Just started reading the posts. Great results and twenty extra scoring shots augurs well for next week against the Box Hill Hawks.

Was there training today (Friday) and if so was anyone there?

All the experts in all the papers (except Emma Quayle) have backed the Doggies! I love it when we start as "underdog" (because we never seem to win when we are favourites (e.g. Essendon and St Kilda))! I get a good feel about Sunday. ANB in for Kent otherwise no change warranted. Go Dees!

MFC 2016 Membership - Record Broken. Next stop: 40,000
CBDees replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
This weekend is Essendon's first game at Etihad for the year whilst we have already played a "home" game there against the Saints who have it as their 'home' ground! Go figure! -
Let's hope that Spencil gets rewarded with a Casey VFL Premiership (along with Terlich, JKH and other foot soldiers who we may not see again in the Ones)!

Who is likely to move into Goodwin's seat at years end?
CBDees replied to SPC98's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think in this instance we should promote from within and move Plapp (Casey) into Goodwin's role, leaving McCartney where he is and sourcing a top candidate for Casey. This would be very seamless as regards 'game plan' and each senior coach would be familiar working with (and getting the best out of) our playing list. With the money saved from Roos salary, everybody involved could be paid a fair increase and there may even be something left in the kitty to find an appropriate role for Roos. -
Not sure I know how to quote your post on the thread relating to Goodwin's possible replacement but your last statement may have hit the nail on the head. This is not a question of promoting him into Goodwin's current role over McCartney either as he is also playing a fantastic role and should be rewarded for it. They both deserve a pay rise however, assuming Goodwin may be on slightly less than Roos, I am sure that we accommodate it (plus have a little over to ensure we retain a mentoring or development academy role for Roos).

If it is then we caught it off the Saints (probably Milne)!

Didn't Vince extend for another year?

They still have rights (and holders of guest passes pay even more) yet I am restricted in the number of pavilion passes that I can get for the cricket (3) and football (10) seasons so that my Guest can accompany me. I live with it. There are plenty of opportunities to attend to merely see an AFL match: my suggestion was solely in the context that you 'only attend matches featuring your team' (where most ardent supporters would happily pay a slight premium rather than miss out). History When I started supporting the Demons they were the Melbournea Cricket Club Football Club, (originally a sporting division of the MCC). If this was still the case, we would have the largest membership in the AFL (the entire MCC membership, with another 240,000 on the waiting list)! -
Great news and terrific to watch both Viney and Harmes interviews. Two star players, passionate Demons and absolutely committed to the success of the Demons. The attitude shown by these two will hopefully consolidate their teammates and drag the rest of our young team to success. I am full of confidence that our Club is embarked on the right path!

Saty, with the greatest respect, my post is not in the slightest bit disparaging and was prompted by the fact that l have watched the mighty Dees for five decades from the MCC reserve and have got to know most of the regular supporters on Level 2. Whilst most are MFC member, there are a number that aren't and for casual/occasional supporters the percentage drops rapidly. My comments still stand! (And if it is not your place to divulge numbers, why boast about your inside knowledge in the first instance)? -
I didn't think Saad did too badly on Sunday despite our high score. I suspect that he would rather be playing for us rather than against us next time we meet.

Sometimes there bobs up an objective report on our success (such as the one pasted below): http://www.theroar.com.au/2016/05/10/melbourne-hell-demons-rise/ My prediction is that we will win and the win again the following week against (an improving) Brisbane, putting us at 6/3 and firmly entrenched in the eight. Go Dees!

Great article and right on the money!

Unless 100% of regular Demon supporters [sic] who attend each week join up, it is a poor effort and mean. I know that there are a vast number of MCC members who are also MFC members but there are still a lot that hold out and most members can afford it as it is a fraction of the MCC subs (especially for those of us paying for a guest pass)! P.s. If you know the exact number Saty, why don't you post it (along with the number of MCC members who have nominated Melbourne as their AFL team)? -
Bring back Chip. How long before his contract ends?

That is exactly what I was driving at. It is too easy for MCC members to not purchase MFC as well. If it was mandatory for each MCC member to only have rights of admission to three games of any one team unless they also buy a football membership, we would see a jump in memberships of most Victorian Clubs but the Dees would be the greatest beneficiaries! -
It helped St Kilda by us having one of our best players out.

Still a way to go however I suspect that this is due (in some cases) to people being AFL or MCC members and being too tight to also join the MFC. Be good if your MCC or AFL membership only entitled you to a maximum of three attendances for any particular team. Then we would see memberships soar past 40000! -
Mystery is are they ever to play a game with their other BGS teammate Dawes?

In Trengove out Garland

If they had only of lost their bearded fullback and Ablett, we would have won by twenty goals!
