No such thing as 'only a scratch match' !   This is the only MFC action this week as we arent playing March series.

Important first hit out of the season for two of your young stars in Brayshaw and Fristch.

Pickett on show again.  Another chance for Mitch brown to impress ahead of Round 1.

Jordon, Rivers, Sparrow., Bradtke....  so much potential there.

Can Bedford step up and show what hes capable of?

I'm still surprised that Luke Jackson isn't playing. I get that they want to manage the loads of the younger players and perhaps they have him earmarked for early senior games so they don't want him to burn out. If that isn't the case then I'm baffled that he isn't playing in this game where he can get a taste of the ruck or play as a key forward or even some midfield minutes. I hope it's not this weeks mystery injury of the week.

It also could mean that they are still unsure of when Gawn will be back, so safe guarding our depleted ruck stocks.

Yes there is.  It's at Arden Street today.

these 6 day breaks are killing us...  ?

Gus is back! great news!  only May and Gawn on our best 22 injury list!

The fact that we have to add 8 VFL players versus only 1 by North suggests to me we are going into this game under manned.

My gut feel suggests like last week we will be in for a poor result scores wise.

That's what I'm also getting with a bit of audio from the game in the background.

Same, may change soon though.

On my count we have 4-5 best 22 players and they have 13-14 so it will be a bit of a flogging me thinks

this is a bit disappointing. At least i can see others have the same issue and its not my PC, or inability to log in using my memebership.

Working Now!

Which doesn't matter one bit.  Why would it?

It's all about fitness and getting some run into the legs.  Nothing more.

Exactly I hate losing as much as the next guy but this scratch match is about getting run in the legs, game time into kids and hopefully no injuries.

Goal to Spargo.

Was it Bedford with the nice pass?  Obviously this isn't top line stuff so they didn't zoom in when it went into our forward line.  It was good movement though.

As Burgess has previously stated, it's about getting the miles into the legs for the entire list, ready for round 1.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
