Is anyone else kind of pleased to hear this?

http://www.watoday.com.au/sport/naitanui-m...nbz.html?page=1

I was particularly interested in this part... referring to the recruitment of Jamie... gee they sound bitter.

"It is interesting that Melbourne did that, perhaps lacking a little bit of funds to relocate kids, but that is what they chose to do and we move on."

Yeah, this was great. Big time sour grapes. Makes me smile at that idiot Burgan calling them the winners of the draft.

Clearly Adelaide & Port won it based on players' reputations leading into the draft. We'll see in 5 years time.

This article was mentioned & linked to in another thread though, I think maybe the Strauss one?

I dont understand this quote. can someone explain it in more detail for me. Why would we pick up WA kids if we were lacking funds to relocate?

I find it interesting how anyone can have done 'better' than anyone a couple of days after the draft.

Surely it takes a couple of years to reach a sure verdict. Everything now is based on potential. I remeber a couple of years ago when Richmond had drafted 'better' because Hawthorn were stupid enough to overlook Tambling and took Roughead.

thats why west coast are annoyed. they obviously thought that we would not pick up a couple of western australians considering we are strapped for cash.

Bloody oath. They were going to take Bennell with the very next pick. Ha! They also thought that the Dees wouldn't probably because of the costs associated with relocation of not just Bennell, but also Jetta. Ha!

Good article.

I do too Mousey, I do too. I watched his highlights package a few times last night. Very impressive. He will play a few games for us next season, thats for sure.

JAMIE BENNELL makes confident start to AFL career.

Good article there. Good to see the boy is absolutely wrapt! Reading between the lines. I'm sure he and Jetta will fit right in. Wheels will have his hands full. I'm sure Davey will pitch in to help Wheels to mentor them and Wonna!

How much can it cost relocating a 17/18 year old? Its not like he has a house hold of furniture?? And he moves in with a host family? So what; airfare and meals in transit?? I did not get the feeling they were that annoyed, afterall it is a draft in priority order and they would expect to miss one or two of their targets.

I know... it's so insulting isn't it? "Ooooh... we're West Coast... We're entitled to take whatever West Coast players we want because we're better than you... were you not aware?"

And anyway, relocating a player from Western Australia costs the same as relocating one from country Victoria if you don't count the airfare. So according to this bunch of sulky teenage girls, the demons should only recruit players that are a commute from Casey.

From now on gentlemen, according to WC recruiters we are only to look at players from the S.E. suburbs and let the rich clubs take the players from the rest of Australia...

Hear of a good kid playing for Preston in the ammos? You might wanna call long distance to the other side of Australia cos THEY can afford to offer the kid a career... unlike the demons who are SOOOO far away.

Wankers.

Was actually 4/6 as Luke Rounds was our first choice for pick #51. Still, not a bad strike rate at all!

:o Shh! Don't tell the other teams that...besides 5/6 looks much better!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
