Sam Hughes I think was ripped off in the draft, he played for Vic Country in TAC cup there is a great bit of footage on you tube. he is a small midfielder and i thinkk he would go well at demon land.

guys, stop flattering ourselves. we need good players, end of story. if these players happen to be midfielders then so be it.

freak ffs we just picked up 5 running midfielders in the draft! we are crying out for talls! i have seen sam hughes play and he aint a player u want.

 That's what I thought...

Yeah, it looks like young Sam is in a bit of trouble if he thinks we're the ones he has to convince.

Watched some footage though - not terrible, not great. Vanilla for me.

Apologies if that's the case, but you have to admit you set yourself up for that one.

He might get a look in somewhere. But the Falcons seem to have been selling the names of a few of his teammates ahead of him.

He's got a small body and not a great kick. But he's got speed, terrific agility, great front and square and is very clean in that situation. Did some terrific things at Telstra Dome in the final championships round.

70 odd players will be called out on Tuesday. He'd have to be a chance.

i notice that Jordie mc kenzie from the falcons got invited to train he looked the goods to was pretty quick and seemed to be a clever player. Your right Hughes would prob be a chance only young and needs to bulk up to improve. the falcons seems to a good breeding ground seeing scarlett and jonathan brown started there.

To back up what I said about Hughes, the Falcons Regional Manager Michael Turner (who calls it how he sees it) said about Hughes in the Geelong Advertiser:

Sam also played a couple of games for Vic Country and he's had a good, solid two years with us. He's very, very quick and has got good stamina. It's a very difficult thing to get drafted and I don't think that Sam will. I'm just hoping that someone can pick him up as a rookie and, if not, there's no doubt that he will go and pursue his career in the VFL at either Geelong or Werribee.

Yeah McKenzie missed a fair bit of footy over the past couple of years with injuries so he's perhaps been underexposed. Clean and quick hands, can run all day and does all the defensive stuff very well - I'd imagine his kicking would have been closely monitored by the coaches over the past couple of weeks.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
