haha when i kicked that goal i had no idea that rivvo had gone down!

And again best wishes for a speedy recovery Rivvo. We were fortunate to have a fair dinkum doctor in the team (pringle) who was virtually on the spot when Rivvo went down and was able to check on his condition immediately, recommend immediate icing and check on him at 3/4 time and then again at the end of the game. It was like an episode of RPA from my vantage point and reminiscent of the days back in the '60's and '70's when the Dees had Doc Roet and Peter Sinclair in the team.

Every time I pull on the boots for these days I remind myself why I gave up football a few years ago.

1. Physical contact is not my friend

and

2. My ability on a football field is questionable at best.

Still, yesterday's match was a heap of fun - very very competitive, and everyone put in and had a go.

We're very lucky at Demonland to have a couple of very good footballers in Josh (Wise), Adam (imtoohot (i think)) and Chris (Doggo) to name but a few.

Massive thanks must go to Rollo for organising the game, Redleg and Whispering Jack for coaching, and Brian (Melbournefc) for organising the team.

And finally, to the gentleman who provided us with a styrofoam esky FULL of cold water - you are a hero.

I should add one thing. It was very difficult doing the rotations and the timekeeping in that hectic last quarter* especially with the short ground and the way everyone pushed into our forward line. We needed more crumbers and we had too many talls so I have to confess we just about gave up on making changes and might have kept one or two players off in the last quarter who needed interchanging. Sorry 'bout that!

I don't know how they do it in the coaches boxes at AFL level. It must be so hectic.

Also I agree that Luke the umpire was fantastic in the way he umpired and made his decisions clearly known to the players. He umpires a high level of the VAFA but would not be out of place doing an AFL or VFL game.

* reminded me of the days when I was a team manager for an under 19 team in the ammos. Team managers had to be interchange stewards, time keepers, orange boys, umpires escorts, trainers and pyschologists all at the same time.

"a styrofoam esky FULL of cold water"

I think that came from dee knees (from demonology)...

just got an update from rivvo...

rivvo's knee is not in particularly good shape...

he can't bend the leg and walking is a little difficult...

he is hoping it will feel better when the swelling goes down, but he will wait to see what the doctor says on wednesday...

I will pass on more news when it comes to hand...

Doggo, I quite literally can put no weight on my left foot. Work could be interesting... haha

Forget what i was saying about 'feeling not too bad' yesterday. I'm absolutely [censored] today. Spent a good 4 hours down at Harold Holt pool today in the spa and hydro pool trying to loosen up a bit. Had to bail on my basketball game tonight too.

I'm feeling your pain mate...

"Was there much wind out there today?"

hey, oxxx...

you were missed today...

I told people you were having major surgery...

(I hope that was true)...

Comparing the results from yesterday to the last time that I was there, I must be worth about 96 points to the team!:lol:

Nah I couldn't make it yesterday, I was way too busy with other stuff. That one was the first one that I've missed, is there anybody who has played in all of them?

Third quarter

I may have got the wrong quarter, but Doggo provided a real highlight with a great speccie. He judged the mark so well, and hung in the air for so long. It was a genuine screamer.

You're too kind Rollo. It was alright, but no 'genuine speccie'. Pity i couldn't slot the goal (from 20m out, slight angle...)

One of my 4 or 5 behinds for the day haha...

Great match report Rollo.

Praise to all, this was one fine display of football. True Melbourne grit and determination.

Was great to finally put some faces to all those names - there's more of the same on facebook. Photo's and video (team singing Grand Old Flag and mickrocks going for gold along the wing). Enjoy. Just look for 'Demonology @ Demonland'.

"is there anybody who has played in all of them?"

no, mate...

the last time you played, we worked out that you were the only bloke who had (up to that stage) played in all of them...

and I reckon I am the only person in the world who has watched them all...

I'm keen to debut next game, send me email old man.

Congratulations boys a fantastic effort. I apologise for not being able to play. I injured my knee in Tasmania just before i left and have been on crutches since. Also i only just moved back to Melbourne I couldnt find a computer to get the details for the match. As I now have one I would love to play in the next one. Please keep me informed

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
