  1. Appreciate the list Melon. Out of interest, what would be an ideal result for the Dees based on what you've seen of the youngsters?
  2. Wrong tree.... it's a quote from the movie Airplane.
  3. Yeah, White was nothing like that sure thing Majak Daw.....
  4. Any hints doc? FWIW, a mate of mine (Essendon supporter) works for a software company who is the main supplier for Kaspersky. At a function last week, he mentioned to one of the assistant coaches at Melbourne (didn't say which one) that he'd appreciate them passing on Ball in the psd. Our coach responded that it was all but a done deal that he'd be in the red and blue next season.
  5. Apparently the progress Hawthorn made is making Campbell Brown available.
  6. I remember reading something a while back re scholorship players. It costs money to nominate them, something we don't have an abundance of. Pretty sure Teddy is our only scholorship player and we would have kept him on until now to see if we could reap any reward on our investment. To be honest, we only really hear about the success stories and they usually end up at the clubs that have several scholorship players (ie those with money).
  7. Dale digs holes. Daryl might be able to help you out though.
  8. Morabito or Rohan should be the pick based on what I've seen with a slight leaning to Rohan. Definately wouldn't be complaining with Trengove or Butcher either.
  9. Gold Coast get no picks in the National or Pre-season draft this year. Epic fail indeed.
  10. And yet he's kicked 800 goals in his career, one of only 11 AFL/VFL footballers to do so. Clearly not a star.
  11. Do yourself a favour and actually read it M2W, it's comedy of the highest order. Like Crazy Bomber, I'm waiting for Maric to mature in to the ruckman we need desperately him to be.
  12. Was actually 4/6 as Luke Rounds was our first choice for pick #51. Still, not a bad strike rate at all!
  13. Then you're out of luck mate. Geelong have first dibs on him and can either pick him up with their last pick in the national draft or nominate him as a rookie. I can't see why they wouldn't at least take him as a rookie, which means we have no chance to get him. As for my thoughts on the national draft (from what little I've seen), I'd be happy with: 1 - Watts, Rich or Naita (in that order) 17 & 19 - any two of Johnston, McKernan, Blease, Vickery, Robinson, Zaharakis, Yarran (preferably one pacy mid and one tall).
  14. He was the oldest player in the carnival at 19 and in the one round of matches I saw looked more developed than most. A real talent no doubt, but may not have the scope to improve as much as some of the other players that will be available at that stage. Was most impressed with Vickery in the WA game and hope that he lasts until our second rounder. Should be able to play next season as a tall, albeit skinny forward with scope to develop in to a very good ruckman. Blease is another one I'd like us to take a long look at for either of our second rounders (assuming we get a priority pick). He looked tiny out there, but was fearless, pacy and skilled.
  15. This game is actually at Subiaco, which can only be a good thing for us.
  16. Bode and Johnson will be the outside replacements for Morton and Davey, a role that Valenti can't play. I'm not happy to see him dropped either, but it's obviously a team balance issue.
  17. The biggest travesty to come out of that game was Tippett getting the rising star nod in front of Morton.
  18. I'm pretty sure I remember Bassett being moved in a 2 for 1 deal with Brent Williams being one of the players we received.
  19. Ben Reid anyone? I'd take him and #14 for 4 no problem at all.
  20. As Distance Demon points out we did very well out of the draft effected by the salary cap breach, but that group sure would look better with the name Pavlich included... Have to agree with the consensus that the results of the drafts since 2003 have been very impressive so far. Hopefully Cac has another ripper this season with what is likely to be a couple of very nice picks.
  21. Does anyone know the rules regarding this scholarship deal? A few questions I have about it are: - Are we only allowed one kid on a scholarship at a time? - If we are only allowed one scholarship recipient at a time, are we able to sever ties with them whenever we like (for instance, if we identify a player we deem to be a better prospect)? - The article mentions that clubs will have the first option to select them at the rookie draft. Is this like a father/son pick where we would use a pre-determined draft selection, or does it work another way?
  22. Neil Flynn (AKA the Janitor from Scrubs), although his intimidating style may put the fear of god in to a few of the boys.
