I don't follow your rationale. You are suggesting trading an uncontracted player and going backwards on a pick, when we could simply delist him and keep the better pick. Why would anyone do that?

I would certainly be happy with trading a couple of unwanted contracted players and a pick for an improvement in picking order or for a player and lesser pick.

Not to split hairs but we would be moving up one in the draft.

But you're right it is a better example with a contracted player like Bell, Newton, PJ, and Dunn.

A 'pointless' trade becomes very pointed if you are looking for spots on the list.

With mcdonald playing on youd think after robbo we'd need atleast another 2 delistings.

Be interesting to see who ends up being delisted.

I cant see all of the current rookies remaining.. 1 will go.

I forsee some inspired trading in such a fashion as we not only reduce our list but improve a pick. It will be a double win in that sense.

I still think we wil have 6 new faces at Melbourne for 2010.. that means one player is simply delisted to fulfill this.

Whelan, Wheatley, Robbo (3)...... trade to increase spot (4) rookie delisting (5) a player delisted (6)

Got any ideas for a delisted player and rookie delisting.

well.. maybe its a process of elimination

Spencer is a keeper.. ruck stocks

Mckenzie .is showing a bit.

Valenti will either be promoted ( offered) or traded.. he may or not be the space created by trade deals. It a bit iffy though as Im not 100% how the inclusion of Rookies in the draft and how they are currently affected in trading. ( Happy for clarifiaction here )

Healy's been hamstrung with injury

Hughes .. occasional glimpses

Zomer not exactly setting any thing on fire

I would say Trent is the man in the danger zone.

Am thinking whoever is the worst of those coming off their 2 years will be told to just keep walking

One of Spencer and Valenti will be promoted with the other let go.

But that doesn't help us find 6 spots on our main list.

What's your plan for "trading" to get another spot? A Newton for pick 80 sort of deal? We need to find 3 more players - Buckley, Bartram are probably the two most likely to go.

Imnot sure that itsw one or other with Spencer and Valenti...but there is merit in that thinking. Will depend upon what sort of balance and depth the FD is looking for in the midfield.

If you trade a playe and a pick for two picks.. arguably one further down the list then that in turn can be combine with another to possibly better the quality of one pick. There will be some clubs just clammering for picks.. We are lucky..we have a bonus one and they are early ones.. Not all clubs have this. Soe cant be ultimately too too fussy even in a bad(shallower) draft as they will some stocks..!!

Who would you trade though, for what sorts of picks?

Valenti and Spencer can't be re-rookied this year.

who to trade..?? picks ??

there simply is no hard and fast nor easy answer. everything is interconnected..team wise. it all depends on what all the various FD's see as their needs and their excesses. Trade week kind of grows organically. Starts with mayeb one or two simple trades then blossom into convluted deals ..often hanging on club A dealings with club F then and only then can D trade or offer G anything etc..

If Jamar wants to be traded then we look to a deal with whom ever offers us teh best currency..either for pick or a player we need/can on-trade etc.

Valenti will either be promoted or will walk into the draft.Spencer I can see us retaining/elevating. Do we get anything for Valenti in that scenario ? I dont think so ...happy to be corrected.

If Robbo goes to another club Im not sure on any implications there either. We may get something as he's still contracted through the trade period I believe.

I can see us shopping Miller and Newton, Barttram PJ, Bell, Buckley, Jones and Petterd

This isnt to say you necessailry want rid of ANY...it just may be prudent to take top whack wilst they have improved currency due to perceived draft failings ( from other clubs perspectives )

i.e. Strike whilst iron hot...its what Hawthorn did..its what we must learn to do. its the business of football..nothing more...nothing less.

If it were a hand of cards (500) I would call an open misere. Dont think we will [censored] Petterd unless there is a deal there.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
