I think it was a little different with Buddy. Bringing in the best key forward in the competition on huge money is a little different than brining in a star midfielder, especially when you already have one in Pendles. Sure, Sydney had Tippett, but we all know Buddy is better.

That'd be crazy. Pendles is more valuable than Dangerfield (as good as he is). You're right in it being a recipe for instability I reckon.

I just can't fathom how, since the Tribunal accepted much of what Mr Holmes said in that transcript, that the players themselves weren't sanctioned.

Haven't finished reading the transcript, but pages 21 and 22 are particularly damning.

What amazes me isn't just how hard he hits, its that when he GETS hit, he gets right back up. He must have a huge tolerance for pain. I think I remember reading an interview where he said what he loves about footy is pulling up the next day with all the bruises.

On his radio show this morning he was talking about gambling in the AFL. It was an excellent segment - except that gambling advertising wasn't mentioned once. It's a pretty big hole to leave in the conversation. They were talking about players and punters getting help etc, but nothing about how the AFL condones this behaviour with the constant adds and odds splashed at us on telecasts and at the ground.

Yep. All about playing up the Melbourne blame game so other teams think they can pull players with 'potential' out of the mire. I think the only problem is now there is a solid history of other clubs not being able to do that with our ex-players.

Not sure I understand the point of this thread. You're saying that two scapegoated players' weaknesses are the inverse of each other and if we could somehow combine them then we'd have a great player? Have you built some kind of skill merging device that makes this possible? Can't wait to see your Frankenfyfe.
