Hannibal, I haven’t seen either; however, if it is a toss of the coin, will it come back to what type of player the Demon’s need more?

In the last 2 drafts we’ve focused mainly on outside runners:

Outside: Morton, Bennell, Strauss, Maric, Wona

Both inside/outside: Blease, Grimes and from what I’ve heard, Scully too.

Inside: McKenzie, Valenti (if he stays on) maybe Jetta.

For balance I think we may need another purely inside midfielder to compliment the outside runners.

In the 2006, 2005 draft we picked up one of each in Petterd (outside) and Jones (inside).

2003 – McLean (inside), Davey (outside) and Sylvia (a bit of both).

We must have faith that the outside mids we’ve recruited will be good, our current stock of inside mids are not as polished in my opinion.

Therefore, we must go the best inside mid at pick 2, whether that player is Trengove is for others to decide.

I think Scully will, like, tie the place together, man.

I watched the Championships at the Dome and that night I watched the replays on IQ. The amount you miss on the television and the different perspective you glean is extraordinary.

You're welcome to disagree.

If people haven't seen a player live I won't take the slightest interest in their view.

Got your point he first time you posted it. I opened with an acknowledgement that I haven't seen either live.

Unfortunately, and in spite of your lack of 'interest', we don't all post here in order to seek your approval. It's a vehicle to express opinion. I'm sure you know your footy, and I'm glad you're all Dees, but let's not turn this site into Demonology.

a question to those well informed, but what do you guys reckon would be the perception of morabito, if he had played in a top 4 side in the wafl, like trengove in the sanfl?

For those of you that don't know, he was playing in the bottom side this year.

From the accounts posted here about Morabito , he sounds very much like an early Moloney who could grab the ball and kick the crap out of it without being too concerned as to its destination .

We know now that Moloney has been able to change his kicking for good and not evil , so there is no reason why Morabito cannot be taught the same skill whilst he is still young and impressionable .

The issue with Morabito doesn't seem to be kicking, but rather his decision making.

He seems to be a bit of a slow blinker.

I hope you've seen him live otherwise your opinion doesn't count. And I hope it's more than once because a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Alas no (well, technically yes, because I saw him last year but he's changed a lot since then and I wasn't really watching him because he was underage). But you can pick up trends when there is so much footage of Morabito available. There is certainly plenty to get excited about, but with pick 1 and 2 he appears to lack in the areas we can't afford him to. 4th and short is not the time to throw a Hail Mary pass.

On the flip side, I'd have no idea at all whether or not Trengove is a good kick/decision maker or whatever, only his style of play because I've only seen him once (and not live!) and according to a poster here (can't remember who) ...

"it's hard to have a valued opinion unless you've seen the subjects live. And often".

All I can do is go on the reports of people who have watched him several times and have picked up trends. Their reports are generally favourable and, based on their reports, I hope Trengove is at Melbourne next year.

For what it's worth. Here's a Twitter conversation between Cameron Schwab and Emma Quayle:

CS: "Who should the Dees draft with 1 and 2?"

EQ: “Shouldn't you be telling me!!??”

CS: “common, give it a fly...1,2, 18 etc”

EQ: “I must admit that (Scully aside) I like Morabito for you guys. I can see him on one wing and Blease on the other!”

CS: “it will be a tough one. I like Morabito. Bit Pav/Goodes like.”

EQ: “I stood next to him at the champs and he's huge. Could complement Scully, McLean, Jones, Sylvia, Grimes & co.”

EQ: “ps, only $10 for that advice... :)

lol godemons, at first i thought what you posted was bs, but checked it out myself and it is fact, good to hear morabito gettin a bit of a pump up.

I wonder if they have seen him play live! <_<

Agree with you there Bob.

While I have only seen both on video, I believe I can still have an opinion about the way a player plays or trends that a player may carry.

Of course I agree that you would miss a lot through watching videos only, but you don't need to see a match live to view somebody's kicking technique for example.

Based on the footage I have seen on both Trengove and Morabito and having played to a fairly high standard of football myself, I would say that Trengove is the better decision maker of the two. I was once on the "Morabito can't kick" bandwagon but if you look closely, it's not his technique that is wrong. It's his decision making. He seems to rush and blaze away sometimes. Not necessarily a bad thing. It seems that from an outsider's point of view, he has more time than he thinks he has.

Now in my (fairly uneducated) view, Trengove seems to have more composure when in possession of the ball and has an aire of confidence about him. Maybe that's part of why he was chosen as captain. Maybe that's why people like myself used to think he had a better kicking action, or could hit targets more often.

But coming back to who I think we should draft. Trengove for me still. I think it's just a personal thing but also just the way he plays. He reminds me so much for Joel Selwood. He looks like a ready made player that would make an impact from the start and we haven't had many of them in the past if you think about it. Most of the players we have drafted have been fairly raw, under-developed with lots of room for improvement. (e.g. Watts, Morton, Jetta, Bennell, Blease will be another).

Regardless of who we get, I think the next few years will be very exciting. There is a lot of talent there and Bailey and co. are doing a brilliant job with the development of our youngsters.

Go Dees.

If you haven't seen a player live ...

Fair enough. You obviously really mean what you're saying. Having seen both of the boys live, who would you take and why?

dude... let the recruiters do their work, if its morabito or trengove, we should accept whoever we pick up. But if i was picking it would be dude...Morabito.

Excellent point (underlined)

Cheers for that Gd..

Hadnt heard b4.. very interesting..

really sounds like its down to Mora/Trenny for pick 2 (providing nothing major happens at the camps..)

I did the same that night. Still haven't deleted it. :) Agree with being there, you can see them work off the ball. Scully's coverage of the ground handicapped (blocked nose) was extraordinary.

Prefer the Lethal interview. Amusing nonetheless.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
