  1. Answer me this. Why did GWS up there offer this week to 6 years and a larger amount front loaded?
  2. Credit for guessing Scully would take a once in a lifetime financial opportunity? Quoting gut feelings, and confidants that he was 70-30 chance of going deserves praise? Your response to this news with a BOOYAH is sad. Although you post a lot, you add no value to this forum. I don't blame Scully for taking the money. Once the story broke early in the year, there was never going to be a good time to announce he was leaving no matter when he actually made his mind up. It's extremely disappointing non the less
  3. Back pedal from what? That I don't know what Scully is going to do?
  4. Mate, if Scully leaves, you guessing that Scully would accept more money and leave 6 months ago means nothing more than you guessed right. People kick up a fuss about your posts because you write them in a manner in which you make out it's actual knowledge, rather than pure speculation and your best guess. 1000 posts or 1 post, you have guessed that a bloke will accept a ridiculously inflated contract and leave the MFC (hardly amazing foresight). My opinion is the longer this goes, the greater chance the MFC has of keeping Scully. However at this stage, the majority of evidence suggests he is likely to go. I'm not Tom Scully. I'm not related to him. I have no connection with him of the club that allows me have any stronger indication of his intentions. Therefore I'm not going to tell everybody what Tom Scully, the MFC, Cameron Schwab or anybody else has done or is doing in regards to Tom Scully's contract and future
  5. You are passing your theories off as if they are fact. If Tom goes, he goes. If Tom stays, he stays. But from reading your posts, I'm pretty certain you're not privy to any personal info from either Tom or the club. If this is not the case, I apologise.
  6. Do you actually know this? Or are you guessing?
  7. If he announces his departure to GWS, the majority of the reporters guessed that he would accept more money to play at GWS. It won't improve the quality of some of the rubbish articles written. 90% of the articles just infer that he is leaving without any back up. The Mike Sheahan and Jay Clark articles about a month ago, both on the same day, were just rubbish reporting. The Jay Clark article was straight out of New Idea. If these articles are the sort of stuff you like to read in the paper then fair enough. It's definatly not my cup of tea. Jay Clark http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/rift-with-dees-top-brass-may-force-tom-scully-to-take-the-money-and-run/story-e6frf9jf-1226098679151 "When asked recently by a confidant to assess the likelihood of him heading north, Scully, 20, said he was 70-30." Mike Sheehan http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/tom-scully-as-good-as-gone/story-e6frf9jf-1226098658551 Another Mike Sheehan article on the Malthouse situation http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/mick-malthouse-wont-be-at-collingwood-in-2012-says-mike-sheahan/story-fn7shz1t-1226122423068 "It's a decision that's understood to have been fixed in his mind for several weeks. It remains private to avoid any potential disruption to the club's 2011 premiership campaign." Is he taking the pi$$? And your point on accountability is right. They are not accountable, unless people turn away from reading and listening. I admit I still read the newspapers daily, probably more out of a lifetime habit since I was in the early years of primary school. I got a bit carried away with calling them all fools. There are clearly a few people that let down the rest. The bloke in WA that has written a few articles linked in this thread, a prime example. Just tuning in to Footy Classified and watching Hutchy, and sometimes Caro, trying their best to manufacture a story, whilst Garry sits next to them providing reason and thoughtful comments is another example.
  8. +1 I'm not confident in either him staying or going. I simply don't know Tom, or have the ability to read his mind. But if the journalists these days reported truthful and balanced articles, I would buy their paper. Instead they produce absolute guesswork, sensationalised rubbish, and are completely unaccountable for it. The Mike Sheehan article a month back topping the list. If I was Tom, a part of me would want to stay just to stick it to the media and the pack of fools that are involved in it.
  9. I reckon the press is the reason for these big blow outs in the comp at the moment
  10. I don't see how it has anything to do with courage. He doesn't want to do it long term cos he doesn't enjoy a lot of it. He enjoys what he does now. Nobody has any right to expect him to do anything. It's his life. He built his fame on hard work and been skillful at his job. Why would he commit long term to something he doesn't want to do?
  11. Can you fill us in on what you are doing? More than Garry?
  12. Yeah, no balls. Taking on a role he doesn't want. Doing the job despite having a busy and successful job in the media. Giving up time with his wife and young boys to help this club out in the tough times. But no, you are Garry Lyon and I am going to sit on my ass and tell you to turn ur life upside down to help the club. Oh, and you have no balls because your not intending to do it for the long haul. I ignore a lot of posts. Look at my post count compared to sign up date. But these posts add absolutely no value. And no, I'm sorry, that is not a good point
  13. Think I'm going to give up. I just can't understand posts like this.
  14. He also said Green MAY not be captain. And that Greg Healy is favorite at this stage for football director
  15. I don't think there is anything wrong with this. I reckon a stronger sign of weakness is becoming hysterical in the tough times
  16. I think the way todays game is being played is increasingly like basketball. It is imperative that when you don't have the footy, wherever you are on the field, whether the ball is near you or not, you have to be actively thinking and moving to be in the exact correct position. No longer can you cruise, switch the brain off a bit and generally jog in the right areas. Players need to be cutting down angles, be proactive in their thoughts and movements. On defense in basketball, it's not about stealing the ball off your direct opponent, it's about denying every other bloke the ball, creating pressure and panic on the guy with the ball. This is a mentality that needs to be drilled into our players. The urgency of our boys when they dont have the footy is way off where it needs to be. It is so important that they continue to think and be urgent in their movements wherever they are on the field. I can see that both our offensive and defensive game plans are flawed and stagnant. I understand this is unlikely to change until next year. But the mentality ive explained above I believe should begin to be rammed home to the boys. Thoughts?
  17. It will be interesting to see if there will be any tweaks to the game plan or player positions I.e. Dangerfield on the ball under Bickley last week. Davey up forward is my tip. Maric dropped suggests this too.
  18. What did you sit behind him at the footy? Were you standing in the corner at a function watching him? Does he even know you are? You based your last character assassination of him on a hunch. If you could provide some detail on how you know these things I'd be more inclined to take them on board.
  19. Why do you make statements about things you don't know about? Do you work at the club and know what Schwab gets up to?
  20. He is actually saying CS is full of it
  21. Legend of Australian sport! Cadel deserves every moment of it. Proud to be an Aussie!
  22. I personally think it is easier to turn down 5 million dollars when the other offer is 3 million. But that's just me, and I love this club. BTW I think this proves that what Scully said in March was true. GWS didnt need to formally speak to anyone close to Scully, they put the rumor out there in a number of ways which alerts the world, including Scully, of their interest. I think the only way a journo knows that 'he is 98%' gone is if they think the GWS offer is 98% way too good to turn down. Next game at the MCG I hope us supporters give Scully one almighty roar! Stuff like that can only help us when this young man makes one of the most important decisions in his young life.
