Good summary, well done.

Martin impressed me again, and I do feel for the backline. Very hard to defend when you have no midfield.

Also thought Jamar had one of his better games around the ground. Took some strong marks, got involved in stoppages and kick a goal.

Overall though, only Miller showed any sort of leadership out there. It's sad that without McLean and Green we only have one on-field leader left.

I though Bell wasn't too bad, and I'm not usually a fan.

Newton continually drives me up the wall with his inability to even recognise the footy for 95% of the game.

Miller clearly went missing in the 2nd & 3rd quaters.

Yep he did, sort of although he did work very hard to try to get to the ball but........

Given we didn't have the ball to actually send anywhere near his direction at all for that time, having any substantive influence really does become problematic.

He wasn't great, but again he lacked many chances in the forward line. My biggest concern is his inability to hold crucial marks.

He's useless. A waste of space.

Blood some more youngsters and show Juice the door.

Sylvia continues along his merry path to embrace his destiny as the greatest junk time player of all time.

I think I can sum up this team performance with just one player analysis:

Brett Peake - a class above

When BP looks good, you played #&%#&*& @#&

Buckley - exciting but reckless

This guy is about as explosive as Chris Judd, but your right he was wreckless.

If he can learn to dispose well on the run, then we will have a fine player who will be very capable of breaking games open.

My big positive of the game.

The 3 things that lose football matches

Scenraio 1

When we have the football - POOR DISPOSAL and DECISION MAKING and NOT MOVING IT QUICKLY

Scenario 2

When the opposition has the football

LACK of pressure on the ball carriier and having NO INSIGHT on his next objective

Scenario 3

When the Ball is in dispute

Lack of COMITTMENT and NO TALKING and POOR TACKLING

We had our share of ALL 3 after the first quarter

Freo had all 3 in the First Quarter

Terrible Display in a Terrible Jumper

Back to the Training Track ..............Again

Time to DROP some players

Matthew Bate's disposal effective % was 52 from his 23 touches today, the worst in our side by 4% from Paul Wheatley.

He butchered the ball and gave away cheap frees when the heat was on, and in junk time he finally got a bit of cheap footy to boost his

overall numbers (hello Newton, Sylvia and Jones, you're in the same boat in terms of junk time stats)...

Sylvia continues along his merry path to embrace his destiny as the greatest junk time player of all time.

if memory serves me Colin Silvia's under 18 coach rated him the "most competitive beast" he had ever seen. i bet he now wishes nobody remembered that comment.

When will Paul Wheatley finally give up his futile attempts at bombing the ball to absolutely nobody?

Honestly, it makes him look like a dumb, lazy footballer, which he is not.

When did he bomb it to absolutely nobody.

He was probably kicking to space.

He was probably kicking to space, you nuffy.

For one, his attempt at goal was shite. Kicked it out on the full, and for a minute there I thought I was watching Newton.

When he panics under pressure he bombs it. It's great that he's getting his hands on the ball, but the ineffectiveness of his disposal is unacceptable for a player of his experience. He cost us goals today, and he cost us goals last week. Not good enough.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
