  1. He has played quite well since been moved to the back line. Good kicking skills, and holds his own in one on one contests, particularly when the ball hits the ground. I think he has found a spot down there, and possibly saved his career at Melbourne. What are peoples thoughts on his performance since his move to the backline?
  2. I think Dunn has been quite impressive down back. He is decent when the ball hits the ground in one on one contests. His disposal is a real asset down there as well as you can back him in to hit the targets on the switch. Disposal out of the back line has been a real issue for us this year. Really hoping a full pre season can give Blease, Strauss, Tapscott and Gysberts a tank. Sam Blease could be a star if he can significantly improve his endurance. He is very clean and not scared in a contest, could be great in the midfield. I like Tapscott and Strauss as our small backs, as their disposal is decent. Just need to improve their fitness.
  3. So much so that you still wouldn't have a clue how we have decided upon continuing with CS. Really wish they made that discreet phone call they apparently never made to ask Cooky and Swanny to see how they are travelling...
  4. I'm not saying that I agree with making this phone call, but how is it that you know that a "discreet" phone call wasn't made?
  5. I judge CS on the off-field results. We were an enormous going concern risk before CS came to the club. This position has improved enormously since CS came to the club. The only influence he has over the playing group is the resources he puts behind that. Pretty obvious that area has improved out of sight since CS came on board (i.e. 2 coaches for each line; Neil Craig; Dave Mission; Todd Viney; Josh Mahoney and Chris Connelly in brand new roles etc). He has obviously had issues in quickly securing significant major sponsors. Good luck to any CEO in securing significant long term sponsorship deals. We are hardly in a position to demand lucrative deals. Never the less, let's sack him... I don't work at the club, so I have no idea about the inside workings of the club. So from the outside looking in, I find it hard to fault CS. Unless I'm keen on making huge statements about things that I'm only guessing and really have no idea about. Most of the negative things people write about CS on here are fairly baseless, not supported by anything overly factual, and are usually about events / circumstances that are very indirectly linked backed to the responsibility of the CEO position. Most of these negative things conclude with the brilliant idea of sacking CS. It's the easy solution, the one that does not require any further thinking to resolve issues at hand. If the club and it's board members decide they don't want CS to continue, then he has obviously not performed to the standard expected and required of him. Until then, I'll refrain from posting that this man needs to lose his job.
  6. Was Jurrah really benched in the 3rd quarter, and didn't return to the field until late in the 4th?? Did that really happen?
  7. You would think that if you had to choose, there would be a preference for another forum, on the footy club we all love, to survive? It's as if some form of internet forum competition exists with some people here, and even on Demonology. It's ridiculous
  8. Super keen for Demonology to revive. I can't attend but am fully supportive of the efforts to get it back up and running. Can't understand why anybody would have an issue with having two sites? I have seen people pay out on Demonology on here, seriously boggles my mind as to why anybody would have something against another Demon website?
  9. Tom McDonald's kicking is a liability. Guy competes his butt off, but he butchers simple kicks far too frequently
  10. Nicholson also played on after a mark on the half forward onto his right foot straight into traffic. I'm hoping as our confidence improves so does our composure
  11. I think I read somewhere that he had the LARS done. Surely not at such a young age?
  12. Was just about to post the same thing. We have significantly increased our football department expenditure, along with all the off field issues, and we are still tracking in the black. I struggle to see why on earth you would sack somebody in this situation. I think it is ridiculous to think that Cameron is at fault for our poor skills out of the back line and our inability to spread dangerously from the midfield. It's not an easy gig being CEO of Melbourne, a lot tougher than some of the other clubs around town, and I think Cameron is doing a good job.
  13. Haven't read any of the posts following the opening post. But I'm going to say this is a ridiculous idea. Will achieve absolutely nothing other than more harm.
  14. RIP Jim. Cannot begin to describe how truelly inspiring you are. And you will forever will be.
  15. We saw the time of 2 hours 9 min 13 sec and thought it was achievable. We then found some courage that can only be found in the bottle of a beer, and informed Guinness we would make an attempt! We have raised nearly $1,300 so far, every dollar counts, so thanks mate we really appreciate it!
  16. Hello, Long time reader, irregular poster here. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate Board to post this on, please advise if it isn't. On the 15th of April, I along with a mate of mine Steve will be attempting to break the current Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon in a two man camel costume. This crazy idea will be part of the Geelong Cross Country Club half marathon. As part of this, we are raising funds for the Reach Foundation, which I know many of you are very familiar with. For those of you that are not, Reach was established by our inspiring former President Jim Stynes and co. in 1994 and helps young people between the age of 10 and 18 to "Reach" their potential. Each year Reach's programs help 57,000 young Australians around the country. This money will fund programs and camps for youth who have lacked the opportunities we have both being fortunate enough to have. If you are interested in supporting us, and more importantly the Reach Foundation, please follow the following link to the fundraising webpage we have set up with Everyday Heroes: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/hero_pages/view_posts/two_men_one_camel All donations are tax deductable and greatly appreciated! We have recently gained some media exposure in the Geelong Advertiser: http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2012/03/13/312821_local_sports.html And are looking to possibly broadcast our attempt in the Herald Sun and Footy Show, so keep an eye out! Thank you for the support, and go the Mighty Dees!! Nathan
  17. The OOB rule really hurt us tonight. Positives: Bate: Ran in straight lines at the pill and cleared space. On that performance could be a great move to hang onto him, credit to Bater as well. Tynan: Super hard and not afraid to have a crack. Grimes: When it was there to be won he was in the thick of it. Great to see him back. Our hardness was terrific. Negatives: May have just been the weather and the fact it's brand new, but I'm a little concerned the game plan is too simple. Definatly not having a heart attack like some other people on here who love to sensationalise. they did look a lot better when switching the play more in the 2nd half against Brisbane. The OOB rule was a huge liability for our style of play last night as well. Looking forward to seeing how we go about it next week. Watts: I'm a big fan but he couldn't get into it last night. Was working hard defensively in the Brissy game I noticed so not concerned its an effort thing.
  18. Risa is Michael Riseley. Brother of recent Olympic distance runner Jeff Riseley. No surprises he is smashing the time trials
  19. Hmm not sure, I think Evans hair might be darker. Jack Viney maybe?
  20. Anybody have any idea who the other bloke was who was running with jones, bail and nicholson? It didn't look like Tom McDonald, too short. He led them off the start line in the footage also
  21. We've got coaches coming out our ears, I reckon we'll manage
  22. Green is a good set shot (well, before this year anyway), but his field kicking isn't the best. He tends to kick up and unders, rather than low bullets, particulary on the run. I don't think he is really suited to half back
  23. It's defiantly just pick 12? Because I think that is a fantastic move! He was pick 9 in his draft year, a big man who take time, and he is only mid 20's, so his best footy you would think is in front of him. This is a compromised draft, that is also a weak draft from all reports, so pick 12 may not be so great. We have 3 first round draft picks, 3 of them, in next years draft. All reports are that next years crop is a bumper crop. My guess is that we are front loading his contract enormously. This is part of the reason he found the offer so attractive. I doubt we would of paid 100% of the salary cap. I'm confident in the final 2 years of his contract, it is not going to take up a large amount of room in our cap, we actually will probably be paying unders for him. From a list managements perspective, anything put in this years cap is "free money" in a way as we need to get to 100%. Putting these factors together, I really don't think there is much to dislike about this move
  24. He sounds good on paper, let's hope he can get some good structure and organization into the boys. We need a clear purpose, 22 blokes on the same page. To anybody who says we have "missed an opportunity", "got another Bailey", please explain what we should have done instead. To say he will demand any less respect than an 'experienced' coach is a simplistic, baseless argument.
