Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just wondering as there is so much talk about Watts and Rich, does anyone want this guy?

Absolute FREAK of an athlete!

Yeah sure he will take time to be damaging but when he does could be ANYTHING!

If i remember rightly, Buddy was a ruckman prospect at the start but due to his freak athleticism and potential they turned him into what he is today and that took around 3 years?

Cale Morton is very good friends with him.

Surely our midfield needs includes the need of a ruckman.

IF Warnock who is not a certainty to be a satisfactory ruckman decides to stay with freo, we really need to look at NikNat.

Watts should just nominate next year after his schooling, the chances of us getting him next year would be nearly the same as this year

NikNat would bring some much needed excitement back into the club

Im in the NickNat club. The kid could seriously be anything. Even if we get Warnock I'd still take him, as he can play essentially the role of ruck rover and be the best clearance player in the league.

Can play anywhere on the ground and has the body to play next year, while Watts will still be skinny.

I'd go with Naitanui, if we don't get Warnock he can ruck, if we do he can play a key position.

EXACTLY!

I also think he is a face that can finally be a FACE of the club! His presence will bring more supporters as members on and more people to come watch the games.

I think its a no brainer and i hope jimmy and connolls think the same :)

I hope to god Jimmy is not involved in recruiting, unless it is to use his contacts to source out a few Irish lads.

I was at the Swan Districts game on Saturday. Nic played his best league game to date playing up forward and in the middle and was the key reason behind Swans stopping Peel's 6 goal run at the start of the 4th and helping Swans win and qualify for the finals. Granted living in Perth I've seen nothing of Watts but could do much worse then pick Nic up.

Look- we are going to take the best available player at number 1. the club won't stuff it up. We have picks 17 and 19, as well as 1 in the PSD>>> we have bargaining power there, and we will HOPEFULLY trade a player like jones to get another top 20 draft pick.

No way should the Ds take him. He kills the little kiddies at underage level but has no football brain, isn't a prolific ball getter even at the level he plays. Will fade in and out of games at whatever level he plays. Waste of an early draft pick and whoever gets him gets loaded with a second tier tryer.

Will take ages to develop any football nous and will become the Islander version of Setanta O'hAlpin.

The Ds should be getting smart footballers that have a footballing brain to take advantage of Bailey's coaching.

Bailey stated when he came to the club he is a teaching coach. Teach this bloke to play and we might have the next Buddy. Might be a risk but I'm really starting to warm to the idea.

They'll be another Watts type in next year's draft, but it is almost guaranteed there won't be another Natanui!

No not really, possibly will be great but maybe not. I don't believe we're are in a strong enough position to take a speculative pick like this.

Stronger more advanced lists can risk it.

There is no way we will be trading Jones. He is 20 and fits right in the age frame DB has been putting in place since his arrival.

We don't have the option to stuff this draft up with the picks the new clubs will be getting in the future this pick must get us a superstar, or its a fail for the club

Without a doubt.

The kid won't end up being "just a ruckmen". From the footage I've seen I'd play him Ruck Rover and just let him do his thing.

A good mate of mine is the runner for Claremont in the WAFL (played for them until he injured his neck).

He says that Nat is the one to go for over Rich...he said dont worry about his football ability the boy can play...

Not Luke Toia is he?

Lol he will be the most exciting player in the competition. We have to take him.

That package i must admit did not excite me too much about him. Sure he is athletic, but early in the package just seem to wondering, and not being able to read where the ball is going to be. Its still Watts for me

I went off Nat at the Dome game but I am not so sure now.

He can clearly do what Watts is supposed to be good at, taking a mark in the forward line. He is big, strong, quick and has an amazing leap. He can also play in the ruck and backline. He is aggressive in his tackling and if played in the forward line will help keep the ball there with forward defensive pressure. He is not a one trick pony.

He will be ready to play next year.

He would be a marketing dream for the club as well.

Could he be the next Buddy? Maybe. All he has to do is mark the ball coming down and kick truly. Easy isn't it? Not impossible though.

If we take Nat, Watts will wait until next year to nominate and we still might get him.

I am truly confused.

wow !! Thank you so much for those highlights.

WOW...just wow!!! he made me excited just watching three little things! He could EASILY be moulded into a forward target!!! The guy just has everything that amazes people about buddy but has a more higher leap!! Kicking CAN be worked on. This type of player comes around once in a blue moon, we must take him!!

I still lean slightly toward Watts, but Naitanui's starting to do the things required to make up ground (screaming marks for one). He picked up 20 touches and a goal in this game and his play affected the outcome of the result playing both back and forward (Spandermann was first ruck for this game). Still handballed more than he kicked (7 kicks 13 handballs) and only had 2 marks for the day (good ones though), but he is showing steady improvement.

Don't necessarily need to kick truly to be the next Buddy.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
