  1. Watts decision making/disposal is brilliant but it took until the last qtr to run through a pack of players take possession of the ball, keep running and then dispose of it. I understand at times he needs to wait on the outside but there are occasions when he can win his own ball and tear it up. He has so much talent, it's coming I can see it. He's going to snap and become a force. Next week would be nice.
  2. I was on the AFL website earlier looking at the Melbourne season preview. Looking at who was let go last year then who they were replaced with was a positive. Yes there a still a few names to cut but are they only the depth players? We are starting to build some depth with regards to midfielders and defenders. We are coming fringe a long way back but were a lot better than last year. Watts needs to show something against a weakened StKilda.
  3. Can't agree, even if Joey and Stevens were playing. We have recruited well, we've played well in the first two games. Richmond are overrated but Geelong are seasoned. We found new avenues to the big sticks. We've showed real fight for the first time since Neitz was crashing the packs.
  4. Thoughts...... if people need any convincing just watch some of his highlights from last night.
  5. This might be old news but i don't live in Melbourne, just heard on SEN Dangerfield is holding of signing. Off to the Hawks for mine.
  6. Good post. But if he doesn't play next year and we still have to pay for him we are screwing ourselves.
  7. In my world there are two parts to a contract, the party providing services and the party paying for the services.
  8. Who said the injury's were his fault? Come years end if he is not playing/training with the club he should be delisted and his contract terminated. As I have already suggested the club will/should be there to offer support/counselling/professional help/job placement to help Mitch. Ordinary everyday people in ordinary everyday jobs take leave from their jobs for mental health reasons/to become carers/for child -relationship issues. Most company's are understanding at first but this can only be the case for so long. It's called the real world, try living in it.
  9. It's a good point. Watching the weekends games 2.6 millions dollars worth of talent combined for a total of 27 touches, 2 goal 3, 2 out of bounds and numerous dummy spits. I speak of none other that Duddy, Travis Joke and Jack from tigerland. For mine these three are highly overpaid, with Duddy you could argue the merchandise factor. They stand up against lesser opponents but constantly go missing in the big games. There's only so much money to go around and a good question that was asked of Adam Goodes yesterday was "has the signing of Buddy gone against the Bloods culture. Jacks latest contract meant Dusty went looking elsewhere, now we all know how that turned out but I'd take Dusty over Jack any day. The Pies claim to have got rid of Shaw and Daisy due to behavioural issues, yet Swan and Beams still remain. I think Buckleys arrogance and money was an issue. Now before I go on, obviously we all wish Mitch the best and hope that he can resolves the issues he currently faces but come years end if he is not back at the club training/playing, a decision must be made on his contract. We cannot afford to honour an 800k contract as some on here have suggested for someone who is not playing for reasons other than injury.(yes there are exceptions like grieving the loss of someone but were probably not looking at that in this case). As we still don't know the exact reasons we speculate like everyone else. The club, the AFL and the Players Association would have a number of counselling services available to Mitch and his family, a 800k pay cheque isn't required to utilise these services. If mental health issues are what's troubling him these services plus a job around the club(assisting an assistant) to keep in touch with him could be of great benefit to him . If he decides he wants to walk away from football well that's a decision that he needs to make. Come the end of the year the club could be faced with a tough decision. But the club also has to manage 40 odd other players. We already know we have a battle on out hands to keep Chip, and may face the same again when Hogan enters his last contracted year. Interesting times ahead.
  10. Our first port of call is securing our current players. Extending Hogans contract would be high on my list. We also need to nail Roos replacement. Chip comes third. I know Chip claims to want see who the coach is he may be already gone.
  11. How is it not fair? If he goes of his own accord he has broken the contract.
  12. Which of these is the odd one out? None they are all equally useless.
  13. its going to be interesting because for mine he's not the answer. Don't forget the Pies were beaten by Port in the finals. But he's a favourite son, fans are turning on him(not new for any club) but he has been there for years including his years as Micks understudy. How good would be a QB win be?
  14. My mate said no need to panic it's only round 1, I replied that's exactly the reason you should be panicking. They have at least three genuine stars, we don't have one. There's the top four then there's everyone else.
  15. Good luck to everyone but you are all going down. Hoping Langdon gets three games before players start coming back for the filth.
  16. Fair call Old Dee. It was me that suggested that. CHIP could leave and do his ACL, no I hope that doesn't happen whatever he chooses but footy can be a cruel game. Gumbleton being a great example. Our first game is a week away. On the chance he is still genuinely undecided, well we know as a club what we have to do.
  17. Why couldn't we match an offer? Who else are we paying? Sorry forgot about Mitch, the bloke some people are supposedly laughing at? At a guess he would be on closer to 800k, but how much of his was front loaded.
  18. We got Clark and Dawes, yes we traded for them but I'm pretty sure Lions fans were pi##ed as losing Clark. We win some, we loose some.
  19. Fair call, i got excited when I read that when he tackles, they stay tackled. Not then raised his arms to offload a handball. But I've seen enough of Jordie.
  20. Despite the Hawthorn game we have now shortened to $1.55 while the saints are out to $2.45.
  21. Riley is another one, I posted that at 11 last night. Never seen him play but from what I've read when he's fit Jordie won't be getting a game which is fine by me. As a I mentioned in a differant thread Watts might benefit from some boxing being introduced into his training on a regular basis.
  22. Toumpas turned 20 just over 8 weeks ago, his career must nearly be over. Viney is 19, Trengove 22, Salem 18, Tyson 20. They are KIDS, they're not men yet. In those five we have the makings of a quality midfield with both inside and out side players, but they need time. Our club is coming from a long way behind the 8ball. If Roos chooses not to stay longer than two years we can only hope the likes of George Stone does.
