Draft Programme on Fox Sports 1

Give it 5 years minimum and it will be on prime time and the next footy event. Just check how it happens in the states.

They sell out MSG for the basketball draft.

Yeah, i've noticed that. But here i don't think it will take off as much.

While we still have the hype, our players develop at a different pace to theirs.

I could be imagining things but wasn't it on free-to-air a few years back? And on a weekday?

Maybe the AFL has reservations about turning it into a major event, the hype & business aspect of the NBA is hardly something to strive for. The expectations on draftees in the AFL are a lot different to the NBA also, the US feeder leagues are already big business & the top picks are expected to perform immediately. I agree that you'd think the interest would definetly be there though.

It definately was on FTA TV a few years ago live, but i seem to remember it on a sunday. Could be wrong though.

Yeah, i remember it like that too. They showed highlights of most of the top 20 from memory.

I'm surprised the AFL aren't right into it cos there are advertising dollar going to waste... but then again, it would be all included in the broadcasting rights contracts

Did anyone see it? Was it any good?

If good, any chance anyone has it on tape or dvd?

I would pay to have it sent up and returned if you want it back.

I had it recorded on the Foxtel IQ, but I've deleted it now unfortunately. It wasn't that great. Good if you were at work all day and couldn't get any SEN coverage or get on the net, but with 16 teams to cover in an hour there is only so much detail you can go into.

What was good was that they had Jack Watts in the studio for a 5-10 minute interview, and boy oh boy, this guy is amazing for a 17 year old, in terms of his attitude and his maturity. Every time I've heard him speak I'm more and more convinced that he'll make the big time, just with his temperament alone.

The show was Ok. Jack is a very good speaker for a fella his age. He handles himself with aplomb and as some people are suggesting, he oozes leadership material. And for a bottom age player! He didn't talk about much more than has already been reported in the media already.

Two interesting things were the fact that Jack got touched up in a game by a girl in the juniors and came off the ground crying. Touched up in a football sense that is.............The other interesting thing was Ricky Nixon talking about Cousins. I am not a fan of Nixon, but some of the things he mentioned about the Lions and St Kilda were pretty spot on. Why Brisbane needed to state they will not take Cousins a second time in the week after previously making a one and only statement had him pretty bemused. Seems many clubs talked to Nixon about the way it has been handled and that there should be a better way to do things. They are all sympathetic to Ben and want to see him play, but they wont take him. Funny that. He is a player manager though......

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
