POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
faultydet replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't want to be known for advocating violence, but i would not be sad to see someone snot Libba. Detestable cretin. Would be confident that he was at the centre of any stand-off between the two groups if it actually occurred. -
Agree. I also think a call-off between BT and Rex Hunt would be worth listening to just so you could see the cringe-O-meter explode. And then get Brayshaw and Underwood together and count the seconds to tinnitus.

Brian Taylor is in the top echelon of the worst commentators in the history of the game, with Rex Hunt, and Kellie Underwood. And please don't wind me up with Brayshaws "bang" call. It really does my head in. The combo of his horrible voice coupled with the inability to think of something good to say. My head hurts. Have a listen from around 1hr36min of this. The commentator who calls the Oliver goal is a life long Melbourne supporter. You can feel the emotion in his call. Brilliant. Also listen to his call of the final minute or so, almost cheering his team on to a flag. -
The new NRL expansion team Redcliffe Dolphins just signed up the old corpse Wayne Bennet who turns 72 on January 1st to a 4 year deal. I reckon we don't have much to worry about regards Chocos age.

I shouldn't be surprised by now, but I still shake my head at what others find as great commentary. That was so cringeworthy I can't even look at the screen due to embarrassment for the caller. And that bloody "bang bang bang" Grrrrrrrrrrrr -
I'd replace the lot of them with our 2021 team, but that's just me.......

Convinced enough to think he is worth a 3 year extension beyond the coming year he already has. Things can change fast in this game. And as I said, if he gets us another flag next year we can always extend again.

You don't sell the near term future while on the turps during a celebration. I think a 3 year extension is more than fair. Means he has 4 more years with this list to make a real legacy for himself and the club. We can always offer another extension if he takes us to another cup next year.

Agree with Jim. Those missions are like 3rd world countries where to a large extent, traditional laws are followed. It's another planet from there to inner city Melbourne and it's saturation AFL coverage. Remarkable he survived in the AFL as long as he did.
-
To be fair, it was amazing that we kept Jurrah for as long as we did. He was straight out of a remote mission wasn't he? That's a big big step to go from there to Melbourne.
-
He would probably prefer you to talk about his aggression towards players who are not in the top 10 softest players in the entire league.

It's the little things that make the whole

Quite a contrast between Daisy, who is one of my favorites on any AFL media, and the BT/Brayshaw combo who are head and shoulders above all as the worst currently in the game. They are as bad as Rex Hunt at his best. "Kouta Fida Meedees kicked it to the left of the stick" Just shockingly bad. But that "bang bang bang" call has me shaking my head every time I hear it. A historic football moment ruined by a hopeless caller. -
Yeah, I agree, but I don't see Weid as a recruit by our current crop.. They'd see right through Weid.
-
I don't know how old you are, but by Christ his old man made the most of his talent. One of the best brilliant/average players I have seen, certainly in Dees colors. If his boy is cut from the same cloth, we have a solid player in our sights.

Lies and statistics......

Anyone who reminds you of Jack Watts would not get close to being drafted by the current Melbourne organisation. He had minimal physical presence in the air for a 195 odd cm tall. We don't draft players like that now.
-
You'll have 6 months to plan, and after all of our finals being in different states with locked down borders, you Melbournians still find something to complain about if you can't choose the exact day and time? I'd be going if it was played in my home town at 3am on a Tuesday.
-
Nice to see all of our Premiership players having the opportunity to run out for the flag unfurling next year. May not be a regular, but will push Hunt to get back to his best. Well done Hibbo and M.F.C

I keep saying this, but they really are the worst commentary team I have ever heard. BT with his made up words and constant need to tell the "points difference" at the height of his call, and Brayshaw and his annoying as hell voice. They have a unique ability to call some of the enjoyment out of the game. And I must be alone in that i HATE watching the replay of his "bang, bang bang" call. When you can't think of anything to say in the big moments, pick a word and repeat it. The call from Commettis mob of the same 3 goals is a nice comparison if you can find it. -

guilty. I'd just climbed out of the shower having decided I couldn't watch any more, when I heard my missus shouting after we got back to within 1 point. I then had the joy of calling the Old man and brother, who I just knew would be in bed already. Good feeling to telling the family to "get out of bed, we're about to win the flag" -

Similar rules were used to award Gary Ablett Snr "mark of the Century" A joke. -
Bulldogs 2016 were the classic over achievers. They got through with a handful of players in career best form and a system of previously unseen and AFL sanctioned cheating (throwing the ball). Ive got much more faith in their current list for sustained success. And I wouldnt be surprised if we drop a few early next season with our late pre-season start before coming home hard.
-
That is a solid point that I'm guessing some haven't given much thought to. The AFL has actually been assisted greatly by the lockdowns, as some players would certainly have contracted the virus if they were running around town. Hopefully it can only be caught once, otherwise we face the prospect of team lockdowns indefinitely.

Would make a terrific coffee table book. Would buy. Please link you online store once you get it written.....
