  2. It was to be clear, we have not found a CHF or FF on a consistent basis. JVR is young and we will persist but he needs to take the simple marks (dropping most marks at the moment). Petty is not the answer. Schache is not the answer. Tmcd is not the answer. Turner was good v Tigers but likely is makeshift (he’s really a prototype Lever interceptor). Jefferson is young and not developing as we would like. Brown is on last very last legs. We are competing against teams with quality key forwards Curnow-McKay, Daniher, Cameron-Hawkins, Hogan, Mihocek.
  3. The start of the firsy quarter he was playing as a roaming CHF which I don't think is his strength. Few times earlier in that quarter he got onto a few long leads towards the wing and unfortunately we tried to honour him but butchered the kick instead. After that he looked gas for the rest of the game.
  4. 100% we're never going to be as big as the filth, the baggers, or the peptides but i think everyone is well aware of that the puddy tatts have the distinct advantage of being mega-rich due to their stadium deal and their spread of western victoria support but we can absolutely compete with the likes of hawthorn IF we win multiple premierships during a 40 year stretch like they did from the 1970s to the 2010s - 11 premierships from 1976 to 2015 is just an extraordinary fillip to grow a supporter base friend of a friend from wa goes for them and i asked why he never switched to meth coke in the 1980s / 1990s and his response was unequivocal - he started going for hawthorn in the late 70s / early 80s cos they were always winning, always being covered by the media, and kept winning success begats success
  5. Luke Hodge is (unfortunately) here to stay. Why? Because Channel 7 clearly believe that being a former player automatically makes you a great commentator. End of qualification criteria.
  6. Agree DC I have watched it a number of times that handball had a touch of brilliance, no luck involved, he handled that ball like a 100 game star.
  7. Yes, that gastro bout was a shocker. Very embarrassing at the TV week awards. Oh, hold on, misread your post.
  8. Injury permitting, he'll come good before it gets to this IMO.
  9. ah, dbj ... now there's a perfect scapegoat, can always be relied on to stuff something up every game
  10. "lucky" handball? it was the most impressive handball of the game and very deliberate ... watch the replay
  11. I can't remember. Back in the day get woke, go broke was rhyming slang not a silly culture war slogan.
  12. Since the night Chicago died, or from when you were just hitching a ride?
  13. If we also beat GWS we will be flag favourites
  14. and more importantly when you are relaxed and totally unaware his action was the very such sneaky action the afl should want to eliminate should've been 1 week
  15. It was a cheap shot that deserves a week or two.
  16. I tell you what, Demonland will be in raptures if we win the next 2
  17. i think the silly comparison is that of an everyday work place. whats the difference between that "love tap" and Viney then wrestling with Pickett after? should he be suspended? or because its retaliation its ok? Like i said in other posts, i believe it should be a fine first and repeat offences go up! So if he was to do it again he would incur a suspension. I also agree staging should be penalised, although if he hit Clarry in the right spot it could of hurt, so it becomes hard to determine.
  18. I would have thought that the Dees would be vying with the Hawks for the #5 spot in Melbourne (in terms of supporter base size)?
  19. Demonland logic: Pre cats game: We are an average side, going nowhere. Beaten no one and a team that would have beaten us by 100 points if they didn't put the cue in the rack just got smashed by the giants. Reality check time. Post cats game. We are an average side, going nowhere. Yes we we won by 4 goals, but the scoreboard flattered us. And we've still beaten no one. Sure the cats were unbeaten, but coming into the game their wins were against teams 9th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th on the ladder. And they also had two less days recovery. Reality check time next week against the blues, who will smash us. Their mids will destroy us, and yes we have a good defence but we can't expect them to rescue us every week. And fair warning, I don't want to hear the predicable excuses trotted out by the pollyannas about the impact of the five day break.

  21. That is a silly comparison. OK, you are saying a workplace which allows some sorts of physical contact as part of the employment (playing the game according to its rules) should do little to discourage physical contact which has nothing to do with the game. Bus a fine (of the size the AFL employs) means nothing to these players. I'd agree, a fine would be OK if the fine was say 10% of the players annual contract and there were measures taken to prevent others paying the fine for them. But since the latter is impossible in practice, a suspension is the only way to send the message to players to stop giving the AFL a bad image and influencing kids to think gratuitous violence is OK. (if anyone thinks it is a good image, then take up supporting boxing.) Current precedents create a problem, but the AFL has to grasp the nettle and make it a rule that a 'love tap' means 1 week off or more depending on severity (and penalties for blatant staging). And if you do it too severely and too often, then yes, you are sacked from the AFL.
  22. Especially when you already have sore ribs before the jab.
  23. Couple of things..... Why are goal umpires no longer getting behind the flight of the ball as it comes in? They are trying to make calls while standing in the middle of the goal area. No way can they see if the ball is touched or over the point line from where they are cemented into the ground. Or have the AFL issued an instruction to get more goal reviews, so that they can ensure the crypto ads are seen by all? It wasn't just the frees paid it was the frees not paid to St.Kilda which were telling. Front on contact in marking contests, holding the ball. The over the boundary line mark which resulted in another Port goal at a critical point in the match. It was just disgraceful. Can CH7 just get rid of Luke Hodge as a commentator? St.Kilda player slammed into the ground, and Hodge reckons he staged to get the free. The inane post goal descriptions of what we can see with our own eyes each and every time. Surely only bettered by the medical expert BT diagnosing a meniscus injury to Rowan Marshall, which is "better" than a PCL......spare me!
  24. Are you a former member of Paper Lace.
