    Big Max

63 hit-outs = 2nd most for all-time VFL/AFL record. Our Champion! edit: Not bad up against an opponent who many regard as the top ruck in the AFL.
  2. It is the same knee according to the MFC website.
  3. I see that they omitted Kennedy. We are not likely to make that mistake.
  4. I have watched him at training a few times and cannot help but agree. I can't wait until he plays how first AFL game (& love it to be against the Pies)!
  5. -14 Umpires (to cancel out Robbie57)
  6. 6. Viney 5. Gawn 4. Vince 3. Watts 2. Kent 1. Oliver
  7. Watts payed well in my view. Three good goals and at least two effective goal assists. Only downside was attempting to pass to Hogan at a critical time.
  8. It wasn't eight goals to nil it was eight goals to two against a strong breeze. In the second we outscored them nine goals to two so we recovered pretty well I would say. The umpiring killed is (even if they evened up in the end). At one stage they had ten extra frees. Pleased with the effort but the efficiency let us down!
  9. M. Jones was our fourth highest possession player (even if some went awry) . Bugg more likely to,lose his spot.
  10. Hopefully that will put us on top of both ladders with a healthy % in the Ones!
  11. Hopefully he'll interchange with Grimes as Full Forward! M
  12. I still like Brendan Gale's idea > a drop kick from the "G"!
  13. Actually I hadn't read AaC's post on the Brunswick Street oval before but I like it. I am sure that lots of nostalgic inner city hipsters of all ages would revel in the idea, particular those with a previous association with Fitzroy like Jack Irish. The idea of having one home base as the greatest stadium in the Western World and the other the hippest boutique ground in the Antipodes has immense appeal! Having said that, I still like the idea of Melbourne sharing Brendan Gales touted new 40,000 seat stadium at Punt Road (whilst the Tigers continue to share access to the "G")! We could extend our arrangement at AAMI Stadium and continue to train at Gosch's Paddock. Better still, in addition to playing all our reserves home matches at Punt Road (or as curtain raisers at the "G"), we could also play the Suns and Giants there and never have to traipse to Etihad again. Like AaC, I have a vested interest as all three venues suggested above are within walking distance of my home (with Brunswick Street readily availed with free weekend travel (tram) on a Seniors Card)!
  14. Thanks for starting the discussion as a stand-alone post!
  15. What happened to training reports from the last three sessions? So many great reports coming from Demonlanders (often accompanied by suggested changes for the following round): they are sadly missed. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-04-06/jeff-garlett-in-doubt-for-clash-with-north-melbourne-after-rolling-ankle?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News
  16. The articles are based on the premise that Pavlich is keeping the seat (& his salary) warm until the end of 2017 however also points out that why would Hogan go home to a rebuilding Club. I would just dismiss it out of hand, particularly as by then he will have had two enjoyable seasons playing alongside Petracca!
  17. 7 NEWS views of Wayne Carey (pasted below): __________________________________________________________________________ AFL great Wayne Carey has defended Jesse Hogan after the Melbourne key forward's lacklustre start to the season attracted some fierce criticism. Hogan has divided opinion sharply among some of the best key forwards in AFL history after only kicking one goal in Saturday's upset loss to Essendon. Last year's Rising Star winner also was having a quiet day in round one, before he helped spark the comeback win over GWS with three last-quarter goals. Former Essendon full forward Matthew Lloyd savaged Hogan on Monday, calling the 19-year-old's body language in the opening two matches horrific. Another former key forward great, Hawthorn star Dermott Brereton, accused Hogan of being non-competitive when the ball went to ground in the Bombers game. But Carey, the two-time North Melbourne premiership captain and an all-time great centre half-forward, said Hogan should be cut some slack. "You have to remember, this kid's 19 - he's played 22 games," Carey said on Seven's Talking Footy. "And with the body language ... I think Jesse Hogan gets really disappointed with himself more so than he does (with) teammates. "If he's not playing well - and he hasn't had a great start to the season - I just see that he gets really down. "Now, can he improve that? Absolutely." Carey noted that Hogan has put off contract talks with Melbourne until the end of the season, amid growing speculation about whether he might stay at the Demons long-term. "Let's not forget, he's just a kid and the expectations and the talk around contracts and all sorts of stuff - how's this kid meant to handle all that at just 19?," Carey said. "I think he'd like to be told how he's going - what he's doing right, what he's doing wrong. "He's a very proud young player who's set a pretty high standard already. "I think it's more about him rather than his teammates doing something wrong." Melbourne onballer Bernie Vince added that players up the ground were not doing Hogan many favours with how the ball had been delivered to him so far this season. "I'd be pretty frustrated, too ... we just need to get it in better, it's probably our fault," Vince said.
  18. Rather than focus on Lloyd or on Brereton's criticism of Hogan perhaps we should focus on Carey's sage advice (pasted below): ______________________________________________________________ AFL great Wayne Carey has defended Jesse Hogan after the Melbourne key forward's lacklustre start to the season attracted some fierce criticism. 19. We are not only well ahead of Freo but more importantly we are ahead of Essendrug, Collingwood and Carlton (plus Port, St. Kilda and Brisbane) and we are on the same number of wins as the Crows, Giants, Cats, Eagles, Hawks, and Richmond! Surprisingly, their supporters all intend to turn up next week regardless.
  20. With the exception of the Suns, Dogs, Swans and Roos who we play next week. Playing them in Tassie will test Jack's self-belief!
  21. Love to see Weideman debut against the Pies.
  22. Round 1 Suns beat Bombers Geeong beat Premiers Dogs beat Dockers Dees beat Giants Round 2 Suns beat Dockers Giants beat Geelong Bombers beat us Hawks beat Eagles in other words we beat GWS who beat Geelong who beat the Hawks who beat the Eagles and we were beaten by the Bombers (who were beaten by the Suns who beat the Dockers who lost to the Dogs) Question Are things really that bad or would you rather be Freo?

  24. As I pointed out in my edit, when the Bombers were beaten by the Suns, the Suns went on this week to beat the Dockers at home. Similarly, we beat the Giants last week who have gone on to beat Geelong today.
