Based on my view and rumours abroad. Trades in bold compliment each other.

Aaron DAVEY and Brad GREEN to Port for PICK 4.

or

Aaron DAVEY and PICK 19 to Port for PICK 4.

Paul WHEATLEY to Sydney for PICK 30.

PICK 30 and Daniel BELL for Adam THOMSON and Greg BENTLEY.

Jared RIVERS to Hawthorn for Mitch THORP.

or

Brad GREEN to Hawthorn for MItch THORP.

That is 4 or 5 players traded out by us and is the maximum allowed (5).

So how did we end up?

DRAFT PICKS 1, 4, 17, 19 (possibly keep), 35, 51, 68 FIRST 2 Selections - Watts and Vickery

Players IN - Adam Thomson, Greg Bentley and Mitch Thorp.

Players OUT - Aaron Davey, Brad Green, Paul Wheatley, Jared Rivers

If it panned out that way I would be stoked! Is realistic I think!

Thats probably the only way we could get Watts and Vickery as i think they will both be gone at pick 5

Naitanui and Rich at picks 2 and 3 are what i predict will both end up in WA

They only other option is giving picks 17 and 19 to Port for pick 4 but i really doubt that will happen in a draft that has so much talent depth

I personally would pick Vickery before Naitanui as the best big man in the draft (other than Watts)

IMO Picks 17 and 19 in this draft will still give us a very good player

We gain PICK 4. Get 3 younger players with great potential who will get game time with us. And save on the salary cap aswell.

I believe we improve our list and picks in the draft! Win Win! We are rebuilding!

I like it!

I'd be stoked with either of those, people on here overrate Davey massively. And before you all start dribbling about marketability let me tell you I couldn't give a flying rat's rectum. Bindi freakin Irwin is marketable but I don't want her in the forward pocket, I just want a premiership before I die.

I don't know how you can say he is overrated - he is one of the only blokes in red and blue over the last DECADE that actually has the ability to turn a match

Obviously he's gone off the boil a bit though

However, I agree with your point about marketability - I'll tell you what is marketable, winning games of footy - same goes for all you Naitanui spruikers

Partially answered your own question Schtacker. How many games has he "turned" in the last 2 years. Great value for a rookie but not even top 50 in the Afl. Decent small forward, less than average midfielder.

Port wont give up pick 4 for a couple of 26 to 28 yo NQRs.

Gary Ablett snr, could turn a match, Aaron is not one of Gary's screw in stops.

oh yeah let's compare him to one of the all time greatest players cos that's what I said

I have seen him turn and win us matches so that makes him a match-turner

still, we know for a fact the ability is there... it has gone dormant for a bit. We know he has been plagued by injury the last 2 years... maybe he is one of those players that needs to be part of a properly functioning side to be at his best - I believe we will shortly become this side and then we will see the old Davey again. I also believe that this is true of a number of our players who appear to have stalled or gone backwards - watch how different they look in a good side

pretty hard to turn matches in a side that is being belted by 10 goals every week

Jury is out on this one. I don't believe we will shortly become this side - a proper functioning side - for another couple of years. AN improved side perhaps - but not one that will catapult us into the eight, short term.

I suppose it all depends what you refer to as a "properly functioning side" though. You may have to elaborate.

Still, I look forward to the young "quality" talent that are about to commence with the Dees, whoever they be.

Rivers for Thorp, and you want pick as well?

Thorp is an exciting KP prospect. Rivers can't get on the park. They lose big time.

Also, I think there's a limit to the amount of picks u get in one season...

can someone tell me why CJ is on the table?

was he not one of the shining lights for the year??

would it not be a waste to put five years into him - use a father son pick on him - and send him to a club for not much for him to become a real solid player over the next 3-4 years!!!

am i the only one that would be extremely unhappy if he were to be traded.....

Nah mate, im with you. Why would we give away a player whos starting to look the goods. Remember people, when he was drafted there were big wraps on him. He was tipped to go top 10.

Doesn't father/son pick mean we got him CHEAPER than we would have otherwise??

A good player yes, but at this stage our club should have few, if any, untouchables. AND from all reports OTHER clubs are asking about him, not 'he wants to go' or 'the club are trying to get rid of him'.

you need guys who can hit a target and accumulate the footy....

CJ's market value is a pick between 40-50. Unless the trade involves a player that addresses our needs, I'd keep him.

Don't see the point in stockpiling draft picks unless they are top 20.

No way wiill they trade Davey or Rivers and no way should they, Davey's our most exciting player and Rivers our best defender and one of the best in the comp when up and going. Green and Wheatley though there's possible value there.

Agree with most of that.

Unless it was to offload a Carroll or the draft picks were a smaller part of a bigger deal.

Yze has not used the footy well and hit targets for 3 years. CJ does not win enough of the ball and hurt oppositions.

I cant see what you are frothing about.

Little chance of that.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
