  1. I'm hoping they play 3 talls as people worry about and we play the 2 McDonald brothers as tall only. Also, i would be playing weitering (however it's spelt) in the backline on Hogan as it would be a great learning experience for him (last week forward line on Rance was also a great learning experience). If that happened then it would probably only be 2 talls to worry about. I'm all for us only playing 2 talls at either end for the rest of the season so that we can run teams off their feet (Hogan, Weid & both McDonald's).
  2. I like that his hit is 'Intentional', yet Varcoe's hit is 'careless' (grading below intentional)... Just don't understand how that is possible.
  3. Also it's not Membrey he hit, its that Nathan Wright who after the hit i heard on the raido during the match while watching was off the ground being assessed for concussion (and stayed off for an entire quarter after the hit). I bet that's what killed Bernie's chances of getting off, because Wright actually had symptoms of concussion (hence its not the action, rather the outcome that they suspend on).
  4. Agree that it's stupid, and agree that he needs to be taught a lesson (and what better a week than when we have carlton???). But Geez the MRP has no idea, if they were consistent i wouldn't have a problem, but if consistency was tattooed on their foreheads they still wouldn't have any idea.
  5. Disagree. Don't think the ball will be down there much for us to worry. We played 8 defenders against St Kilda and if we do the same here it won't matter. Carlton's forward line isn't very good at the moment.
  6. Garlett, Kent, Hannan, Petracca, Watts & Hogan is now my favorite forward line (i want the forward pressure & i think hannan's skills clearly put him above VDB). Last year Kent was always the guy running from one lose defender to the next (when they had the ball and were switching) and his speed between players helped defensively pressure the kicks like essendon's tipinwoodi (however its spelt). I don't know if he should come in this week, but i see Kent in the team by the week after if not.
  7. Is he like a Will-Hosken Elliott form GWS to Collingwood as a player?
  8. I'm sure i read somewhere that we can't upgrade a rookie for Lum' because he's not injured or some stupid AFL decision.
  9. We will have no forward pressure with Hogan, Watts, Spencer and one of weid/pedersen in the team. I Really hope the coach goes either Spencer OR Weid/Ped. If he doesn't i fear the game is already lost. that set up reminds me of the day we played collingwood and they played 3 ruckmen against us (the second i saw that it was a garunteed win and guess what? Every kick into their forward line that wasn't marked we ran out like a training drill. If i had a choice against the saints I'd play Hogan and Watts as the talls and play 4 smalls to create that forward pressure (Ideally if fit: Garlett, Kent, Petracca & VDB).
  10. I purchased tickets last week with no issues online via Ticketmaster (clicked the link that was part of the Melbourne fc email that came out a week Ish ago)! Hopefully you get them as que's will be crap like normal!
  11. I just want to see aggressive forward pressure from watts when he doesn't have the ball :)! That would make me and I bet goody happy!
  12. This-morning on SEN they were talking about him and i think that Gary said he was very impressed with the work he was doing (even though he wasn't getting a lot of the ball).
  13. Hoping we catch the saints in membership numbers eventually (they are sitting at 34,066 today). Noticed they have a new flexi-membership and it's a great idea to me. They state: "Our latest membership is all about being flexible. Come to all 11 games or just come to one game but bring 10 of your mates too. Use your 11 General Admission tickets however you like, it’s your choice! " http://www.saintsmembership.com.au/ Smart marketing, especially if at the end of the season you have missed 3 games and its the last match, you could bring 3 mates with you and feel like you got 100% value out of it. Go Dees P.s. North melbourne sitting at 32,485 today too.
  14. Interesting that SEN is promoting North Melbourne membership today and they state that: " Buy a 3 Game Membership and we will upgrade you to a free 11 Game membership for 2017. That’s a saving of $100 and the offer is valid for today only. Quote SEN to claim. 1300 KANGAS (1300 526 427) " https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/02/14/its-north-melbourne-membership-day-today-on-1116-sen/ I wonder if all clubs will be doing this or if it's just the Roos..
  15. Quick search of AFL linked club websites reveal: Brisbane - 13539 Carlton - 32759 Essendon - 45187 Geelong - 40111 Gold Coast - 7294 GWS - 9729 Hawthorn - 60023 Melbourne - 28984 North Melbourne - 26895 Port Adelaide - 48875 Richmond - 52130 Saints - 29084 Sydney -30577 West Coast - 54476 Also in regards to what comes with the membership, the Western Bulldogs are clearly ahead. They give a choice of ticking what you want; either a hat, a scarf or a beanie (or nothing for me please donate it back to the club).https://membership.westernbulldogs.com.au/member-choice-0
  16. 9th at worst, 5th at best (barring injuries to key players) :). Although seeing kevin sheedy's article on the AFL website saying he pretty much expects Essendon to make finals makes me realistic to the possibility of us not making it (i don't think it will be them, but it will be really even and do we have the maturity to win those close games)? Very much excited for next year.
  17. Saty in the training thread said it was Asthma (from that storm a few weeks back). Appears over it today according to Saty
  18. When i watched games live, it seemed to be kents role to sprint from ball carrier to ball carrier when our forwards were outnumbered (and the opposition was trying to clear the ball out of defence). His speed and pressure was better all season than anyone else in my opinion. So i would think that he is easily safe and someone else (Garlett for example - although i like him even though he drifts). I like the inclusion of Tim smith in our starting line-up (not sure it will happen but i like it for the Weid - maybe both can rotate throughout the year in the one posiiton). I think we all agree weid won't be ready this year yet. Exciting times, Go Dees!
  19. Do we reciprocate too and try to advertise and sell NB gear in our Demon store or online? If we don't maybe we can start to and ask them to do what you say (great idea by the way)! All about exposure
  20. Just heard that Tanya Hird and Jams hird are not together anymore. Tanya Hird attended a function for ex AFL players WAGS (women who used to date AFL players but no longer do - Sounds like a secret society ;)). Not surprised at all really that (if true) she is leaving him. [redacted] If someone else has mentioned this sorry for re-reporting it. Go Dees!
  21. I've always found Melksham at Essendon as underwhelming, so i'd be suprised if he turned into a gun for us. Hes averaged 16.5 disposals per game at Essendon (http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-melbourne-demons--jake-melksham) which i might accept for a first/second year player with potential. We will see how he goes next year (i really have no idea if he will play a game or if he won't miss a game etc.). As long as whoever is in performs great.
  22. He played as a forward primarily for the swans didn't he? I'd happily recruit him as a delisted free agent - would be cheap and who knows:)
  23. Ladder of Thu/Fri night games reported on AFL website. Dees again dominating the bottom (anyone have the saturday night ladder)? http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-10-27/2017-fixture-reaction-every-club
  24. I'm annoyed though as they are mostly our home games at the MCG (i'd prefer more of our away games being broadcast). I'm happy with the draw (night games is a tick). A bit of sarcasm: And yes nice to see essendon's punishment continue (e.g. pick 1..).. 2 friday & 7 sat night games. I guess the AFL wants to help clear their debt up quick and support their excellent performance last year (to be fair maybe they predict essendon playing a lot better and possibly making the 8, if they don't i'd be expecting them to get 0 night games next year - as if). #GODEES
  25. Random positive on top of this: Hawthorns game-plans, tactics and strategies from Jordan's perspective. This knowledge will also be very valuable (even though it will change it just reinforces how good a pick up it will be).
