Pedersen was 66% DE and Frost was 57% DE, both a worry when you consider that Matt Jones was 95% DE and saw more of the ball (i.e. 21 disposals against Frost and Pedersen who combined for a total of 19 disposals)!

Who do you think will also debut for us in 2016?
CBDees replied to Left-Field's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting trying to predict when the season has started with the FD promoting any rookies, even the additional one we are allowed as compensation for Melksham. -

Petracca and Weidman. Wagner, Hunt and/or Hulett ahead of the Kings though. Unless we have a run of injuries, there may not be much room for anyone else to debut this year considering Trengove has still got to come in and HL, Dunn, Brawshaw, Strech, ANB and JKH to force their way back in before the others are even contemplated. Also expect Dawes to play a few games this year. -
I am also happy to back Petracca playing next weekend against the Bombers. He has moved freely over recent weeks and has participated freely at training, starring in the match simulation drills. In my view he is cherry ripe to go buy should this not prove to be the case, if we manage game time like we did in Round One (using only 80 of our permitted 90 interchange rotations) then we should be able to get him through his debut with no detriment to the team effort.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY
CBDees replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hopefully down the track Weideman will be the tall forward lock of which you speak but as for now Watts is a lock and so will Petracca be once he gets a call up. That's a solitary position in the forward half (bar injuries) so expect some of the players you have named getting games in the midfield and on the wing. -
I cannot understand how Salem's game has suddenly gone unnoticed? It is not as though he has put a step wrong.
-
6. Watts 5. Viney 4. T. Mac 3. Oliver 2. Kennedy 1. Salem

Two nice positive summaries and with the talent to come back in our depth is genuine. The only omission in the posts above is the fact that we may even see Weideman make a cameo appearance this year. Look forward to us ending the home and away series in the Final Eight.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
CBDees replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
The irony is that, in contrast to the Wines vs. Toumpas debate which raged on this site for years, both Oliver and Parish seem to be the goods judging from yester day's respective debuts! -
McCartney's influence is very under-rated with all talk being about Goodwin and the transition from Roos. People overlook the fact that we now have one of the strongest coaching structures in the AFL (and an increasingly strong integration with our VFL-aligned side as we saw at training on Good Friday)!
-
Whilst everybody is waiting with anticipation on next week's (away) game against Eesendrug, personally l cannot wait until until we meet Collingwood in Round Four's (away) game at the "G"! When we smash them by a massive margin, we will show Sydney, and the rest of the AFL, how it is done, to take us to the top of the AFL ladder! Four plus goals each to Hogan, Garlett, Watts and the freshly-unleashed Petracca! p.s. Only query in having an unbeaten start to the season is maintaining our 'away' form against North in Round Three. p.s. Round Four of the VFL is against Essendrug. Let's hope that our Casey boys can similarly hand out a football lesson.

Enjoyed being at the game but nervous at three quarter time due to the fact that they were not only ahead in the score but had so many extra scoring shots. One negative that I noticed today was that whenever there was a pack going for a mark, Gawn persisted in punching the ball instead of using his height to clunk the mark. It happened too often and he has shown at training that he can take these contested marks.

I cannot believe it. Ten posts in a row, all complimentary about Jack!
-
Also at 100% disposal efficiency yesterday. If his team mates could match that then we will start winning matches by twenty goals!
-
I have consistently had Watts amongst my favourite players, he gets the contested pack marks, creates multiple goal assists and kicks freakish goals. He also wears his heart on his sleeve. He will be a crucial part of our success going forward as much as Salem, Petracca, Hogan, Viney, Gawn and Oliver and he will lead by example. The haters on this site will always hate him, because they don't look at him objectively as one of 44 on our list. He has been best 22 from the outset but a lad with the highest (unrealistic) expectations on him due to his draft position. He is never going to be Wayne Carey but I suggest he is a far better role model than him and a better role model than Tom $cully of the same draft pick legacy who was one of the best for GWS yesterday but who I wouldn't swap for in a mile. List me as a fan.

Buckley and Eddie are obviously giving their guys the wrong drugs. They should get Hird in as a consultant.
-
Franklin 4.1, Tippett 0.1. Easy to see which one they got their $1M value for. Interesting (after today's match) to see the two Collingwood players with the greatest disposals were both traded from GWS!
-
In Dunn, HL, Brayshaw and Petracca (l wish). Out O. Mac, Harmes and Bugg (although nobody really deserves to be dropped apart from our need to play our best team available).

One of their former "older guys" is captaining Essendon. I suspect they will go backwards at a greater rate.
-
Herein is the problem Biffen: Viney, Salem, Brayshaw, T. MacDonald, Vanders and Hogan will all have to "tank" if they are to have half a chance. Let's also hope Weideman doesn't get a game this year. Edit. There is another small problem also with N. Jones, Gawn, Tyson and Vince. This is the dilemma with depth, something we didn't have when Stymes or Woewodin won theirs.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 1, 2016
CBDees replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think that we can pull it off today but I hope that Vanders isn't out!
