This is the reality of being a Melbourne die hard.

Credit card, prepare yourself!

Yep.

Is this a bit of a worry that they are coming back to debt demolition so soon? It was not long ago we had our last one.

Considering this, will it be possible to crack $1M? 10,000 people at an average of $100.... it is a lot.

Their aim was to wipe off all the debt. It's unfinished business.

I think it was always on the cards.

It also makes sense to have it now, rather than in a few years time - people can still rationalise that it's justifiable.

They won't be so receptive if we have our hand out in this manner in 5 years.

Well put Rogue.

When they implemented the Debt Demolition website last year it stated (and still does) "We will continue with our debt demolition campaign for as long as it takes to get rid of all of our debt." From that point of view it is no surprise that they are having a new launch for this year and the intentions of the club were clearly stipulated. I for one am quite happy with this as a supporter/member. At the end of the day only those who wish to donate will and if there is a significant chunk taken out of our debt each year such that the overall debt reduces greatly then I will continue to make donations online as a supporter/member. If we can be completely debt free or there abouts by the end of 2010 then that would be absolutely awesome for the club and it makes sense to push it as much as possible now as some others have said. The club is in a situation that it is trying to get out of for the long term so now is not the time to have reservations that (or be embarrased by the fact) the club is still asking for money - if you can spare a few dollars then great, if you can't then no worries.

Yes.

Here's a snippet from President Jim Stynes - Magazine December 2008: -

"We managed to reduce our debt by $3 million in August, which was kick started by "Foundation Heroes" night. It was amazing that evening. The generosity was great - we raised $2 million - but the spirit in the room was the highlight. Our message was loud & clear; that we were going to survive, we're not going to go away, we're not leaving Melbourne, and we're not going to merge."

From Cameron Schwab - Magazine December 2008: -

"In terms of the team itself, we will be committed to establishing a great side, which represents much more than simply assembling talent. We must find the resources to support Dean Bailey and Chris Connolly and our young team. We cannot be compromised by lack of funding and poor facilities."

The sooner the club, with the help of it's supporters & members, wipe off this debt. The sooner our club gets back on it's feet. The sooner our club thrives and becomes a power once again. We can't do this half baked. It must be done properly. For all those who want a flag and have been praying for the fortunes of a flag before they go the way of the do-do, it must be a united effort. Collectively we must stick together. So far we as members have held up our part of the bargain. Hence the record 31,294 members to date.

However, we need to keep supporting, keep turning up to the games and in this instance we need to dig deep again. How good would it be for the club not have the burden of debt? We can only wish for that day to come it seems. But it can be done. It will be done.

The new draft picks need to be nurtured in a stable environment in their development. Casey is a major plus. New sponsors a bonus. A financial and stable club, with a state of the art football department & facilities is now the objective.

Go Demons!

I'll be in again.

I think there's a key point here that the club is aiming to steadily eradicate the debt, not just keep covering it. The board has repeatedly stated that they are determined not to draw out any new debt.

If the 'ordinary operations' this year break even, but the debt demolition kicks in another million, then it's a very good year, considering all the circumstances.

Of course, if we miraculously get 2 million this august, then budda-bing budda-boom, we're debt free.

I'll tip in for that, for sure!

Think of the Debt Demolition as a positive way for we supporters to also be another "Group Sponsor"

To be come a Power Club, we must have Money at our disposal, as well as good people.

It is the reason Judd went to Cartltank-our books were shocking when he was sniffing.

Thats a beat up WYL.

Judd was never interested in Melbourne at all. He was always going to Carlton from the start.

Great stuff to those supporters who are digging deep again to assist the debt demolition.

Not from what i heard RR. Judd's father was my maths teacher at school back in the 70's, so i have spoken to him sporadically.

Chris was interested, Carltanks offer was unrefusable shall we say.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
