I'm wrapt Big Jamar is back. I rate him highly as a tap ruckman and gee have we missed him. If he could only take those hangers and kick goals like he does in the VFL he would be the best ruckman in the league. Im backing Big Jamar in.

I see it the same way.

It's harder to take big contested marks in the forward line, than run around & position yourself correctly. He's my next years 3rd ruck.

Yes, well unfortunately he can't. Nor can he get more than 10 disposals in one match. Nor does he impose himself on the contest. Nor does he seem to know what he's doing when he's out there.

He can & he has. But the problem is, he's not doing it often enough. Then he's compounded the supporters doubts by not finishing off his good work.

This IMO, is the main reason for his own & supporters doubts that hang over him..

Lets for a moment, think back. This is the first time that he has the opportunity to show something as the No1 ruck, without the shadow of White hanging over him like a dark cloud.

Last season he had quite a good stretch of playing well through the season, earning a lot of respect amongst opponents. The confidence that can flow & the belief that can grow out of this sort of form can change players for the better. He's still quite young in ruckmen terms.

I hope he can get some games in & show some of that ability, & position himself well around the ground to be a usefull contributor.

Sydney ruckman Darren Jolly will have West Coast's Dean Cox in his sights when their teams clash on Saturday at ANZ Stadium.

Tenth-placed Sydney head the Eagles on percentages. Both - along with six other clubs - have 12 points.

Jolly said he had not beaten Cox in their many match-ups and it was about time he changed that.

titan_uranus, I ask you if you may have had doubts previously about Jolly, or Hille @ Essendon?

You can't seriously suggest that Jamar is comparable to Jolly or Hille?

To answer the question, I've never really doubted Jolly or Hille as AFL ruckmen. I'm not sure exactly why you're asking, either.

Sam Blease (leg) - indefinite

James Frawley (hip) - 2 weeks

Colin Garland (foot) - indefinite

Brad Green (jaw) - test

Mark Jamar (foot) - available

John Meesen (foot) - indefinite

Jared Rivers (ankle) - 1 week

Paul Wheatley (quad) - 1-2 weeks

Austin Wonaeamirri (knee) - 6 weeks

James Strauss - 1 week suspension

I certainly don't like seeing the word "indefinite". Good to see Brad Green will be tested.

James Strauss - 1 week suspension

Well done to those concerned with Strauss' successful appeal against that suspension. Strauss has been picked on the extended bench for the Scorpion seniors. As an early draft pick, he needs to be playing in the ones.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
