So from my vantage point on the moon (thanks Ticketmaster!), I can only say that I wish Warnock was playing.

Jurrah's almost goal the highlight so far.

How's the umpiring from up there?

JJUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEN screamed for a good 10 seconds. I have no idea what happened. I think he dropped mark of the year, and kicked a goal off the ground...

It's amazing what a forward or two does to a side. They've played 1 game between them, and suddenly the set-up has pulled us back from the brink...

The Jurrahcane is certainly living up to the hype.... far out, he is quick, he is a good kick, he can jump and he is dead set EXCITING!!

He is a very quick thinker by the looks of it and he has some bloody clean hands.

He probably should have 2.1 rather than 1.2 ....

How's the umpiring from up there?

Surprisingly it's still [censored], but at least now we are both getting stupid ones paid against us.

This quarter will forever be known as the birth of the superstar forwardline.

Watts did one insane handball that almost surpassed Jurrah's magic... Almost ;)

Half time:

Demons: 8.3 51

Bombers: 10.7 67

No doubt about it, we're getting done. 17 scoring shots to 11, and we're accurate (if you don't count Jurrah's two touched on the lines).

Bruce has been our standout apparently. Not that anyone will mention it.

Green VERY busy and looking like he could assert himself.

Grimes doing what he does well. One of the most exciting factors.

PJ has impressed some commentators. Started roughly with a fifty, but has done a fair bit and had 19 taps for those who are counting them. Again, I'm sure this will be ignored by our resident "experts."

Jurrah has been electrifying, and you can tell all eyes are on him. It's clear already that his ceiling is not VFL. His skills and pace translate beautifully.

Brock 14 touches.

Miller presenting. Not confident yet, but doing his job.

Beamer 17 touches. Very good but not yet a matchwinner.

Sylvia has been very good. A calm head. Got us out of trouble a fair bit.

Special mention to Frawley, who is outmarking Lloyd. Actually, Lloyd hasn't taken a mark. Has 3 goals from 3 frees.

Also Bate, who seems to be linking well if not often.

Morton only 6 handballs. Davey has been good but not quite his best. Rivers, Whelan and Bartram aren't going quite as well.

Oh dear. Wheels have come off. If we can get within 30 points I'd be ok with that. Within 15, that'd be best case scenario. But we're looking at a 45 point smashing here.

apart from being extremely frustrated with the ridiculous umpiring (WTF are they doing to our game?). Points to note from the Dees:

1. Continually held up after taking a mark. Do the players two kicks away not read the play? FMD, no initiative what so ever

2. Kick in's - enough said

3. Tackling. Too many missed.

4. Paul Johnson in the ruck Vs Ryder. That's just unfortunate from the stock available.

5. When you are a bad team, what ever happened to playing man on man?

I'm not upset with the way we are playing but geez, Bailey needs to practice not only game sense + decision making but SKILLS. We are terrible.

I will have to suspend myself for swearing, but what a f$&@ing disgrace this quarter was.

No accountability, can't hit target, and pathetic body launguage.

Horrible stuff.

And ffs, Watts is a viable target. When he is free, just kick it to him!!!

At least there are a few things that we will take out of this game:

1. Lucas will never play for Essendon again

2. Martin should play forward

3. Robbo is gone at season end

4. Grimes will play midfield

Posted
Jack Watts will not play FF for Melbourne. He should play a marking HFF, in a sort of James Hird Mould.

In modern footy a stock standard FF and CHF doesn't really need to exist, better to have a rotating midfield group imho

I have supported Melbourne for over 20 years, through the dark days and the slightly brighter ones, and I cannot remember ever feeling more ashamed and frustrated being a Demons supporter. These 3rd quarter fade outs are a joke, we will get the first two draft picks this year not because we are tanking but because we will not win another game this year with this kind of insipid football.

My one question: what the hell happened to our set-up and forward line in the third quarter?

My one whinge: what the hell has bitten Peter Schwab and David Parkin? I haven't listened to Melbourne on the ABC for a while, and am unlikely to again. They amount they p1ssed and moaned and droned on about how bad Melbourne were, are and will continue to be was farcical. Sure, we were shouse, but according to those two we haven't got enough good players, can't kick, can't tackle, can't play, don't try hard enough, blah, blah, all match, yawny, yawny... get stuffed.

The third quarter was very disappointing and undone the excitement of the first half. Stick fat guys. There is alot of inexperience out there and they havent played alot of football together. Unlike the bombers who have been together a little longer.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
