  1. Agree, we have nothing to trade up with outside of trading down from 10
  2. Nothing against Pickett, but I like this, purely as I'd like to go in thinking it could be anyone (even if it is Pickett), much more enjoyable. Out if interest, are you confident in this source?
  3. I think the big risk at the moment is that Pickett is taken by Hawks, Port or Doggies after our pick 10. Highly doubt we can split pick with Port, as they want all 3 picks before 18 before a bid on Mead, therefore I doubt 28 is of interest. This leaves Geelong and GC as options, but the risk may be too great we will miss out on Pickett at those picks.
  4. Wonder whether they are considering moving down from 10 and strengthining hand next year, leaving 28 as is. Maybe Geelong at 14 or GC at 15 for a future pick of some sort. Not sure what future picks those 2 own?
  5. I thought the same thing. Pretty sure it's an error in the article, as they just updated the original article from pre pick swap. I don't think they meant to suggest we are pick swapping pick 10
  6. Lord Nev is the number 1 on trade / draft time poster power rankings at the moment
  7. Bidding for Green helps the value of pick 10, kind of hoping we do bid. Even just for the entertainment value
  8. I reckon it's probably more from GWS side, where they are happy to have sold the farm for Jackson OR Green + someone else. If we bid, and they don't match, they have effectively used 12, 18 and next year's 1st on Jackson. It's a either a huge risk they have taken (that we won't bid) or they really rate Jackson
  9. Good get on this. Your source got anything else for us?
  10. It's 8 for 10, 28 and Carlton future 4th. On MFC app
  11. Yeah I thought the same, however have not been able to get this clarified for certain anywhere. A way around it I feel would be to get the owner of pick 23 (Adelaide) involved, where they receive 22 and we receive 23, basically giving them a free upgrade and enabling the trade.
  12. Cheers mate. No dramas at all not passing on source wouldn't expect you to. Wondering whether it was a Twitter / bigfooty type rumour or more solid. I'll take this as more solid haha!
  13. Agreed, Freo at the very least should do same deal with Carlton. 22 is gone, so they might as well use it to move up in the draft
  14. A bid is going to come for Henry before 22, so Freo will lose this pick regardless. Makes sense they use it to move up 2 spots. They get a better selection and remove the risk of a bid coming before 10. To me it seems a no brainer, I'm surprised the media haven't suggested it as an option more? Where are the rumours you're hearing coming from?
  15. Have suggested this before, but anyway we can tag or pin posts in the training threads that relate to training? Absolutely love all the training posts, cannot be assed reading all the rubbish internet bickering between them
  16. Found this article which helps. I'll try do some scenarios a bit later. https://m.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-12/afl-closes-draft-bidding-system-loophole
  17. Let's say they trade out pick 6 for a future pick, are they still able to match a bid if it came at pick 3? I know they can go into deficit, but how much is the max they can go into deficit? I imagine pick 40 & 59 still wouldn't be enough?
  18. Be very surprised if those picks could turn into anything early. I don't think we will trade with GWS. They will hope we don't bid and then trade with Adelaide I feel. If we do bid, they may even trade pick 6 for a future first rounder. My only query on this option would be whether they would have enough points to match the minimum requirement to match a bid? And if they did, would they still then need to draft 2 further players at the end of the draft to meet the minimum requirement?

If we can fit the large first year salary into the cap (maybe a bit of Elliot money?), it means the remaining 4 years are probably $450-500k, which isn't too bad considering we're not trading anything for him. Big issue is how much space do we have in next year's cap? Happy to pay him whatever is left in the cap for next year as it would just be left unspent otherwise
  20. Will they have leftover picks to trade with Freo? Surely they are all used to match the pick 3 bid?
  21. A way around it might be get Adelaide involved and they get 22 and we get their 23?
  22. Makes a lot of sense. But does anybody know if are we allowed to do 8 for 10 and 22, given 22 was originally our pick, traded to Freo in Langdon trade? Reading a couple of previous posts suggest this may not be permitted under the new rules?
  23. Not sure that is right. They traded away 12 and 18 to obtain 6. 12 and 18 are worth more points than 6
  24. Best part of trade week are these inside info posts, love em, cheers for the info! In your opinion, do you think it would be difficult to appease the other party in a trade for this player with our current assets? Or am I pushing my luck with this question haha
  25. Think we are still keen on it. In Mahoneys trade radio interview he mentioned it was important we maintained our draft position, both this year and next, as part of todays trades to set up for the remaining period of the trade period.
