Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It was an unbelievable clash of jumpers yesterday. I don't know what it was like on television, but at the game it was terribly confusing.

It's hard to imagine a worse choice of alternative gear. I'm dead sure some of our errant passes were due to players mistaking the outfits. Our normal guensey would have contrasted so much more, and looked so much better.

What's our record in the siver strip? Pretty abominable, I'd say.

There we go! Get rid of this silver s--t and make this the alternative strip.

Agree, exactly what we need RED and BLUE and a simple variation on our "real" jumper.

And wearing it, the boys wouldn't look embarrassed as they did yesterday.

What we need on there is some racing stripes.

Extra bands of deep red following the same line as the red yoke, with the reverse angle curved across the back.

Compeltely different to any other club in shapes and colours, but still retains the same structure and impression as the original.

Also, very slimming... DAHLINKS.

I think the jumper matched the way we played.

the afl are dead set morons forcing teams to wear clash strips. it is not to do with clash stirps, it is to do with advertising and merchandising.

if the afl came out and said this i dont think there would be too many problems. but the whole clash thing is a joke. on tv it was terrible to watch, especially once players went into the sun and it got blurry.

our traditional red and blue, with us wearing blue shorts and red socks would not get confused with the saints at all today. add silver on the jumper or white in the shorts and it could get messy.

there was never a need for clash strips in the past, have things changed in the past 10 years except? yes they have. interstate sides have added fancy new colours and designs that look great in an office but blur from a distance. the simplicity of strips, yolks or hoops have been lost with fancy new designs. the recent addition of extra strips, white or black borders between colours and around numbers and extra sponsors logos make the jumpers harder to tell apart at distance.

the simple answer? make the jumpers use 2 or 3 colours only. no little details like borders. and broad geometries only.

I think clash jumpers are definitely neccessary. There are a couple of times a year (mainly Adelaide) where it is hard to decipher between teams (I know I am not the only one who has this problem) and I dont see the problem in wearing a clash jumper in these matches...

BUT

1) In no way, shape or form should that silver tripe ever be seen again. It is absolutely disgusting. A reversing of ther colours or something a bit closer to the traditional jumper should do the trick. AND

2) I watched the game at midnight last night on my TV in my room (Yes thats right, that is when it was broadcast up here in QLD) and I could honestly not tell the difference between them. Admittedly I have only a smallish telly in my room but coming in and out of the light and shade I found it impossible to watch and switched off and went back to bed (nothing to do with scoreline ;) If you are going to design a clash jumper surely the idea would be to waer it to AVOID a clash.

Is it the AFL's decision as to which games we have to wear a clash jumper or is it a club decision?

We have worn the clash jumper against Brisbane and St Kilda yet we wear our traditional guernsey against Adelaide. I can't figure out the logic behind that.

I'm not against clash jumpers, I think they serve a purpose but our use of it this season has been ridiculous.

I'd also like to keep some tradition alive if we have to wear a different guernsey, i'll get shot down for saying this but i'd prefer we wear the royal blue jumper as an alternative because it's Melbourne. We have better current form in the royal blue than the navy blue anyway.

I certainly think he would and I would too.

If we did have a big win, how shallow would it be to celebrate it in a jumper that means nothing to nobody.

Agreed. Its sentimental, but an MFC victory is somehow diminished in non-traditional colours.

Does anyone know what the AFL's position is on the Grand Final? Are teams forced to wear alternative colours in the event of a clash. Its unlikely but I would hate to see the Dees play in one with that abomination.

All i'm saying is the canary yellow used in 99 cricket world cup was derided by all and then they won 7 games in a row.

And nary a peep...

I dont think its a good analogy.

Given the ever changing costuming in World Cup cricket, I think bad outfits are as much a part of it as the legside wide.

From a football perspective, Carlton's light blue abomination, St Kilda's "poached egg on the road" design and MFC's whatever it is looks as awful at the start of the match when scores are even as at the end when the game is decided.

Its the worst design of any alternate guernseys MFC have had and created a clash with the Saints.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
