Fair call Old Dee. It was me that suggested that. CHIP could leave and do his ACL, no I hope that doesn't happen whatever he chooses but footy can be a cruel game. Gumbleton being a great example. Our first game is a week away. On the chance he is still genuinely undecided, well we know as a club what we have to do.

Why couldn't we match an offer? Who else are we paying? Sorry forgot about Mitch, the bloke some people are supposedly laughing at? At a guess he would be on closer to 800k, but how much of his was front loaded.

We got Clark and Dawes, yes we traded for them but I'm pretty sure Lions fans were pi##ed as losing Clark. We win some, we loose some.

Fair call, i got excited when I read that when he tackles, they stay tackled. Not then raised his arms to offload a handball. But I've seen enough of Jordie.

Demons season opener v Saints
Bombay Airconditioning replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
Despite the Hawthorn game we have now shortened to $1.55 while the saints are out to $2.45. -
Riley is another one, I posted that at 11 last night. Never seen him play but from what I've read when he's fit Jordie won't be getting a game which is fine by me. As a I mentioned in a differant thread Watts might benefit from some boxing being introduced into his training on a regular basis.

Forgot Michie at 22.

Toumpas turned 20 just over 8 weeks ago, his career must nearly be over. Viney is 19, Trengove 22, Salem 18, Tyson 20. They are KIDS, they're not men yet. In those five we have the makings of a quality midfield with both inside and out side players, but they need time. Our club is coming from a long way behind the 8ball. If Roos chooses not to stay longer than two years we can only hope the likes of George Stone does.

IF we are fair dinkum...
Bombay Airconditioning replied to David Williamson's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interstate games over recent years are automatic losses. The team is mentally beaten before they run out. -
Since we now have different training regimes for different players it's now time to modify Watts. During pre season he should have built up a base level of fitness. I think Watts would benefit greatly from two, 1 on 1 boxing sessions a week through out the home and away season. Not only will boxing help maintain his fitness levels it will hopefully give him/teach him some courage, self confidence and find some inner aggression. He is blessed with extraordinary skills but is constantly held back by his fear of the contest. His training should be held away from the rest of the players and should include supervised sparing on a weekly basis. I don't see how this could be seen as a bad thing and we are basically running out of options.

Can someone please let me know when we can start comparing Jack Martin to Jesse Hogan. All I've heard is he is better than O'mera yet in a game where the Suns best 5 mids were rested he managed 1 kick and 10 handballs. I'm fully aware he is yet to play a home and away game but I'm not the one pumping up his tyres. Honestly can't see him having a bigger impact than O'mera , Crouch or Mitchell did in their first year. Can gladly say my SC and DT doesn't contain any Carlton or Richmond players nor does it have Jack Martin.

Over the last couple of years you got the feeling the team was already beaten before they even ran out. Obviously having your best 22 on the ground goes a long way but that fact that we don't doesn't mean we can't be competitive as we have shown over recent weeks. We are starting to build some real depth on the list. We need a repeat of our effort against the Cats today. Even without our trio of missing talls, if we play like we have been we can be 4 and 1 after 5 rounds. We have enough talent to beat the Saints, Giants, Suns and Carlton. By then our forwards should be looking at returning. Confidence and momentum are important so we need to gain some from today's game.

NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is a difference between Watts bashing and constructive criticism. Don't be fooled by numbers, early he seemed to jog around and look like he was mentally somewhere else. His tackles don't stick and he still lacks appetite for the contest. His game did improve as the game went on. I appreciate it was his first hit out for the year but needs to step up and find a new level of intensity. -
Will be interesting to see what happens from here.

He seems to always jogging, look of slight disinterest. Potential to be a game breaker but.... -

Watts need to attack the contest with some ferocity. -

In front of the box. Can't wait. -
Who's offended? Some of us simply want to see some effort on a weekly basis. As I posted yesterday mindset is free, as is application and a never say die attitude. That's all some of us are asking. Come years end regardless of wins/losses if I think they've had a real crack I will donate to their cause. I have already donated to Demon Heartland on my membership allowing kids who wouldn't normally be able to attend games for different reasons the chance to do so.

The biggest thing about the win over Richmond besides the inclusion of our new midfielders and our star in the making JKH was mindset. We actually went into a game not worrying about who wasn't playing but who was. We played with confidence and freedom. Roos won't be around for ever and the players know that. Roos was employed to install a culture at our club, the players need to embrace this culture then pass it on to the next generation of players and so on, then it becomes FREE. Having a great culture doesn't mean you will win every game, obviously having a few gun players helps but it should decrease the size of the losses when they occur. Port and the Dogs competed well last year for under resourced clubs. The Saints recently competed in a couple of grand finals and they aren't a wealthy club. While the AFL is still getting 1billion every five year for tv rights we aren't going anywhere and how is the salary cap becoming less relevant? Obviously being a ten year member is a clear sign of me not giving stuff and the fact I would rather donate to a charity like Life Line that does great work for those in need, for example - kids living on the street, kids who have been sexually abused or are contemplating taking their own lives as opposed to a team that was used to giving up when it all became to much for them further highlights how much I don't care. Come the end of the year if I think the players have given their all every week regardless of our win/loss record I will consider making a donation to the club, because I want to not because the club asked me to. And yes the club owes the supporters who went every week they could and sat through the endless floggings, all we asked for was the players to have a crack, play for the jumper and show some pride but at times that was clearly to much. You still living at home are you?

Great point mate, this year I chalked up ten consecutive years in the Redlegs even after moving to Sydney 4 years ago for work and only being able to attend about 5 games a year at the G. I normally take guests to the games I can attend and buy their overpriced merchandise for myself and my daughter. As much as I love the Dees and AFL in general any spare cash I have will be going to Life Line or Surf Life Savers.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Two key talls at the top of the draft for two teams that are already top heavy. Having said that hoping not to finish 17th. -
All good mate.
