He's had a couple of classy touches but the previous post has a point.

Having said that I'm happy to wait for another two pre-seasons before having too many expectations on him.

I think the criticism of Jack Watts is a bit over the top. He's playing a differing role today, pushing back when required and is definitely getting involved physically on a day made for small men. I think he's showed a fair bit of class. Miller is starting to impose himself on the game and PJ doing OK in the ruck.

It's a day made for players like Bartram (who has been a prolific ball getter), Wheels and Bail's getting a bit of it.

I'm also liking the game of Danny Hughes.

Watts looks soft, lets not beat around the bush.

Cant even land a tackle.

No excuse for that.

Newton is demonstrating why he plays for Casey, poor disposal and decision making.

Back onto Watts, he's coming of a rest so he's probably a little rusty. There's probably a bit of 'let down' factor as well, can't imagine playing for Casey would be as exciting as a game at the G against the pies or Bombers. *Please don't take offense Casey supporters

This is why people need to accept he will not play afl and SHOULD NOT play afl. The last thing we need is more players who cannot dispose the football properly.

I'd like to see you go in harder. He is 18 and weighs only just over 80kg so it's not surprising his attack on the footy is not up to scratch. He is, however, all class with the football in his hands.

Ha ha, no need to get personal. Being 18 and 80 odd kg is no reason not to keep your head over the ball. I said he needs to improve this and im sure he will. The guy is a number one draft pick and he needs to start showing us why. No one expects him to kick a bag but he should be having an influence at this level. He has done some nice things today but if his name wasn't jack watts i wouldn't have noticed him

Newton kicked the only goal for the quarter and Frankston was held goalless - 8.9.57 to 3.6.24

Do you have any reserves details KC?

Thanks

I will put up the details when available. Trent Zomer was the only Demon who played in the reserves. Conditions were not really made for big blokes like him but he kicked a couple.

I really don't understand how anyone can criticize Watts' game today.

He has done very well for a big guy playing in a completely foreign position in horrendous conditions.

His class is evident, his handballing skills are unbelievable, he knows where to run and position himself even when playing in new roles. He is just a naturally smart player. Can't teach that.

He may not lay bone-crunching tackles, but he hasn't done anything today that would make you think "he should have gone there but didn't".

His snap around the body for goal is just another example of class rising to the top.

Edit: Watts' ankle is fine. No need to panic!

crumbing goal to Creed..out to 59

Rosco reckons he's fine.

And if you're going to wear a headband, you'd better kick better than that.

An avalanche in the last quarter which has been an absolute benefit for Casey. Miller's kicked his fourth. Newton has four & the difference is 98 points.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
