2025 in review - the positives and the negatives
The late career renaissance of both Melksham and TMac. Melksham with a career best goal tally and wasn't TMac leading in one-on-one defensive contests at some point of the year?

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
- Farewell Charlie Spargo
Well called DD. I like Spargs. He's shown flashes of brilliance over the years but he doesn't quite do enough at AFL level. Doesn't kick enough goals as a small forward, doesn't get enough of the ball for a half-forward/mid. I'll be interested to see if the new coach has him in his plans or not.- Farewell Charlie Spargo
Officially weighing up his options- 2025 All Australian
Max is seriously the best Melbourne player I've seen in my lifetime. I wouldn't put it past him to break the record and make it 9 AA's next season.- 2025 All Australian
Picking Sam Darcy who played 16 games over Naughton who played more games and kicked more goals is baffling. The AFL has a new love child- Farewell Jayden Hunt
Loved watching him during his dashing heyday of 2016-17 before teams figured him out a bit in 2018. He was a half decent forward for us in 2019 but for me he played his best footy as a handy lockdown defender for us in 2021-22 following the retirement of Nev. He should be a premiership Demon but footy is a cruel game. Surprised that he was unable to hold down a spot in the Eagles defence this year.- Adelaide
- Whoโs Playing Their Last Game In The Red & Blue tonight?
That's very disappointing if true. I thought he was worth persisting with for at least another year. Clearly the powers that be (whoever they are these days) don't agree. That winning tackle against North was one hell of a first involvement at AFL level.- Jake Melksham & Tom McDonald Sign On For 2026
Hardly a surprise at this point, but Jake is going around again! EDIT:.....And apparently TMac is as well!- POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Interesting to note that in his post-match interview, Maxy spoke about him and the likes of the 'older brigade' including McDonald and Melksham rocking up for day one of pre-season. Maybe a tentative confirmation that both TMac and Melky are going around again?- Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Aside from his missed shot at HT, I think it was the best game he's played all year.- Whoโs Playing Their Last Game In The Red & Blue tonight?
Please tell me we didn't give Sharp a long term contract when we traded for him? Genuinely stunned he's managed to play 17 games this year.- Tahj & Kai White (father/sons)
From looking at an old 'potential father son' article on the Melbourne website, the White twins should both be 14 now. If they both want to go down that road, they'll be drafted in 2029.- VOTES: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
6. Gawn 5. Langford 4. Rivers 3. Oliver 2. Salem 1. Fritsch- POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Rivers. Must. Play. Midfield- POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Our fourth quarters continue to be our achilles heel. Langford is a gem. Long, long pre-season ahead.- AMW, Mentha and Culley Sign on as Rookies for 2026
I could see all three in our starting 22 next year. AMW would likely be playing now if he hadn't injured his ACL and Mentha could fill the small forward void inside 50 while Kozzy plays more midfield time. Culley could be anything.- PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Billings is out of contract at the end of this season. I think we've seen the last of him.- PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
I imagine that if McDonald and Melksham were retiring, it would've been announced by now so they could both be given a fitting tribute at the end of the match. Hopefully both play on next season.- PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
Wow, uninspiring to the max. It would've been a great opportunity to give the likes of Laurie, Brown or even Kentfield or Mentha a go considering Casey have a bye this weekend. Everyone has checked out. What a drag of a year.- Mitch McGovern
Missed out on selection in Carlton's final game of the year, which means he wonโt hit the automatic trigger for an extra year at the Blues. Carlton can still offer him a new deal but is this one we should potentially look at? Mature body and can be played at either end of the ground. Tmac is no certainty to go around again next season and May's powers are dwindling. I've never been a huge fan but he could be a handy in-between while the likes of JVR, Jeffo and Adams continue to learn their craft.- Petty is definitely improving.
His last three weeks have probably been the best he's played since his late 2023 hot patch when he booted six against the Tiges. I still think his best position is defence, but I wouldn't be upset if we persist with him up forward next season.- CASEY: Rd 21 vs Box Hill Hawks
Is Sinnema eligible to be drafted this year or next? Sounds like a good prospect.- POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Disappointing performance. Very little spirit in that showing. Would Sparrow get a game in any other best 22? Has been coasting for years now. - Farewell Charlie Spargo
