Casey Reserves were competitive against top team Williamstown but were swamped in the second half to go down by 46 points.

No Demons in the team.

Goals Dunn Hughes Maric Valenti

Some apalling kicking for goal. Maric kicked into the man on the mark from 15 metres out and Williamstown ran the ball down the ground for a mark and goal to Little. Matthews missed an easy shot just before the siren.

Should be in front.

I have a theory about Shane Valenti that he improves as a game goes on. Im that case, Casey will win.

Seems like Strauss doesn't work hard enough or something.

He's supposed to be a "run the lines" type player yet is rarely seen. When he does run with the ball he looks promising.

WHY?

I really have high hopes for him, the more time with casey the more chance he has to prove he can play with the dees.

Hughes has been good.

I agree.

Dunn and Valenti are too good for this level.

Wheatley must be close

Bell is finished

and it is the best I have seen Bartram kick the ball.

No one is really starring.

Maric fine.

They have Willy covered comfortably now.

He's been OK (how good is his tackling!), but you can really tell that many of the experienced Melbourne players with Casey today, are there because they have disposal issues.

Dunn is so frustrating. Absolutely brilliant at this level, but cannot transfer that to AFL.

Maric has had a hand in plenty of goals. He is a very smart player, and never should have been dropped when we desperately lack small forwards.

Edit: great goal from Straussy. He is such a good user of the ball, but doesn't seem to get a lot of it.

Another Edit: Cloke has certainly been enjoying his burgers since his early demise.

Is there a skills coach at Melbourne?

He must also be looking after the Scorpians.

Unfortunately, I saw nothing from any of the Melbourne listed players that would suggest they're good enough to play AFL.

Valenti was very good in the 3/4 of the game I saw.

He's a very good VFL player, but far too slow for AFL...

Although you could say that about Melbourne's entire midfield list.

    Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was.
