  1. Past hour
  2. Mensch is just more US cultural Imperialism stolen from Israel. How about Clarry is a good bloke. Or a bonza fellah.
  3. C'mon now Ollie AFL is [censored] serious sport - it's life and death, it's existential, it's the answer to the question in The Hitchhikers Guide . Don't you recall the footage of Jack Watts daring to laugh, watching his team get slaughtered... I lost faith in humanity that day, and wrote a letter to the whomever the president was at the time as I was incredulous that employee of the MFC could behave in such a way, exposing the anemic culture of the club - and rightfully should be traded because he wasn't in full view doing his best version of this...
  4. That could well present a moral dilemma for young woey.
  5. If you throw 100 darts at a board, eventually you'll hit the target. That applies to St Kilda eventually beating a team higher than them on the ladder.
  6. @titan_uranus @binman Gents, good context below.... AFL AVERAGE DISPOSAL EFFICIENCY IS 73.1% 67.3% for kicks 81.8% for handballs
  7. I get the natural reaction to Brisbane's loss is the SWYL style "what an embarrassment". Every year we get to a point where we get the "circle of parity", whereby you can say "A beat B, but B beat C, but C beat D" and get all the way back to where you started. Last year Collingwood lost to Hawthorn a month before finals, Brisbane (2nd) lost to Hawthorn and also lost to Gold Coast (another bottom 4 side) a month before finals. Yes, we lost to Brisbane, badly, but they love playing us, they would have steeled themselves for the game, and despite their poor start to the year the talent on their list is obvious. And that's before we get to the fixture lead-in to the game, whatever that was/wasn't worth. It's frustrating, but not embarrassing.
  8. Oskar Smartt from Bendigo and Tobyn Murray from Geelong were good in the young guns game. Like to see more and would fit in as youngsters with more upside. Murray especially had skills and balance to make an AFL midfielder.
  9. As others have mentioned, the next two games will be the ideal measurement for where this club is at. I believe we have reason to be concerned. The game pies v dons looked like a different league. But if there's one thing that has changed about our club in the last few years is their never say die attitude. Maybe we will come roaring back. And if by chance we win the next two, I think we will definitely be top four and a certain flag favorite again.
  10. Apparently the coach and the team laughed at the mistakes at half time. After half time we were much better. Why criticise the coaching technique?
  11. I agree with most of this. It's precisely why I don't need to see us out in front of the competition in CP/clearance-related stats. I do, though, think the balance is out a bit and we're conceding too much territory. I'll defer to the stats, although I prefer @old55's use of turnovers as opposed to DE. I think TMac's role with ball in hand this year has been modest but as we continue to cover for Salem and Bowey's absences he's going to be part of transition more and if that's the case, I'd be quietly confident his DE stat will drop and his turnover rate will rise.
  12. Compare that swill Wednesday night to the Pies/Bombers game yesterday. Chalk and cheese, even disregarding the scoreboard. I suspect we will get smashed in the next two weeks.
  13. Open hand. Closed hand. Who cares - the AFL needs to get real and start suspending players for those pathetic acts. It is beyond unsporting. Is that really how the AFL want the game to be seen? And I completely concur - clarry is super fair and multiple times this year has displayed care and concern for opposition players.
  14. Thanks for the link. Obviously Clayton likes doing public speaking as much as I do. Having said that, I thought he did really well and the interviewers looked after him. All good. Footy wise I like it how it appears that our backs excepted, we are very much work in progress. So long as we notch up enough wins to end up in the top four by season end, job done. Makes it more difficult for other sides to work out what our game plan will be and to prepare to counter it. Come finals is when I hope that we are injury free and firing on all cylinders. 🤞
  15. Full-A-rton As in Full-AAAAAHHHHH-IM-SO-TRIGGERED-WHEN-I-SEEE-IT-WRONG-rton (sorry, I do hate grammar police, but it's important we get names right)
  16. Heard them on the ABC radio post-game analysis.
  17. Against the Tigers, we won clearances 32-25, stoppage clearances 24-15 and contested possessions 136-119. In what way were we "smashed"?
  18. IN McAdam, Fullertom Out Laurie and Petty
  19. Today
  20. I loved Disco’s game but don’t know a lot about him. Where do you think his best position is on the field, and how does he keep his spot given the competition for places? I assume bagging 3 goals is one way to do it!
  21. Great analysis DZ. As for Tmac, I think he's been a revelation down back again and stays. He butchered it a few times v the tigers but almost who didn't. Petty to Casey.
  22. Watching Petty live the other night, he is horribly out of form and confidence. He was missing kick after kick during the warm up. he was completely out of sorts. I presume he is there hoping he will find form until others are ready to step in. To me some ready made replacements are there, in form and ready to go. Surely Fullerton comes in for the role he was traded for. Back up ruck and fwd. natural replacement for Petty who must go back to find form. The fact Petty went into Ruck the other night was just about hm getting hands on the ball. The other is McAdam. Disco's performance created a selection headache but you cant drop him now. Surely McAdam comes in for Laurie. all of a sudden we have a much better look and players in form.
  23. Did you find these stats on the afl app? Interested to look at them
  24. Didn't do any preseason due to his foot injury. Came into the AFL team off just a couple of half VFL games (where he also struggled) and people are surprised that he is struggling to get involved. Running is a very important part of playing AFL football and Petty hasn't been able to do any due to a long term foot injury. If you can't run then you can't play.
  25. I think the club was looking at it at the end of last year before he got injured again, or they didn’t have the guts to pull the trigger on it in a final.
  26. Upon reflection. Given how flat footed and error ridden we were again by foot. Is it too audacious to hint at the fact Selwyn may have put abit of extra loading into the group to utilise the extra bye we get this year? Knowing full well we have enough talent to beat the tigers at 75-80% rat power? It’s arrogant to plan a few weeks in ahead, but maybe the club is putting more weight into the upcoming games against the Cats (who we have an extra 3 days break on) and then the blues (5 day break). These upcoming games are Top 4 shaping games. (8pt games dare I say it.)
