Jack, please do yourself a favour and roll up to the saints next game early and watch riewoldts warm up, then just watch how much he runs and runs and runs

Well said. Riewoldt is exactly the type of player Watts needs to evolve into and the Dees need.

Garry Lyon said on MMM a few weeks ago exactly the same thing. He said for a player like Jack to follow Nicks training by going doing there and watching his finals matches. Once he had watched these games and training sessions that this is the benchmark he has to attain to.

Garry also said for our midfield to watch players like Lenny Hayes & Joel Sellwood (again, in training & finals matches).

Seems like a bloody good idea for me...........

Roo and Watts are close mates aren't they?

No, they've met once through Grant Thomas. Watts knows one of Thomas's kids through Brighton Grammar and he happened to be at the Thomas house when Riewoldt was there meeting with Thomas.

Nice thread BA

Common sense would tell me, Lyon or someone close to the club, would have had a quiet word to the boys already.

Havent heard much about the lads so far, in this 1st part of the off-season.. not even Slyvia!

So mabbe they are at the games taking notes, instead of at niteclubs taking..who knows what.. ;)

my message to Watts. would be to take up some boxing, tuffen the lad up a bit ;)

Jack should also spend some time in the weights room over pre-season.

Jack don't overdo, abuse your body. You can't & won't get Riewoldts engine all in one season.

Stick to the fitness staffs plan. Players not only need a huge engine, but also need to learn the right AFL skills, as well as building bulk. I think a 3yr plan to build his physique & adapt to the AFL level & become intuitive @ that level.

I'd be happy if over that 3 yr period young Jack has accumulated 55 - 60 odd games.

Good luck Jack.

140 + goals in that in those 55-60 games would be very nice. :)

Thanks for posting that article. It was a great read. I didn't imagine that Grant Thomas had that in him.

I'm excited at this kid's prospects. Go Dees.

Barry, I could only agree with you wholeheartedly. That was a great article, and I can only hope Grant's sentiments are true.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
