Had a chat about this at footy training last night and thought a similar thing about how the hell can Gardner only get a 2 week/1 week with an early plea who's contact was high, late, and out of the play. They obviously use how hurt the player is hit as a guide to how many weeks which is ridiculous.

Bit harsh on the north kid. I was at the North Saints game and saw it. King is a massive unit ruckman and the North player is a mid sized player who was completely unaware of the hit coming. The russian is a [censored] unit himself and the hit was nowhere near as hard.

I would have thought that King got a longer suspension because his was nowhere near the ball. Gardiner could at least have tried to say he was shepharding at the time. King's could be classified as 'intentional', whereas Gardiner's was probably 'reckless'.

But I too dislike the way that suspensions seem to get longer if the victim sustains an injury.

Happy to see king go. He "Accidently" booted our only ruckmen of the match White in the finals years back and took him out of the game.

Yeah... not trying to deride the North player, this aint soccer afterall, the point I was making was the same one you were. If Jamar had suffered a broken jaw the penalty would have been worse, but if anything his actions of shaking it off and following the play actually contributed to the leniency of the penalty imo. The system doesn't penalise this sort of act harshly enough. Kings action could have been construed as a shepherd as much as Gardiner's. Anyone that's played the game knows exactly what Gardiner's intention was - to attack the head of the opposition player, it was a gutless sniper act that could easily have broken Jamar's jaw and perhaps put his career in jeopardy considering he's probably still somewhat at the crossroads.

As much as I am disappointed for us I am happy for the game. Ryder should not have even been looked at, it was in play, not head high, not reckless. It was a fair bump that we should be promoting back into the game not out of it.

if thats the only change I would like to see LJ get a jumper. Might be a bit top heavy v bombers if martin starts back, if we are looking to add an extra forward then LJ has to be close to top of this list with miller.
