I would cop one more bad year to get the two best boys in the country next year with two provisos:

First that we blood kids wherever possible and give them game time and,

Second that we play a good brand of football and have honourable defeats (a few goals not 100 point thrashings).

With two more top boys plus others in the draft to be added to those youngsters we already have, I feel that we would be ready to start our climb back up the ladder.

I'm in!

4 wins, 1 draw. 1 win 1 draw against Collingwood. 1 win against Richmond/Cousins.(to consign them to 9th) 1 big win against Carlton.(To keep them out of the 8) 1 epic come from behind win against Hawthorn. 11 losses by less than 25 points. 5 by less than 10. 1 by 42(just to keep a semblance of reality to this post)

Unfortunately the 100 point thrashings will occur during the year because these kids will tire out during the year there is only so much can be expected when boys play men, but I do think there will be an enormous improvement during the year, let's not expect to much of them straight away.

The main thing is that we start to play a good brand of football that will bring the crowd. I hate saying that I would accept losses but I am hoping this is the last year I will have to say it. The club must maximise every opportunity both on and off the field and I think most will agree we are not yet good enough. A couple of more young stars will only help the cause.

In 2010 we should have a talented list ( hopefully ) that is ready to climb the ladder.

I was happy we picked up Watts over NN.

It seems Warnock priced himself out of our market so unless we wanted to pay over the odds we couldn't have done much.

I would have liked a ruck or two though, even if rookied one.

I'm not too fussed about missing out on Prismall, while getting something for CJ would have been nice these things happen.

I was initially along the same lines as it happened, but now in hind sight could I suggest that this was a positive outcome? Has this incident brought a group that was bonding well a little tighter? Had have we traded him it may have sent a different message to all.

That's a pretty interesting thought - you could well be right.

I was only thinking in terms of draft picks - we might have got a slightly better final pick in the draft (hence it not being a big deal).

However, if you're right, the benefits certainly outweigh the slight upgrade in one of our late picks.

* Warnock was priced out by Carlton's money. From all reports Jake Spencer is impressing all with the way he's been training. No regrets from me.

* Prismall struggled to become a regular at Geelong, has had a knee reco and isn't the type of midfielder we need. No problem with him going elsewhere.

* CJ got a terrific deal from Carlton after a long period of insecurity and underperforming. Carlton offered an extremely late round draft pick which was of no use to us. We've made alternative choices in his absence more commensurate with where we are at as a club. Nuff said.

* Hislop - his reputation preceded him.

* Nik Nat - it was our choice.

I'm comfortable with where we are at - no high priced problem players and a good and varied lot of selections added to the mix.

Yes. Spot on!

Bailey's tuff stance and team building. I love it!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
