  1. My issue with this is putting his hands up afterward - which is a clear sign to the umpires that he did something wrong.. Keep your hands down and pretend you did nothing wrong!
  2. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-06/future-trading-given-goahead-but-with-restrictions Not sure if this has been since updated but it says: Clubs can trade one year in the future only. - Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks. - If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds. So by this article i would think trading a third round pick won't affect their ability to trade their first round pick too. Plus we know hawthorn got omera even though they had already traded too may first round picks. So if the AFL will bend the rules for the Hawks then this is still a viable option.
  3. And May has been painted as a bit of a negative influence for thier young team, so although hes worth pick 5, they wouldn't want him to be there for just one more year (due to that negative influence on him). I think MFC is fair so will do it for pick 5 and maybe KK gets included in it as the sweetener.
  4. So pick 5 and 11 for hogan (if neale gets traded and hogan wants to go). Would we be happy with that? we paid 3 and 12, so similar to what we paid. I think gold coast would want pick 5, but i reckon dees keep 5 and say 11 and our next pick and get a 3rd round back
  5. Don't forget that Hogan is a restricted free agent next year (surely hes in top 25% of earners at club). So if freo and the media think we will get him for nothing next year they are wrong.
  6. Or think Kelly next year as a restricted free agent, if GWS match us having the dockers and our own first round pick available next year pretty much makes it a done deal to us
  7. id guess at May and Kolodjashnij for Hogan is being floated. I'd still want more, but thats just me. KPF are harder to find than other players. Although on the opposite if freo wait one year and hogan leaves for restricted free agency we'd get crap all (so hoping we play hard ball.
  8. Watched the wash-up on the AFL website and M Lloyd said: O Mac isn't a number 1 defender If may comes he thinks May, Lever and Frost is a better combo than May, O-Mac and Lever (which i like the idea of more). To me Frost is just so exciting/a point of difference with his speed (sure he can drop a simple mark or two, but this second half of the season hes been hitting targets by hand and foot, whilst still dropping some easy marks lol).. O-mac is solid, good at out-bodying smaller opponents 1v1 and when we control the midfield looks like a general down back. Just need Hogan to let us know what his thoughts are.
  9. I don't mind the talk, i don't think he will be going anywhere and if someone wanted him, then it would be two top 10 draft picks (or like brayshaws brother and Freo's first round draft pick as an example). One thing that was discussed on the radio i think was that melbourne was playing 5 forwards a lot of the time when hogan was in and his pressure wasn't the best. When weid came in we started trying to play more traditional 6-6-6, hence 1v1's all over the place. So our game style has changed and this has also contributed to the Weid's success (may not be everything). Hogan being a more physical player would no doubt love this sort of game plan (1v1). In fact i think jeff Garlett would too. Both, to me, were hurt by the Lever inclusion and our desire to play him as a lose defender. Given that we have the best ruck and midfield combo in my mind, we should be playing 1v1 all over the ground for the rest of the finals to take advantage of our midfield dominance (and lack of perceived outside classy run - like smith for hawthorn this week).
  10. On a cheeky side-note, Gaff would fit in at Melbourne after the punch if we go back to last year and Hogan and Lewis' little taps (perfect fit? :P). I still want him, even if he gets 12 weeks. I think it has to be over 6 weeks though as other posters alluded to.
  11. I actually thought Frost played well and i know he can be a bit meh at times, but i actually like the look of our backline a lot more now that hes in (i.e. since Lever went down i haven't liked it). I'd happily play him the rest of the year.
  12. Apparently we have a candidate this year we get first crack at. Toby Bedford, a small forward. This is what was said after his game recently (https://www.afldraftcentral.com.au/tag/toby-bedford/? #3 Toby Bedford (Dandenong Stingrays) Starting the game inside 50 as a small forward, Bedford showed some fancy footwork on occasions but struggled to get into the game in the first half. Although late in the third quarter he was moved up the ground to the stoppages and created a real spark. He won a couple of hard balls in traffic and released each to advantage, before his defensive efforts were rewarded with a holding the ball free kick. He broke from a centre bounce in the final term and almost set up a goal with a long kick inside 50. AFL link to where it links him to us: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-06-27/u18-the-fatherson-candidates-linked-to-your-club
  13. In retrospect, it's really Brayshaw who has taken Dom Tyson's spot this year (not Viney) and it seems to be for the better. I like Dom, but i like our current set-up more.
  14. I’m a Victorian member and also received that email. There must be a reason for the selected emailing (I’ve taken up similar offers before and I’m a concession member - whether either of those contributed not sure). Go dees!
  15. 29,053 currently. https://membership.melbournefc.com.au/
  16. Burton sounds like an absolute [censored].. I hope he walks to the draft and they get nothing.
  17. Hawks getting Lachie Whitfield according to shane crawford (didn't know where to post it) https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/08/24/is-a-giant-midfielder-on-his-way-to-the-hawks/
  18. I'm not sure, if he averages 20 disposals a match id say 400k for 2 years is acceptable from Adelaide (but as there is interest 500k to keep him more like it). E.g. Daniher is only on 750k. But if hes as good as we think, then i'd offer our first round pick (8-14) and above what Adelaide offers (500-700k). But there are other things at play: Gibbs to Adelaide - yes/no McGovern to WestCoast yes/no What he actually wants to do (we have no idea - atm his manager is being smart and saying await finalisation of CBA). Any of these will influence their salary cap and ability to keep him. Happy with whatever outcome occurs.
  19. And hes still available. Manager said: Currently way off signing. Issues surrounding total player payments (as in incremental rises in salary commensurate with those stated in the CBA) Adelaide is not willing to offer that up Contract talks haven't even started as a result. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/06/01/in-demand-crows-contract-talks-have-stalled/
  20. At the time and with what he has done disposal wise this year it is for one of the best inside mids in the game (e.g. this season if you go by disposals - 354 to date and next highest is 327). Compare Mitchell to the price of Prestia and it's a steal haha. I'd happily take him for pick 14 every day of the week knowing how the draft can toss up duds as much as good players. But if an inside mid isn't what you need then obviously that changes what you are willing to pay. On Jones, if they give pick 14 for mitchell im not paying below pick 20 for Jones (it's [censored] if they ask for our first round pick, when they accept 14 for Mitchell).
  21. Door for Lever is closing by the second according to SEN corespondent Tom Rehn: However, another sought-after Adelaide player, Jake Lever, won’t be going anywhere according to Rehn. “Jake Lever is almost over the line,” Rehn said. “He will stay, no question. He loves it in Adelaide and is very settled. “For mine, he is the next captain of the footy club. He is so humble, a very good leader and an intelligent guy. He is just a superb guy on and off the field.” https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/05/29/west-coast-coming-in-a-big-way-for-crows-youngster/
  22. Noticed may is listed as 193 & 102kg. I'd love a 198cm KD sometime. As for me i want him but only for one pic and no player. if that can't get it done walk away and hope we develop and gel by the end of the year. http://www.goldcoastfc.com.au/player-profile/steven-may
  23. Just heard that Tanya Hird and Jams hird are not together anymore. Tanya Hird attended a function for ex AFL players WAGS (women who used to date AFL players but no longer do - Sounds like a secret society ;)). Not surprised at all really that (if true) she is leaving him. [redacted] If someone else has mentioned this sorry for re-reporting it. Go Dees!
  24. I have a sinking feeling we will cave and swap a 3rd rounder for their 4th rounder as part of the deal :(. But hopefully 2nd rounder alone is enough.
  25. I personally don't believe it is, in fact i think its one of the least specific tests to AFL at the combine. When do AFL players continuously run without stopping? AFL is considered a High intensity, intermittent team sport (so high intensity tackle/sprint and then ball up/out of bounds where players jog/walk/stand stationary for a small period of time then repeat.. The beep test is a continuous endurance test (its using an orange to assess an apple). I'd much prefer to see his repeated sprint results (did he fatigue over consecutive sprints, or did he maintain his [average] speed throughout indicating that he doesn't fatigue but is slow [if hes slow and fatigues over sprints then he really is stuffed]?). A more specific test would be the YoYo Intermittent recovery test (same up and back, but then there is a recovery walk interspersed between every up and back). The problem is we have years of beep test data to compare too, if we go to another test like the YoYo which is more specific to the intermittent nature of the game then we (coaches/sport scientists/fans would have no data to compare against. No idea what we will do on draft day
