  1. I wouldn't consider Flash a reject.
  2. I thought part of the Roos philosophy was putting the onus on the players. We already know he may be with us for as little as two possibly three years. He is putting the building blocks in place then it's up to the players to enforce the culture and pass it onto new recruits at the club. Doesn't matter who's coaching, if the players aren't unified it's game over before it starts.
  3. Was this the game that cost Grant Thomas his career?
  4. Thats what I am hoping will happen. The "no records were kept" line is a blatant lie. Their other defence was along the lines of " our medical team gave it the ok". If Dr Reid was cleared how can this be the case? ASADA said it's not banned but WADA says otherwise, a professional organisation would check it out? If so confident every thing was above board why the self reporting?
  5. And we can afford to match any offers, the point is we need to be able to offer a chance at success as well.
  6. During Roo's first press conference he spoke if putting the building blocks in place.Last year we had Jack Viney, a first year player addressing his teammates after a game saying "this is not bloody good enough". Freo offered Harry Taylor a truck load of cash, he stayed at Geelong for less(rumoured, I have no sources ). Because of past success and the chance of future success. If Hogan becomes what we all hope he will become our marquee player and every club can afford at least one. We need to offer more than that other wise if it's not Hogan it's Chip or Salem in a few years.
  7. Rethinking that, we can match anything financially. As we know if Roos wasn't coach, Watts would have walked. I think we are all out of excuses as a club. Trengove is no longer captain, the bad eggs are gone, new coaching panel with proven success ect ect. We know Roos won't be around for ever, time for the players to stand up. Our best 22 uninjured on paper should be able to match it with at least 12 teams. As we know some players chase money, some success. Hopefully we can offer Hogan both.
  8. We should be in a position to match anything they offer.
  9. The bigger concern is that wether you are a runner/trainer/physio/doctor you must wear high via clothing. Home team yellow, away team orange and the umps can wear pink. Problem solved.
  10. Just thinking the same thing, if anyone's due for a breakout year....
  11. I don't think we're on the same page. Discussion was centred around who has the most members. From a fans point of view it's for bragging rights, from a clubs it's financial. 11(meaning your clubs 11 home games) 17(meaning all Victorian games) 22(meaning all games) in my opinion should be the only memberships counted when acquiring a total. No one is suggesting that people that can't attend or have disability or are black or white aren't welcome, but if clubs are counting 3 game memberships or pet memberships it gives a misleading figure. For what's it worth I moved to Sydney four years ago but keep buying my membership with the knowledge I will only get to the G about 4-5 times a year.
  12. Thanks guys for all the reports, much appreciated.
  13. What ever we do let's no expect too much from full time footballers. Let's continue to make excuses for them. No to multiple game plans/styles, am I expected to believe that in junior level each year brought not only a new coach but a new tactics. In addition to that most played rep footy. No to long direct kicking into a potentially very dangerous forward line. Don't encourage them to do what comes naturally. Let's kick it around the boundary....again.
  14. Whatever the gameplan is Port showed last year what I have thought all along. It doesn't take 2-3 years to learn a gameplan. There are no more excuses for our side.
  15. Contested footy...obviously, accountable footy, elite kicking into the forward line. Let's try using the corridor.
  16. Hogan - have heard the hype, but living in Sydney makes it hard to attend VFL games. Having a fit Clark and Dawes should make his transition even smoother. Clark - was on track for the Coleman with his first season with us until injury struck him down. He is a machine. If our three talls can remain uninjured we may lay claim to one of the most dangerous forward lines. A functioning midfield - they are out of excuses. Poor coaches, burden of captaincy.....
  17. I retract my last statement, having drinks with a mate today who is a mad Richmond member. Apparently Tigers play Saints, Lions, GWS, GC twice. Time will tell.
  18. Very happy member, got my membership yesterday and have reached 10 consecutive years in the Redlegs. Lost track of how many specky's have been pulled down at the Punt Rd end.
  19. Havn't looked at the full draw yet, but if the top six, Middle six and bottom six play each other twice,I would be backing Richmond to drop out of the eight. Yes they have an uncanny knack beating the hawks but struggle against the top sides. Add to that kangas, Carlton and a rejuvenated WC and tigers are out.
  20. Is this the same Cameron that dominated a forward line in a young side? Patton will be moved on.
  21. Exactly, for example next year trade Patton for a first round pick and spread the ages of all their players.
  22. Freeman appeared to be taller in the group photo. The AFL website stats read Salem 183cm 81kg, Freeman182cm 85kg. So were talking 4kg of muscle less on the frame of an 18 year old about to undertake his first AFL pre season. Yet he is the more skilful player.
  23. He played some good games and went missing in others(obviously he's not alone). His second year under Malthouse will be an interesting one.
  24. Both Gibbs and Trengove came highly rated, both played against men as kids, both still yet to deliver.
