  1. The best thing about recording a decent win tomorrow is that it will spoil both Gary Lyon and Gerard Healey's football tips (and help both Wayne Carey Dermott Brereton). It is a tragedy that the only past superstars of the game who have faith in us come from other Clubs rather than one of our own!
  2. i beg to differ on that. i think that it is to the contrary. Most Demon supporters in the MCC membership take out the option of a MFC membership at the same time they renew. it is for a lesser cost as they do not require admission to the Ground so the Club so the Club's net position is possibly similar. These numbers are included in the MFC membership total! p.s. As the MCC members renew their memberships back in August [to gain admission to the Finals], they are also the first MFC members to renew for the following year, thereby becoming the nucleus of the next year's membership.
  3. Trouble with aiming for 35,000 by Round one is that we aimed too low? Richmond aimed for 70,000 (twice our target) and already had 66+ '000 before last night's match. I have no doubt that they will be over 70,000 by the end of the weekend after last night's come-back demolition of Carlton. Outside of Demonland and Demonology, Dees supporters simply aren't passionate enough!
  4. In an ideal World, Hogan will combine with Watts tomorrow to kick a bag, with Garlett, Frost, Kent, JKH and Vandenberg putting the icing on the cake! Let's hope for a massive statement tomorrow to show that we are back!
  5. It makes no difference if Frost is front or back if Jamar goes down. the only difference is Garland vs. Dawes [who is probably a better back-up ruck]
  6. Buy another one. We are less than half Richmond's membership numbers as it is!
  7. No question now. He is named and playing. Only question is who will be the sub out of him and vandenBerg?
  8. It will be interesting to see if Frost remains in the forward structure when Dawes returns for Round 2? What are the views of Demonlanders? My personal one is that he would be invauable in the back structure with his speed and height [until O. McDonald is ready to come into the side]. Just a shame that he presents as a better option for the forward line than the alternatives of Pedo, Fitzy or Gawn.
  9. Nice to know some celebrities give a bit of thought to their team analysis and have the courage to back us publicly. Gary Lyon has tipped aganst us this week, much as he has done for years. I suspect that it is now at the stage that he finds it difficult to back us, probably the only MFC ex-captain to consistently pick against us. Not much of a role model for loyalty or passion l am afraid!
  10. Maybe you should watch more footy?
  11. If this is the first of this segment then bring it on! I can't wait until he works his way through the entire list. I was most encouraged by Dom's positive attitude about: 1) how the preseason went; 2) how the trades have slotted in and contributed to the playing group and 3) how Goodwin is respected.
  12. The long and short of it is that Gary Lyon has never done us any favours. He always picks against us in the celebrity footy tipping, demonstrating that his desire to look good in the tipping is more important to him than appearing to support our young players. You never see Eddie Maguire tip against Collinwood (not ever)!
  13. Nice to see that you have mentioned most sides in your analysis apart from five of the Melbourne-based teams, but particularly pleasing to see that you have completely discounted both Carlton and Collingwood as not being worthy of comment!
  14. I am not against the individual players not receiving penalties, especially those now at other Clubs. Essendon should not get out of this Scott-free however (notwithstanding the fact that they have already been given some penalty)! IMO, Essendon should forfeit matches or even a season, even though Cooney, Chapman, etc are also been caught up in the wash. No reason that any players should lose match payments or be financially penalised as a result of a situation that they were caught up in as employees. With the farcial paid holiday in France and the States, Hird certainly wasn't despite his managerial role!
  15. There is only one thing for the AFL to do and that is honour the memory of ANZAC by removing the two drug-tainted Clubs from participation in the ANZAC Day match. No Collingwood or Essendon! Maybe the Dees vs St. Kilda might be two worthy combatants!
  16. Plus we are missing Trengrove and Petracca, two #2 draft picks! Easy to overlook this and that fact that, fully fit, they are both capable of impacting games and rotating through our midfield. Also, losing to St. Kilda last year was assisted by our sudden depletion of, (for the first ime in years), a potentially elite forward structure with Clark and Hogan lining up alongside Dawes and Watts.
  17. Praha I enjoyed your objective analysis which, in the main, put a positve spin on things (if we had a convincing win come Round 1). And then you finish on a pessimistic note! Lucky the Demonlanders (and supporters) who read your post are already committed.
  18. Even better if they are two BOGs!
  19. Was there any training today(Wednesday 25)?
  20. Only decided to look at this thread after the fourth page, but surely we must have some nitwits in our promotion/marketing areas. To throw away any new clothing on the outset of winter is pretty stupid. What is wrong with every tramp in Melbourne sporting a MFC scarf. If we donated all clothing, including jumpers with last year's sponsors, scarves from last year, etc to Vinnies or the Salvos, it would demonstrate that we are a caring Club concerned with the homeless.
  21. On another thread, a poster (Samael) suggested that he had heard that Casey was playing a different game style to Melbourne. I replied to his post as follows: "As regards the Casey alignment, I think that you might find that the coaching is more integrated than you realise. Not only is the senior coach, Plapp, on the payroll of the MFC but assistant (playing) coach, Shannon Brynes and Line coach, Brad Miller, both former MFC players are also paid by MFC. With some of the MFC pre-season practice matches and training sessions involving Casey players and with half the Casey team each week comprising MFC players and rookies, I am sure that Roos and Goodwin are managing it closely to see that the respective game plans closely align." I could be wrong about this and maybe KC or someone else close to the Scorps may like to either confirm or refute this?

  23. Plus "The Song" has posted all the anticipated speeches so the only reason to go in person is to eat and drink and make your donation!
  24. Dunn was doing that all last year while Frawley was up forward.
