When will we know we are taken seriously
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
We lost winnable games against the Saints, Giants and Suns. Admittedly we are more cohesive as a team now. We need a big scalp. -

North would be a great start. -
What was great about it was it was fair, it hurt the opponent, players aren't used to getting tackled like that, Riley got straight up after laying the tackle and looked for the next contest.

Was as at the game tonight, bloody pumped. There's opposition supporters, there's uneducated supporters then there's Essendon supporters. Every passage of every play to some of these people was holding the ball, holding the man, deliberate out of bounds, incorrect disposal...... Carlton and Collingwood have a certain arrogance about them but Bombers supporters have taken the cake. Blatantly no idea about the rules and their ongoing arrogance with regards to the whole drugs saga makes this win even sweeter . -
Very winnable game, work has me in Melbourne for a couple of weeks so I'm able to attend the pies/bombers/North games. My mate who is a pies supporter says that nearly every game is a blockbuster of sorts for his team because teams prime themselves for a big one when playing them. Clubs like us, the dogs, North and the saints do this because it's likely to the biggest crowd they will play in front off if we fail to make the finals. I like what Roos has done with changing the players mindset so that the players believe that every game is a winnable game. In years gone by interstate games were lost before boarding the plane, clubs celebrating someone's milestone or a club playing after a coaches sacking or the passing of a club great were a danger game (I know.....ten years of hell every game was a danger game). As we strive to become a dominant club we must accept that every club is a danger game but also a winnable one, not sit back at the start of the year and earmark certain games as winnable and the rest as automatic losses. Had we been playing like we are now from the start of the year we may well have another 2-3 wins. Yes the bombers will come out fighting but we shouldn't be viewing this any differently to any other game. Stick to our process, stick to our structures and do what we have trained to do. I think clubs that do this will be better served in the long run then clubs that come out full of hot air for the 1st qtr and a bit.

Post Match Discussion - Round 12
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah, because JKH had so much time to work himself into the game. -
Thanks Redleg. Watching the game live gives people a different perspective of our great game. Rugby league is designed for tv. Update.....we stopped at the merchandise van outside the ground, Melbourne scarfs and beanies we're bought, we might have two more.

My mate and his girlfriend relocated from Sydney last week. Today is their first AFL game, they both want to pick their own team to follow. I've done my part with 2 guest passes to the Redlegs. I look at the hype factor the other way. If we were getting ahead of ourselves we wouldn't be playing like we are. Port would have built on their great start last week and burried us. No excuses today, weather is great, strong team. Momentum is building.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 12

Just touched down in Melbourne and I'm bloody pumped. Massive chance today, good test for our midfield, break even or better there and the game is ours for the taking. -
GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

We won't know until an official announcement. Look at Buddy going to the Swans, the only person that picked that was the old lady who rang KB on Hungry for Sport. -
All time favourite Mick Malthouse moment is when there's 2 minutes to go in the game, Carlton are getting flogged, the camera cuts to the coaches box so Mick decides to pick up his binoculars as if he's got one move left up his sleeve.
-
It wasn't that long ago that some people questioned the coaching appointments of Malthouse and Roos, citing both were merely topping up their super. Two very different story now.

I was wrong about Pedo amongst others. I am happy to sit back and let those in charge do what they think is best for this club. -

Need another big effort from him on Monday. No doubt he will deliver, now for 200 games.

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

I've missed something, since when is Adelaide in their premiership window ? -
Exactly.....I didn't realise he was a big game player as some on here would have us believe .
-
No we don't, and as much as I don't like assumptions we can only assume the club thought it was fair as did Dunn.

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

I also thought that was the case but during an interview a few weeks back he talked about setting himself up, not knowing when your career could end and making the most of it. To me it sounded like money was now the driving force. As I said about Dunn, the club will offer him a fair contract, that fact we are on the up is a bonus. Now it's up to him. -
What I mean by "holding the cards" is Roos won't be held to ransom by anyone. Previous coaches would have buckled to demands of the likes of Sylvia and co. Successful clubs have the ability to say here's you're offer, it's a fair one, over to you.
-
Good point, I would like to think that Roos has mapped out the next couple of years in terms of types of players and the size of contracts.
-
My point is hopefully we have eliminated to certain extent the game playing aspect of contract negotiations. If you perform consistently you will be offered a contract that reflects that performance. It all starts with players having to earn their spot in the side and not being gifted games like we have done in the past.

Can't wait for Monday.
