many names an such are thrown around regarding sponsorship. When looking at his you need to understand teh function of it as its seen by the sponsor. In simple terms its awareness and getting a name known. These can be slightly different things depending on the sponsor. I.e TAC was all about wipe off 5. etc..awareness. LG's was Brand ecognition...getting seen.

Sponsors in Sports are invariable companies trying to forge an identity with a goodly sized budget for a number of years to do this.its the price you pay to get into the "game"..that game being whatever field your in ( as sponsor )

Many companies and organisations proffered simply wont fit this type of scenario. Many companies who work in teh area of consumer spending may decide one of two routes. To spend more to get into peoples faces and teh economy tightens..or to back off and round the wagons until the spening frees up again. Again, its invariably companies in the money markets that have money to spend. People need money even more when things are tight and the battle to get that next customer hots up.

New areas of endeavour are businesses in the areas of Power generation, especially the so called "greener" guys . You have companies that are specialising in making other companies greener etc. an example is within our own club Szental. This is going to become a very larger sector of business, definintely worth pitching to..this style of business that is, not just Szental Group..but this ilk.

Putting a badge on a clubs jumper has to return a dividend for the payer, its not about benelovence.

I'm thinking someone like GHD ..

Or we can go with GHD- the company that makes really expensive hair straighteners... god knows we have enough pretty boys at the club who can start a whole new men's marketing campaign for the company

I can totally see Jonesy being their spokesperson ;)

Big Payday Looms for AFL Clubs

Why are we not interested?

Are they interested?

For the record, the so called family club is doing some greater things with their poker machines and now promoting betfair. Lucky they have Jeff Kennett's connections at Beyond blue to pick up the pieces that gambling leaves.

I have always thought this quite ironic and greatly hypocritical of Kennett. A case of do as I say not as I do !!

A company to look at as sponser is CUMMINS DIESEL.

It is an american multinational, the largest supplier of diesel engines in the world .

This company has its south pacific HQ in Melbourne.

It used to be a minor corporate sponser in the 90s.

The company has just opened several joint ventures in China, so a connection there.

The company world wide prides itself on going green, with ever more strict emission controls and community programs.

Its profit worldwide has never been higher.

Its heavy into the heavy mining industry out west [Joe territory] and power generation Australia wide.

How about Coles?

I shop there a lot, and can probably get discounts from there as a reward for being a member. C'mon guys, as if we really have a clue

I may need a hair straighener next season 'Jaded', if we are like this year's hair curling efforts. :D

How about Australia Post, they just keep delivering.

We may be able to learn something from them.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
