  1. Can’t kick goals if you’re not putting yourself in the right places.
  2. I do value offensive contributions. I never mentioned him getting dropped. Was never talking about Spargo. The reason we didn’t win by 80 was because our set shots on goal were poor at best for the first half.
  3. I saw that, was impressed with that passage of play. But he does go missing in games, the throw away line of “pressure acts” or “not understanding his/someone’s role” gets used a lot here and is currently worn out. I’m not suggesting he gets dropped but like a few of our players at the moment, they’re just travelling. No reason for concern, it’s a long season and they’ll all fire when required.
  4. It seems improbable the either party would want a long-term deal. Luke because he would want to keep his options open and the Club due to salary cap pressures. It’s a delicate balance. After another 2 years there may be further room for movement, maybe not. It’s would be terrible to lose Luke as it would be to lose any of our stars when their contracts expire. The thought of Oliver or Petracca in opposition jumpers would be real heart sink stuff. However, the Hawks lost Buddy and were able to maintain their list and reap further premiership rewards. How the Club manages all these complexities will be crucial to longer term success and the health of our playing group. If you look at the contracts thread I think it’s a safe bet that the club is looking further ahead than just the next two years. Other factors worth considering are - Players that have already had their “payday contracts”. - Players such as TMac, Gawn and I think Lever who have recently extended their contracts and you would assume have extended for less after already cleaning up. - Players such as Hibberd and Melksham who are most likely in their last season. - Young players such as Rivers, Kozi, Petty and Bowey who are all premiership players and bloody good players in their own right but will have to bide their time for their paydays.
  5. I think they were broken before that, last season before they beat the Bulldogs in rd 23 they hadn’t beaten a top 8 side. I’m of the belief that both coaches have lost their players. I don’t want to sound arrogant but the only team that stands between us going back to back is the Swans.
  6. If Port and GWS are serious their coaches should be sacked by tomorrow evening. Hinkley is in his tenth season as coach and Cameron in his ninth. Their teams respective efforts over the weekend when taking into consideration their exit from last years season as well as their opponents speaks volumes.
  7. And that is why the Saints are where they are, ordinary list management.
  8. Was listening to a replay of 3AW Sportday whilst driving home from work tonight. (I’ve been up since 2am for work so I want to re listen to the podcast, I’m bloody tired)Leigh Mathew’s was talking about the Bulldogs and went on to say things like “They fell into the 8” which isn’t quite true they finished 5th but they dropped a lot of easy games late in the season. Yes all teams dropped winnable games but it was the timing of their losing streak. “Whilst they are very strong in some positions the have some gaping holes in their list”. I assume the holes he refers too is their defenders and their forwards. He also went on to question Tim English’s ability to dominate the ruck. He said “whilst he can take a mark around the ground he has doubts about his ruck craft” and “Stef Martin is a battler that provides a contest”.
  9. I don’t, and would be disappointed if that was the case.
  10. I was looking at the list contacts thread and I think we’re doing both. After this year with the likely departures of Melksham and Hibberd we should be pretty well sorted.
  11. Please excuse my thread as I somehow missed this one. I’m more than happy to join. Looks as though we’ve got low numbers, I’ve got a couple of mates who can make up the numbers.
  12. I’ve started a league with a couple of friends, still a lot of spaces to fill. The league is called “Beers with Goody”, the league number is 407401. This is a social league being played purely for bragging rights. Anyone keen to play, feel free to join. My team name is DEES 140 DOGS 66 Cheers Bombay Air
  13. I’m interested in playing this year and have 2 mates that are good to go.
  14. Mark McGowan at it again. Interesting times ahead.
  15. Hands up who continued to tip the tigers in their footy tipping comp despite them continuing to drop games they’d normally win, based on the same old names….
  16. Two Redlegs memberships arrived in the mail on Friday. Eighteen consecutive years for me and my fiancé having her first ever membership. Guest passes are all but over….
  17. Rd 9 v Carlton, TMac kicked 3, Weid and Brown both goalless, it didn’t work and Brown was dropped (unfairly imo but was it because of fitness??). Weid went on to play a few games before making way for Brown, the rest is history….
  18. I think social media played a massive part in peoples lives during the lockdowns, just need to be on there for the right reasons.
  19. Has it been stated his leave is related to mental illness? In other news Dusty’s father has passed away.
  20. Dogs play us, Swans and Giants twice.
  21. Defenders - May, Lever, Petty, Rivers Fwds - Fritsch, Brown Kozi Then throw in Luke Jackson and Langdon and Sparrow. No doubt the midfield brigade would of learnt a bit but for me one of the biggest influences in our was Choco.
  22. All clubs had their fair share of easy losses, Dogs just had theirs at the wrong time of the season.
