  1. 2 years, two pick ones for sweet FA lol. Well played.
  2. I have faith in Petty being able to cover lever as the intercept/ second tall - think a lot on here are underrating him :). But yes sad to see him go, hope we have fewer injuries next year.
  3. It's funny, we want to give up next years second, but that pick might help us get King next year if we want him. By giving it up we hurt our chances (maybe we are no chance anyway).
  4. Someone suggested Noah Bolta for the Blues on the radio. He did do well against us lol.
  5. I think the obvious move is to go for freo's 2 first rounders for our pick 3. Say 3 for 7 and 18 - suits our needs best, but they would want something in return. Or go 3 for 7 and langdon (probably we win that one) or 3 for 12, langdon and a later 3rd round pick).
  6. My issue is everyone is saying saints need to clear space to get king. If we grab him we have no room for king (salary cap wise). So if we want king it's a no, if they want a second round pick (one to Freo and one to saints to me is a no as well as the draft is so even this year especially). But the club will do whatever it wants.
  7. I'd personally take it with the aim of going for ben king next year and having multiple 1st round picks available.
  8. I want to give him a good 10 matches to start the seasonon the wing and see how it pans out. With Langdon on the other we hopefully start to get more 2-way running happening which was a major flaw in our game this year. Who knows, maybe will spark something :). Go dees!
  9. I love frost and thought his 2018 season he barely missed a kick in the finals (disposal was awesome). But Frosts weaknesses and reason we are letting him go are due to his ability or inability to read the play. Every now and then he doesn't read the play and loses his man (ball watching) or goes and leaves his man but doesn't impact the contest. He also is a poor uncontested mark in games. The amount of times he comes 3rd in or another defender blocks for him to mark and he drops the easiest of marks was poor compared to other defender on our list (even omac). But frost can run and take a screamer across the pack in the next effort (hence frustrating). I think the coaching group wants stability and consistency from the backline. I don't see smith going down back. May is the direct replacement and upgrade on Frost for speed. lever and petty for height and intercept marking and Omac as back-up if someone get's injured.
  10. I'd give pick 3 for papely and get pick 9 back and grab a stephens or someone. Also those 2 video highlights of flanders and was it ash were horrible haha. I was laughing at them and their poor disposal (thinking how well they would fit in here). But as people say they are just highlights. In the end, i hope we trade pick 3 out and get 2 picks for it in top 20. I like the look of stephens for sure (greedy, fast and evasive - exactly what we don't have).
  11. I love listening to Terry Wallace. I agree that Tom's last 2 games were like his 2018 form and Wallace didn't mention that. But the rest was spot on to me. Something else i want to get off my chest: I didn't want May for pick 6 when we could get him a year later for free (although he wanted out last year and collingwood likely would've gotten him, so wouldn't have happened - i would've loved Moore or ALir Alir due to their age demographic - now it sounds like Moore could be gettable next year if we played our cards right & if collingwood got May then they would be soo tight on the salary cap..). I said that Melbourne should be courting tom lynch if hogan was going to leave. AKA Hogan out and Lynch plus pick 6 in. Yet no talk of chasing Lynch ever came. Can't help but feel that that was a mistake. AkA get aggressive melbourne and if your going to swap out players for picks make sure we have as good coming back in for cheaper. Interesting that they reckon around 10 wins next year. Now that we have May and Lever, i really hope to see them up and firing next year.
  12. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/10/01/hawthorn-very-keen-to-nab-noah-anderson-in-deal-with-suns/ Now that's interesting if they want pick 2 for him.. very interesting. I can't see gold coast doing it.
  13. Random side point. Adam Treloar chose Collingwood over Richmond as they were “closer” to a flag hahaha.
  14. They also had very smart players, who were footballers, not athletes. SO their reaction times, positioning, etc. was all quicker than the opposition. That's a problem with frost, his decision making means he is slow on the field to react, but give him a guy to chase over a longer distance and he wins. I like his point of difference, but i hate when he is lose or drops an easy mark.
  15. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/09/24/gold-coast-made-one-of-the-greatest-mistakes-of-the-year-lyon/ I love this article. Delisted a clear best 22 player because they played him out of position and fitness testing showed he sucked at repeated sprints (prob the same guys who go this guy can jump a building or sprint faster than bolt, but hasn't played AFL = must recruit). "The Suns made a number of poor choices last off-season, including one of the worst pick-swap trades of all-time": A trading of future first-round picks, again with Brisbane, has backfired enormously, with them essentially exchanging pick 17 for pick 19 in 2018, as well as picks 19 and 42 this year. trading pick two for Lachie Weller back in 2017. Add in I Rankine (pick 3) hasn't played a game from the year before's draft. But They will likely receive pick two as a compensation pick in this year’s draft, despite these constant mistakes. #norules #whateversuitstheAFL #wehaveaformula Laughable, but i do understand the rationale, it just doesn't pass the [censored] meter. Come out and say, they have made some mistakes and the AFL needs them to get better quickly or they will cease to exist. As a result we are giving them overkill compensation to make them competitive. E.g.picks 2, 10, 21,22 and 23 if they want. Why not give them a mini draft option like GWS had and they never had? A lot of talent incoming in a small period of time at least would put them in a strong position for draft picks year on year like GWS seem to have - they lose a star and get great picks in return etc.. I hope they keep both picks for the top 2 as expected and get crouch in for later picks.
  16. Just a refresh: 2012 priority pick reform https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priority_draft_pick#Priority_round_history Despite the best efforts of the AFL, the priority draft pick became controversial in the late 2000s and early 2010s because of the potential for corruption, as it could be automatically awarded based on the performance of the club over the past two seasons with a defined cut-off point (16.5 premiership points or four wins). In the 2012 pre-season, the AFL, with the unanimous support of the 18 clubs, removed the provision for priority picks automatically based upon finishing results, and with the AFL commission retaining the power to award priority picks on a discretionary basis.[1] To allow for this situation, a formula has been developed that takes into account such factors as: premiership points that a club has received over a period of years (with greater weight to recent seasons), a club's percentage (points for/points against x 100) over a period of years (another indication of on-field competitiveness, with greater weight to recent seasons), any finals appearances that a club has made in recent seasons, any premierships that a club has won in recent seasons, and a club's injury rates in each relevant season. To eliminate the perception of tanking, the formula for priority picks is kept confidential by the AFL Commission. 2012 we won 4 matches (2 against GWS who had just come in) 2013 we won 2 matches (1 against GWS and 1 vs WB by 3 points) 2014 we won 4 matches (expansion teams beat us lol). End result = 10 wins from 66 matches, 3 against GWS which probably doesn't count. But we did have Hogan in the VFL and Clarke was injured at the time (and never came back/injured/traded). I'm bitter that they get the pick, as i want equality. If they then trade it for say Brad Crouch i'll be even more annoyed (give them pick 10/11 instead - which they can give to Adelaide in that case - not hurting the bottom teams who missed the 8). This could be a very quick turnaround for them considering all the injuries they have #GCPremiers2020????
  17. Interesting to read peoples thoughts. I remember as a junior i thought he barracked for the Dees (when i was working at the Eastern Ranges FC and he was there - but a long time ago so may be remembering incorrectly). So maybe if hes coming back that may play a hand. If we get him for dirt cheap why not, but i'm not fussed.
  18. Don't know who or where it was (maybe WB vs GWS match) - the commentators said Bont had had 50+ shots at goal this year for that many goals. At least he's having that many shots, but gee it's a momentum killer (maybe i read it lol).
  19. By the end i could only laugh at the number of handballs when a player was in a little bit of space (congested but had time to think) that went either directly to a brisbane player or to ground where no player was. Brayshaw in particular did it a number of times. So i have to agree that we are playing dumb football or we have dumb footballers who misread ques and instead of looking classy (say a pendelburry) they give the ball up in comical scenes each week.
  20. Carlton are doing surprisingly well considering Hawthorn. Weather also likely influences these results.
  21. The skill part is my worry. I keep seeing crap kicks and his kicking efficiency inside 50 is low (so would fit in well with the rest of our team haha). I really like his run, but i really dislike his kicking.
  22. Also don't forget that Hawthorn wasn't allowed to trade it's first pick on these rules. Yet they went to the AFL to get omera and mitchell in and the AFL ticked it off. So really any club can get around it. I think i sort of want us to get the best talent at the draft who can kick (otherwise would have to recruit only players who can kick from other teams).
  23. Lever is knee soreness rather than the reported foot soreness. Hopefully not more than a week or 2 to settle down.
  24. They wouldn't give him up cheap even if he wanted to leave. Too many clubs would want him (not saying i wouldn't like him though).
  25. So far 3 goals have come from bailey fritsch- he cannot be played as a defender as they are opening him up
